The summer thread!

What are you planning to wear this summer?( assuming we're going to have one).

canny I'm liking the Perfume Society so far. I have received a lovely box full of samples and sampling notes, and think I will get a couple more throughout the year. It's definitely worth a look.

Miller Harris Jasmine Vert today. Not enough jasmine for me!

Sorry to hijack your thread- I'm cleaning/throwing things out. I have 3/4 a bottle of Eliz Arden "Mediterranean" . It's too sweet for me. I know it's not really high end enough to merit this thread but if anyone would like it, please pm me. Happy to send (free) to UK addresses and perhaps a couple of pounds could be put into a charity box of your choice (if you would like it). Sorry if not a good thread to plonk this random offer in...

Carpaccio · 23/06/2014 13:16

My summer scents are:

Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Limon Verde
Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Lys Soleia
Guerlain Terracotta Eau Sous le Vent
Guerlain Terracotta Le Parfum
Hermes Un Jardin sur le Nil
Hermes Jour d'Hermes
Hermes Hermessence Iris Ukiyoe
Hermes Hermessence Rose Ikebana
Jil Sander Pure
Issey Miyake L'eau d'Issey Florale
Bond No 9 Hamptons
Estee Lauder Private Collection Tuberose Gardenia
Courreges Rose de Courreges
Escada Signature (the light green one in the clear bottle with the pink dot)
Nina Ricci L'air

I wear them in rotation, but I'm currently mostly wearing the first 4 on the list.

Apatite1 · 23/06/2014 14:57

I've added another to my summer rotation:

Isabey Gardenia. Massive floral. Gorgeous for a summer night's party, applied with a light hand.

Sciencerocks: definitely try carnal flower. I think coromandel is better suited for the cooler months. Also try jardin d'amalfi by creed. Lovely.

Apatite1 · 23/06/2014 14:58

And no suggestions for a coconut scent from anyone?

Stokey · 23/06/2014 15:09

Apatite I tried a Lolita Lempivka last time I was in HoF which was quite coconutty, I think it was this.

Mixed reviews on Fragantica and didn't make me want to rush out and buy it but pleasant.

Science I love Coromandel - i got a sample form Surrender to Chance. I also got an Eau de merveilles smaple from there for whoever was looking for it.

First date perfume... Posion! Or too much?

Carpaccio · 23/06/2014 15:15

Apatite1 How about Guerlain Terracotta Le Parfum? It's not massively coconutty, but there most certainly is a hint of it. You can see the composition here: www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Guerlain/Terracotta-Le-Parfum-24785.html

Or Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess: www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Est-e-Lauder/Bronze-Goddess-Eau-Fraiche-Skinscent-2014-25142.html

MissBattleaxe · 23/06/2014 15:35

Bronze Goddess was a slow burner for me but I love it now. JLo Deseo is coconutty and tropical and super cheap as its being discontinued so stock up now! Jil Sander sun is another good one and under twenty quid if you shop online.

MyrtleDove · 23/06/2014 17:07

wooly would love the Elizabeth Arden Mediterranean, but I'm moving shortly and wouldn't want you to miss me as the house will be empty - can I send you a PM once I've moved and you can post it to my new address then?

MyrtleDove · 23/06/2014 17:08

Oh and EL Sensuous Nude is coconutty! It basically smells of coconut sun cream.

canny1234 · 23/06/2014 17:29

I was going to say Bronze Goddess too.But I have a bottle of it and I'm not keen - would rather prefer Virgin Island Water even if it doesn't last.Have you tried the figgy ones like Philosykos ( which is gorgeously green n coconutty) and the two Heeleys fragrances Coccobello ( a boozy cocktail coconut) and the Figuier( a dry herbal figgy coconut).

Would love to try the Isabey Gardenia Apatite - it has all the notes I really like. But I've just looked up the price!
Also really want to try Carnal Flower.

