The summer thread!

What are you planning to wear this summer?( assuming we're going to have one).

Mrtyle I have that M&S fragrance you just mentioned and it is really lovely. Cheap as well so can use lots of it and not worry about the cost of replacing it

wiltingfast · 03/07/2014 08:36

So

wiltingfast · 03/07/2014 08:39

Oops! Stupid phone Grin

Sotd here is l'artisan's dzing and love it! Was expecting a bit of a belter for some reason but it's soft sweet leather ewith some floral thrown in. Gorgeous. I can't stop sniffing myself and I'm terribly sorry I left the rest of the sample at home...

I received some decants today.Love Jo Malone's Orange Blossom perfume. Its such a simple delightful smell.I love orange blossom in all its guises though, even Seville a l'aube which is blossom mixed with incense and vanilla.

One of the decants was Brosseau Violette menthe. It smells of toothpaste and is truly disgusting.I think its the worse perfume I have ever smelled.I also have a really bad head (and feel sick)from celebrating a really successful day rather too enthusiastically last night. So the combination of this leaked Brosseau and some leaked Rose ouds was rather too much!

OP posts:
cressetmama · 04/07/2014 11:49

Poor you, Canny. Hope you feel better soon. Have not smelled any perfume from Brosseau but the idea of mint and violet combined, even before your description of its reality, sounds appalling. Maybe we should have a thread on the worst things ever smelled in bottles!

Ohwhatfuckeryisthis · 05/07/2014 08:35

Not read right through, but anyone tried the new Guerlain citron verte? I'm seriously tempted especially as I have some house of Fraser vouchers.
And remembering ages ago someone mentioned primark perfume Shock I got the two quid Polka. Had quite a few compliments, but it's a bit sweet.

niminypiminy · 05/07/2014 13:01

Can I join again? I used to be on this thread when it was maybe number 1 or 2, anyway ages ago, and then took a break.

I'm having a bit of a binge on samples at the moment, and now have a backlog to try. SOTD is Heeley Cuir Pleine Fleur, which smells quite masculine on me. I get more of the leather than the flowers, perhaps a faint floral halo around the leather. Am quite liking it, though I'm not really a big fan of leather.

HatieKokpins · 07/07/2014 11:52

The new Guerlain Citron Vert is very lovely, a bright lemon-lime citrus, with a hint of green herbs beneath. Has the lasting power of your average mayfly, but it's lovely whilst it lasts.

wiltingfast · 07/07/2014 13:11

That sounds lovely Hatie! Must keep an eye out.

Look at [http://www.irishtimes.com/business/sectors/retail-and-services/chanel-and-dior-brace-for-new-eu-rules-on-perfume-1.1858011 this], seems like you better stock up on your favourite perfumes before the new regulations hit :(

SOTD pc02, sweeeet! but I'm loving it Grin stupid stupid name though...

I can't wear cuir pleine fleur niminy, gives me a splitting headache alas...

wiltingfast · 07/07/2014 13:12

oops

canny1234 · 08/07/2014 10:22

Amyris Femme by MFK today.I wore it last night to bed as it smelt like a fluffy pink cuddle( sore throat and cough).I still couldn't sleep but felt comforted.Again same this morning.

Guerlain Terracotta Le Parfum today. It reminds me of last summer where we drove through North Italy - it was smelling exactly like the perfume. So as the weather looked lovely, I thought it would be great in the sun and all that.... And now it's raining. A lot.

Oh well, the perfume is still lovely.

Regarding the Guerlain Lemon Verde, the longevity isn't great compared to many other perfumes. I spray it in my hair as it seems to last all day that way. It smells like freshly cut limes with a hint of sweetness. I can smell the green notes (to me it's like freshly cut grass or Herba Fresca) as well, but they are subtle. It's just mainly lime.

cressetmama · 09/07/2014 20:42

New puppy has interrupted perfume play! Have not been near the samples. The enforced lay off may be good for my obsession or my pocket, or both!

canny1234 · 14/07/2014 10:35

Have we lost this thread completely?Real life getting in the way again.

Come on Perfumistas!
What is everyone wearing over the summer holidays?

My latest love is L'Artisans La Chasse aux papillons.I love the combination of Jasmine and Tuberose with the extra freshness from Orange blossom and Lime. The dry down is lightly scented Jasmine tea. This perfume after the first heady 10 minutes is fairly fleeting but I've ordered the dry body oil as well to layer the fragrance and increase longevity.I've also just ordered Drole de Rose by L'Artisan as well.Someone please pull me away from Qvc.Whoever would have thought they would be such a good place to buy perfume.

Anyway for those who want to sample L'Artisan Parfumeur perfumes the set of 4 sprays is on offer at the moment( and got me in to all this buying).

SOTD Lacquered Rose by Xray Profumo. I picked it up last week in the Space NK sale. £120 down to £30! It's lovely. At first I thought it was very similar to my SL La Fille de Berlin, but I tested them both on different wrists yesterday and Lacquered Rose seems less sweet, slightly woody and very wearable.A gorgeous, interesting, everyday rose. The odd thing I found was that the bottle is very elaborate but the box is so dull and bulky. I keep all my perfumes in their boxes to preserve them, but this box is definitely not decorative. Do you all keep your perfumes boxed?

FuzzLightbeard · 14/07/2014 13:37

Hi folks!
I've been a bit lazy posting here lately I admit. Canny I picked up a gift set of La Chasse in the L'Artisan sale, I can't seem to resist white florals! Also bought Mon Numero 7 and a bottle L'Air de Rien in the Miller Harris sale. I hope the sales stop for a bit so my bank account can catch up!

SOTD is Tauer's Reverie au Jardin. I like it more and more each time I wear it, which I never thought I'd say of a lavender scent.

FuzzLightbeard · 14/07/2014 13:40

Housewife I keep all my perfumes in their boxes to stop the light getting to them. I have some without boxes that were either given to me or I picked up on ebay and keep them all together in a big box. I'd love to have all the pretty bottles out on display but don't want the risk of them going off quickly!

Everything I have stays in boxes too, and in a dark cupboard. Air and light are the enemies of perfume!

Carpaccio · 14/07/2014 18:21

I store all of my perfumes in boxes and I keep them in my dressing room - it's fairly cool there. I've always been told that heat, light and moisture is bad, so I don't generally keep my perfumes in the bathroom.
I have arranged them on a large metal tray so I can see them all and don't forget to use them all. Samples go in a small leather pouch next to the perfumes.

SOTD is Hermes Hermessence Rose Ikebana. It's a fresh rose scent. I don't generally like rose scent as I feel they always smell unpleasant and like dried roses (it goes for loads of rose scented products, such as Dior and Rodial lip balms), but this one is just lovely.

In case you're interested, Space NK has Diptyque Oyedo on sale: uk.spacenk.com/oyedo-eau-de-toilette/MUK137187335.html

I'm considering this one: uk.spacenk.com/body-and-bath-travel-quartet---tarte/MUK200011336.html
but I haven't been able to try it in the shops and I can't decide if it sounds amazing or too sickly sweet.

Philosykos over here. Totally unlike anything I thought I liked, but I'm loving it! The lasting power is terrible though, which is putting me off a full bottle.

Housewife2010 · 15/07/2014 09:56

MagicCarpet. I have Philosykos too. It's lovely. Have you tried the EDP? I haven't but it should have better longevity. I think Vetyverio is my favourite Diptyque Summer scent.
