What stops you showering every day?

I hate showering!

I find any excuse to avoid showering as soon as I get up. Things like I'm doing housework or gardening and I'll shower later are my usual excuses.

I'm not sure what would make me want to shower first thing, I just like getting on with my day.

I'm not a public health hazard, I do wash - just can't be arsed to shower every day.

My mum is on a water saving mission at the moment and has proudly declared that she doesn't need a shower every day as she doesn't smell.....

But she does.

Not of b.o... but she definitely doesn't smell "fresh". It's not pleasant at all.

whataloadofoldshit · 02/10/2014 13:08

I'm a bit tired so forgive me I'm in wrong but you are saying your children are only washed properly once a week?

UnrelatedToElephants · 02/10/2014 13:13

Every other day is more than enough - I have other things to do, and water bills to pay!

Branleuse · 02/10/2014 13:15

you dont need to have a shower just to wash your fanny

OneDayWhenIGrowUp · 02/10/2014 13:18

Do you want to like showering, OP? What is it that makes you hate it?

I don't always shower every morning, if I'm feeling a bit lazy I might just do a quick sink wash and probably shower later in the evening. Especially when it's chilly it is difficult to make myself get out of warm snuggly bed.

But what makes me want to get in the shower is making it a lovely experience in itself by stocking it with a selection of nice products. I have at last count about 8 or 9 different shower gels & scrubs, so whatever mood I'm in - wanting a refreshing wake up, a quick functional wash, a pampery scrub, nicely scented before a night out, or relaxing before bed, I know that once I get undressed and into the shower, the shower itself is going to be really nice and feel a little indulgent, so that motivation overcomes the laziness.

This thing about the cost of water is a red herring- oh , more fishy inferences.
A shower costs peanuts especially compared to a bath. You could shower with 3 large jugs of water pretty much. And if your budget is so tight that you cannot afford the basics of daily shower then maybe you ought to economise elsewhere?

frogmore6 · 02/10/2014 13:41

Greengardenpixie I DO NOT stink!. I have a feeling your whole house smells very bad and I'm sure your tea cups are stained too.

Shower every morning to wake me up and have often has marital relations the previous night. Quite often shower before bed as feeling grubby after a busy day and also in the hope of martial relations Wink

pinkfrocks · 02/10/2014 14:00

It's a long time since I heard someone say 'marital relations'.
But yes, no one should go to work smelling of MR Smile

SofaCanary · 02/10/2014 14:16

I wonder if there's a correlation between MR and the frequency, or not, of showering?

We need a pie chart, or summat.

Gas having been shut off due to safety hazards is one (landlord had the boiler installed wrong, but it somehow passed for 5 years...quite concerning!).

My disabilities, showering hurts - a lot, so I have to do it right before bed so I can lay down straight afterwards. I've had days where I've been in too much pain already to face it (and planned to stay in the following the next day so only DP and the kids have to deal with me Grin).

Greengardenpixie · 02/10/2014 14:21

Ha ha...i dont have sex on my work days lol...i have no time!!!!!!! There probably is!!!
My teacups are surprisingly not stained!! Im sure you dont smell frog :)

Greengardenpixie · 02/10/2014 14:22

Oh i keep my toilet spotlessly clean :) I cant stand the smell of pee tbh. I steam mop all my floors.

Fairylea · 02/10/2014 14:22

I bet there's also a link between people avoiding marital relations and actively choosing to stink in the hope of discouraging any martial relations.

MiddletonPink · 02/10/2014 14:27

I love a shower in the morning. I love standing there for 5 mins in the peace and quiet.

I hate getting out of the shower though. Hair dripping.

I like being clean and smelling nice.

Greengardenpixie · 02/10/2014 14:27

Ha ha...yeh..but not in this house :) My dh thinks its all very natural. ferremones [sp] and all that!

tilbatilba · 02/10/2014 14:29

I can't eat breakfast or go out without having a shower …. rarely do I ever go to bed without having one either. I would feel absolutely gross going without.

WhatsGoingOnEh · 02/10/2014 14:38

Wait. It's usual to shower in the morning AND also have a bath that night?? Whaaaa..? I missed that memo.

magicpixie · 02/10/2014 14:38

its not very good for the environment and a waste of time, every other day is more than fine

Ilovexmastime · 02/10/2014 14:45

Sometimes I just can't be arsed with it, especially if it's a particularly cold morning.

petitdonkey · 02/10/2014 14:53

It's the flannel washing that I don't understand… I know I would feel really cold slopping a flannel under my arms and anywhere else that needs it! Also, cutting soap on the flannel and then rinsing it off - do you have different flannels for different areas and presumably, you wash the flannel every time you use it? I'd much rather hop in the shower, squirt on some shower gel, rinse it off and be out in under 5 minutes.

Ilovexmastime · 02/10/2014 14:55

Have just gone back and read the thread and would just like to throw a (stink) bomb in by saying that sometimes I don't shower even if I've had MR! Do I get an award for having the stinkiest fishy fanny?! I hope so, cos my DH loves it! I also love a bit of MR after one or both of us has been playing sport... I love the smell of my DH's fresh sweat, so manly Grin.

peasandlove · 02/10/2014 15:14

I hope you don't work in an office Shock