OP posts:
Apatite1 · 23/06/2014 18:27

Elle L'aime

terracotta

bronze goddess

Jill sander sun

Sensuous nude

Coccobello

Got it. I haven't tried any of these. Am in duty free tomorrow and I'm sure some of these will be there. Canny, I have philosykos, but I think I'm looking for a sweeter coconut: this one is very green on me and fills that role nicely.

Thanks so much stokey, carpaccio, missbattleaxe, myrtledove and canny for all your suggestions.

Apatite1 · 23/06/2014 18:29

Canny1234: sorry isabey is hideously expensive. I'd see if you can get a sample and then splurge for your birthday! I got mine as a birthday present from in laws (ie I got money and promptly put it down on the counter!)

canny1234 · 23/06/2014 18:46

I've thought of a sweet coconut - the Comptoir Sud Pacifique range!I have a sample of one of these ( can't remember which one) which I can send to you if you want.

OP posts:
wooly31 · 23/06/2014 18:54

Mrytle - of course!

Apatite1 · 23/06/2014 19:29

Aw thanks canny but I'm out of the country for a week so if I don't find anything on holiday (I'm going to france) I'll be sure to report back to you! I have a few samples I can offer as a swap too.

Stokey · 24/06/2014 09:22

Enjoy your holiday Apatite and of course the Duty Free perfume porn Grin

SOTD is Tuesdays The Sexiest Scent in the Planet IMHO. This has been a real grower on me, and now I think is my favourite of their scents.

cressetmama · 24/06/2014 12:29

Loving everyone's lists of favourites and very happy to see some of the scents I like getting applauded. SOTD is the green mango fest of Un Jardin sur le Nil which is out for the first time this year. Yesterday afternoon was so humid that a sail along the Nile in a felucca was a delicious dream; one day, when the world recovers some sense, it may come true!

MyrtleDove · 24/06/2014 13:19

Can anyone recommend a natural-smelling lavender fragrance that leans towards green and fresh rather than floral? Perhaps an old-style male cologne as I believe lavender was originally more of a male scent?

wmarie29 · 24/06/2014 14:33

anyone tried " so"rock me all night long" not as exspensive as a few of the reviews i glanced at. I have been a fragrance lover for years . To be quite honest its good to have long lasting perfumes. But having said that if you dont try something different you aint lived! Saddly people stick to routine that goes for make up and all thw other stuff inside our comfort zones.

ScienceRocks · 24/06/2014 16:47

Myrtle I think L'occitane does a lavender. There's a Jo Malone one too. Nothing beats making your own though!

weary I am not a fan of the So perfumes, they remind me of not being able to breathe on the school bus, much as Impulse does!

Managed to get a bottle of Narcotic Venus on ebay, and a very cheap bottle of Curious by Britney Spear. Don't judge me for the latter, it is a dead ringer for Tocca's Stella, which I love, but so much cheaper!

canny1234 · 25/06/2014 13:50

Fragrance-fest for me at Boots yesterday I actually found several perfumes I liked.Chanel Chance eau tendre and eau fraiche were very delicious summer perfumes and I really surprised myself by liking J'adore and Sjp's Lovely.

Does anyone have Idylle?Would it be a good blind buy for me?( love lilacs and white flowers)I'm thinking about buying the eau de toilette( a little bottle!).

Carpaccio - love your summer scents and that your favourites are all Guerlain.

Myrtle I have recently bought a little bottle of Penhaligons Lavandula - it smells gorgeous and is definitely worth a try.But I do love l'occitanes lavender ( especially the bubble bath).

SOTD is Aqua Allegoria Flora Rosa.Gorgeous in the hot sun.

Stokey · 25/06/2014 13:52

Myrtle In Stylist today they were advertising a new Lavender Creed perfume. Worth a try but at £120 a bottle it must be love!

MissBattleaxe · 25/06/2014 16:35

SJP Lovely soemtimes gets overlooked because it is a "celeb" fragrance, but its actually highly rated by a lot of perfume fans and critics alike.
