What stops you showering every day?

I hate showering!

I find any excuse to avoid showering as soon as I get up. Things like I'm doing housework or gardening and I'll shower later are my usual excuses.

I'm not sure what would make me want to shower first thing, I just like getting on with my day.

I'm not a public health hazard, I do wash - just can't be arsed to shower every day.

IlovexmastimeAre you Jerry Hall by any chance? She said that Mick used to like her 'dirty' and she hadn't to shower for a week before he came home from a tour.

Fairylea · 02/10/2014 16:32

Bluerrrggghhh. I don't know how people manage to want to be intimate with someone who doesn't shower at least once a day. I just wouldn't want sex, at all, ever with someone who didn't shower in the morning at least.

pinkfrocks · 02/10/2014 16:43

so you aren't Mick J then?

Me neither.

Clackety · 02/10/2014 18:13

I wish I hadn't mentioned it!

Yes oneday I'd like to want to! My bathroom is cold and in the winter there's nothing worse.

Maybe I should look at fluffy towels and nice shower products to help me on my way

Anyone who thinks you need 2 showers a day in order to be clean has probably got problems.

Or maybe they are just naturally a lot more stinky.

I do my ablutions post exercise (of the martial, marital or yogic varieties) so pretty much daily. If haven't done any or the above I can usually skip a day without people passing out if I stand near them on the train.

BadcatBertram · 02/10/2014 18:26

I have to use Palmolive soap otherwise I just don't feel fresh - shower gel etc doesn't cut it. Wish some of the men at work would start showering every morning. I can really smell that 'bed smell' on them. I can never smell it on my female colleagues though - even though a few of them don't shower in a morning.

SooticaTheWitchesCat · 02/10/2014 18:28

I shower every morning, I think it is just habit really, I like to start the day feeling fresh.

SofaCanary · 02/10/2014 18:34

The 'bed smell' is probably just them having a wank and not washing their hands Grin

Fullpleatherjacket · 02/10/2014 18:39

I just can't imagine walking round sticky and stinking for a week let alone because a bloke had asked me to. How utterly grim.

Shower in the morning and bath and hair wash in the evening every day here so in answer to the OP....nothing.

pinkfrocks · 02/10/2014 19:21

Yeah sure- we are all nut cases.

So after 8 hours in bed- maybe even having marital relations as we now call them here- and 12 hours at work, travelling, working in a hot office, a smelly school, a hospital, on the beat, gardening, doing sport, blah blah...there is no need to shower before going to work, or getting into bed?

I'm quite sure people who shower are not the ones with problems.

Magpiemystery · 02/10/2014 19:25

To all those who don't wash daily I reckon you stink and you just don't realise it- it's hardly the thing someone is going to tell you.

I don't see how washing at the sink and slopping water all over the bathroom is quicker or cheaper than a shower.

I am also in the shower in the morning amd bath at nigh, club.

BadcatBertram · 02/10/2014 19:29

Sofa - come to think of it, the main offenders do seem to take rather long lavatory breaks.......!

pinkfrocks · 02/10/2014 19:35

FWIW there was a time when I was sharing a house and it simply wasn't possible to shower before work due to queues for the only bathroom-and because there was no shower, but I'd had a bath the night before and an armpit etc wash the following morning. Now that I am able to wash as much as I like, I do so much more often and it feels much better.

Newrowsees · 02/10/2014 20:46

This thread is making me feel queasy.

Let me try to make you understand.

6am- get up (after sometimes a night of intimacy) and hit the gym for an hour--SWEAT
After which I'm on my feet all day (working) until 7pm- SWEAT or Perspire. Can you then give me reason why you think I have problems?

frogmore6 · 02/10/2014 21:11

And now I know why some kids have lice.

Fairylea · 02/10/2014 21:49

Why is it a a problem to want to feel clean and to enjoy a shower daily at least? Hmm

pinkfrocks · 02/10/2014 21:55

Perhaps OP you need to work on making your bathroom more enjoyable as a space? My bathroom- en suite- 'sold' me this house. I love being in it but I concede that cold bathrooms and bathrooms that need a make-over are not pleasant places to linger.

TheRealMaryMillington · 02/10/2014 22:01

None at all fairy. Slightly facetious post upthread, tbh, hence the stinky comment.

Of course after a workout or physical/dirty work a person might well need or want a shower. But two showers per day is hardly necessary for basic standard of hygiene if you haven't done either.

Oh and frog there's no link between showering, or lack of, and headlice.

Coughle · 02/10/2014 23:35

Headlice actually prefer clean hair.

Greengardenpixie · 02/10/2014 23:42

And now I know why some kids have lice

Clearly you dont know about headlice frog. A total misconception and alarmingly that is the attitude that has created such as stigma in schools regarding headlice and it going on dirty heads. The above poster is totally correct ^ Headlice love clean hair!!!..and i work with children and many children get them..many have beautiful fresh clean hair.

Clackety · 03/10/2014 08:20

pink I'm going to make that a priority this weekend. I've now become very self conscious as a result of this thread Grin

OP posts:
pinkfrocks · 03/10/2014 08:34

Grin hope you've had your morning shower by now.

MoominKoalaAndMiniMoom · 03/10/2014 08:50

I have to get myself and my 5mo daughter ready for uni / nursery to drop her off at 8:45, as well as sharing a bathroom with OH who needs to get ready for uni too. It's shower or breakfast and I'm not going without breakfast Grin although during rehearsal time, I sort every evening. Otherwise, every other night.
