Ooooh Rudy, how exciting! What colour? What style?
Pic please (on hanger if you don't want to go the whole selfie hog!)

Crem, are you Ok?

Just back from nice family supper in local posh pub - the people at the next table were a bit pissed - one of them then walked backwards into the waitress carrying a tray of our drinks, upending them over our table, the floor and dh's coat and bag. It was completely an accident - but they were gobsmackingly unapologetic - to the poor waitress who was quite upset and to us, covered in our own drinks. Gobsmacking. Lectured the dc on the way home about it being a good lesson in how NOT to behave and how awful it is to be quite so ungracious. Dh had to drive home and back to put his red wine soaked jacket in the wash. Shock

herbaceous · 24/05/2014 23:37

Some people, QQ. The least they could have done was buy you more drinks, surely?

OPM - I'm thinking either Eric Clapton or Jack Bruce. If the former, I used to live round there before it became all chi-chi. We went past the former pub - Cricketers is it? – that used to be utterly terrifying and is now a swish fooderie, complete with light sculptures.

QueenQueenie · 24/05/2014 23:44

Hi Herbs, Well I've been to Clapton on the 38 bus... to Bruce? Err, no. So I think you could be onto something there Grin

CointreauVersial · 24/05/2014 23:59

The laziest of lazy days here. I left the house twice - once to drop DS at his mate's house, and once to pick him up again.

We are planning to get the train into town tomorrow, to just mooch around and......do something.

Just back from A&E . In the end they sent an ambulance as I couldn't get in the carShock
Felt like a right drama llama. I am full of morphine which has helped but I can still feel the gnashing pain. Returned home in a w/c and a battery of pain meds. MRI on Tuesday
A&E was an experience
I am not supposed to walk for a weekSad

beachyhead · 25/05/2014 06:24

Poor you Crem. Hope the added pain relief helps you get some rest. We are up early for an entirely better reason. Off on the early flight to BarcelonaGrin

Blackduck · 25/05/2014 08:14

Beachy Envy
Cremo mucho sympathy...

Here the sun finally broke through about 4.30 and the beer festival picked up no end. Dinner on the patio - too much wine (ouch) and I have my beer stint at lunchtime (gag)...... I shall take a large mug of tea with me and try not to breath in too much....

originalpiratematerial · 25/05/2014 08:20

Oh cremola that sounds very grim indeed Sad

Yes - it's Clapton - have lived here for 15 years now and I remember the Cricketers - like several other formerly terrifying pubs, it has indeed changed beyond recognition.

bigTillyMint · 25/05/2014 08:28

Oh Cremo, so sorry to hear you are still in pain despite morphine. Hope the MRI scan helps to identify what is causing it.

BarcaEnvy - can't believe it's almost 10 years since DH and I went for my 40th.

Gove is now trying to ban non-English novelsAngry

Blackduck · 25/05/2014 08:46

Gove is ridiculous. English authors only and most pre-20th century... How arcane can you get?

Blackduck · 25/05/2014 08:49

Government ministers should not be dictating the curriculum content...

originalpiratematerial · 25/05/2014 08:50

Whaaatt? God I hate that man Angry

NearTheWindymill · 25/05/2014 08:51

Cremo that sounds awful - two more sleeps until Tuesday and hopefully you will get some with the help of the morphine. The MRI should identify the cause though and that should give them a better idea of how to manage it. If only it wasn't a bank holiday.

Rosebag · 25/05/2014 09:01

Cremo what an ordeal. I do hope the MRI is revealing and that it will indicate effective treatment. I also hope the morphine does more than just take the edge off the pain.
OPM my grandma lived in E5…it was either Upper or Lower Clapton Road..until they condemned her flats on account of them having no bathrooms! Fond memories of her taking me to the park there…Springfield? I also had a boyfriend who had a flat on Clapton Common..or is that N16?
Beachy weljel
I am now going to get up and give DD a birthday kiss and her 1D gig tickets as her pressie..she WILL cry. And then murder DS for putting his alarm on for 7am and then hitting the snooze button… Angry

lalsy · 25/05/2014 10:21

Crem, you poor, poor thing. I hope the pain eases off and the MRI helps identify the problem.

Perhaps this is a good day to type "Gove falls over" into google Smile.

Blackduck · 25/05/2014 10:28

Lalsy ha ha - thanks for that!!

Stropperella · 25/05/2014 10:32

Hmm, why does the MN app not work any more, I wonder?
Crem, I hope the next 2 days pass quickly for you and the pain meds will give you some relief. I also really hope the MRI will provide some answers.
QQ, I did indeed feel very sad for your friend's boys when I listened to that programme.

Today, I have nothing planned. There are a multitude of house and garden jobs that need doing, but I can pick and choose in my own time, which is a bit of a luxury. Although a friend's folk band is playing in the park later, so I might go there if the weather brightens up as it is supposed to.

SheherazadeSchadenfreude · 25/05/2014 10:34

Crem, that sounds horrific, but at least you are not having to wait weeks for an MRI, and once they know what it is, they can start doing something about it.

DD2's headmaster blogs, and his blogs (and his weekly letter to parents) are usually frothing rants about Gove. Where is the logic in letting politicians meddle in the nuts and bolts of education?

DH has taken DD2 to Comic Con, so I have a day to myself. This is such a rare event that I can't remember the last time it happened. It is usually me schlepping the kids about, sitting in the changing rooms in Debenhams while one of them tries on 22 bras, 18 pairs of jeans and 12 dresses before declaring that none of them fit/she doesn't like any of them, and him having a nice day to himself.

Blackduck · 25/05/2014 10:46

Oh MrsS what are you going to do?

I am in bed (still) MNing and reading cookery books (one of my favourite past times ) MrsS how many did you say you have?

Stropperella · 25/05/2014 11:03

I've just read an article about Gove's banning of "Of Mice and Men" from the curriculum. Truly..... WHAT?? Oh it just makes me seethe. Angry

I also rather wish people would stop hiring his wife for stuff.

SheherazadeSchadenfreude · 25/05/2014 11:04

I don't know, BD, I am a bit giddy with the excitement of it all. I am slumped on the sofa with tea and toast at the moment. I might go into Brixton, I think, for a mooch and some shopping.
