Ok car is loaded with sandwiches, scones and cake. About to leave for parents flat to set up this birthday party. Wish me luck. CV hope cold gets better and revision goes ok. Thank goodness DD's exams were last week so no cracking the whip over half term. Love the sound of home backed bread, mrsS from she who didn't even make the sandwiches for Pa's party. Local sandwich shop did platters. I used to have a long haired white cat. We just got used to eating cat hairs. I lost the will to live cleaning up after him. Lol at Big Jugs Only shop. Unfortunately I think I'm the wrong side if the Thames to get there easily! Mother, our passport photos get rejected on average three times whenever we have to renew. And DH always gets stopped at passport control despite looking ordinary and nondescript.

bigTillyMint · 24/05/2014 14:45

Stropps thats great about DDSmile

MI, yes, holidays become very trying when they want to have their own lives!

NearTheWindymill · 24/05/2014 14:46

Have a lovely party. Get well wishes to all who are ill or under the weather or in pain.

Where are you Rosebag?

bigTillyMint · 24/05/2014 14:48

Oooh Rosebag, wishing you a very successful partySmile

motherinferior · 24/05/2014 15:00

I do hope you all enjoy it, Rosebag.

Isn't the weather vile? I'm supposed to be going to a 40th later - about 5 mins' walk away but am deeply tempted to stay in and drink the cava myself. Having said that oooh I might go for 'just the one'.Grin DP is happy to stay in and indeed pick up DD2 from her party. And if I don't go I'll only feel, quite rightly, that I have no life and they do.

Btw BJO sold me a lacy bra in a v fetching pale oyster-pink called Blush, thus solving my dilemma.Grin

bigTillyMint · 24/05/2014 15:07

It is peeing down here now too.

MI, get to that partyGrin

motherinferior · 24/05/2014 15:11

Yes, I'll drop in for just the one.Grin

I don't know the party giver very well (she was the one who lurched into the pub at our mini-meetup) but picked her up a little present - just a pretty glass, a pink vintagey M&S one (I know she likes drinking!) DP said slightly sniffily he wasn't sure about it but DD1 likes it. And I do too.

NearTheWindymill · 24/05/2014 15:14

It's coming down in sheets too here - but there's a bit of sun and I think there'll be a rainbow soon. I am not yet showered, my hair's a mess and I'm contemplating a mooch round the shops but can't be bothered to get up. Is the forecast this bad for the rest of the weekend?

originalpiratematerial · 24/05/2014 15:55

Hello all [waves]. Rosebag I hope the party goes very well! Motherinferior enjoy your "just the one".

I did parkrun this morning in the bucketing rain - I actually love running in the rain though (Irish) so it was no hardship. Since then I've taken DS3 to the park, popped round to a friend's house to feed their cats, and cleaned out our gerbils' house. I need this rain to do one so I can get out and do some much-needed chopping back of foliage in the garden.

I bet everyone else is having a much more glamorous BH weekend than me, ho hum Hmm.

Rosebag · 24/05/2014 15:58

Windy I am in north west london where my parents flat is. Thanks for all the good wishes. Table is set and pa is weak and watery but enjoying his birthday I think. DM is trying and failing to blow up balloons. They keep going pop and it's bringing a smoke to dads face. So relieved we didn't have to cancel!

Rosebag · 24/05/2014 15:59

Smile not smoke. Bloody auto correct

bigTillyMint · 24/05/2014 16:10

Rosebag, glad it's all going wellSmile

MI, I doubt it'll be just the one if the jolity the other night is anything to go by!

Am enjoying a quiet moment in Costa having picked up some snacks for tonight and cheeses/berries/fizz and wine to take to BFFs tomorrow. DH and DS went off to watch some footy in a pub and DM is helping DD with her textiles

cremolafoam · 24/05/2014 16:29

Lol @ mrs S. Yes a finger bob made of cat: what's not to like!?

Rose, glad ddad is having a lovely time. Hope the afternoon doesn't wear him out too much.

BTM sounds like a fun night in store

Stropps dd sounds in a better place which is good news. And for you too that the end is in sight.

Mi , there is no such thing as one drink imeGrin

I had to come home from work after fainting at lunch time. Enough with this pain alreadyAngry

QueenQueenie · 24/05/2014 16:37

Hi everyone.

Now safely ensconced on the sofa in Suffolk and don't plan to move very far from here 'til Monday although might go out for a ladyjog in a bit.
Despite our talking about going away for the weekend on and off for the best part of a week (not constantly you understand, but in passing, over supper etc) ds1 denied all knowledge of any such plan and announced at 5.30 yesterday that he had tickets for a concert that pm - and that he'd told us AGES ago Hmm. Guess who had to stay behind and catch a train with him this morning? He has worked so hard and managed so well (so far) with his AS exams that I felt he deserved to be indulged.

Thanks for the heads up about the radio feature about my poor friend. Dh heard it and told me about it when he picked us up for the train. I hope I'll be able to hear it on iplayer. She really was an amazing woman and a lovely friend. I can't help but think she'd have loved all this attention if she was here to enjoy it and how terribly sad it is that she's not. And it brings a lump to my throat just thinking about her poor boys.

Like the sound of BJO shop MI (although my have shrunk in recent times) so are more average than previously.

Very happy BH weekends to all, whatever you are up to.

Crem, how's the pain? Wishing you better. Auriga, how's the leg? Ditto.
(And anyone else and their ailments that I've overlooked...).

QueenQueenie · 24/05/2014 16:39

... And I meant to wave to Rosebag. Another N Londoner! Do I know you? Glad to see someone alongside me and Herbs to counterbalance the SE London massive contingent...

bigTillyMint · 24/05/2014 16:45

CremoSad It must be very bad. What does the GP say? Can you get stronger pain relief?

cremolafoam · 24/05/2014 16:54

Of course it's a bank holiday innit BTM . Can't see gp til Tuesday .
Asked my pharmacist friend for best pk I could get to take with Tramadol and she has given me a few Paramol to get me through the w/e. No effect whatsoever except swimmy head and ill- advised had too many pills stoned feeling.
I stood up from my desk and a bolt of pain shot through my hip and I keeled over. Am in bed , teary and unable to turn left or right.
I have the cat's healing paw on my shoulder. < weeps pathetically >

As you were

bigTillyMint · 24/05/2014 16:56

Oh poor youSad Is there no OOH GP at all?

QueenQueenie · 24/05/2014 17:01

Oh Crem. Sorry for the xposting - have just seen your horrible experience. How long has this been going on without getting any better? I think you need to get demanding with the GP asap. If you're too stoic they might think it's less serious than it is iykwim. Well that's my experience anyway. Does heat help? Would a chiropractor be any use?

cremolafoam · 24/05/2014 17:12

Three weeks and definitely getting worse. My male gp seems to think suffering is part if life so I'm seeing another female doc on Tuesday .
Am indeed considering chiro, osteo or acupuncture. But I want an MRI to get a proper diagnosis before attending. Could be a slipped or crushed disc, or could be a cyst blocking the nerve. Once I know I can do something practical. Pain relief in the meantime needs upped. I've now taken a weeks leave next week to get sorted. You're right it can't go on.Sad
I think if I'm worse tomorrow I'm going to A&E as Ooh dr likely to send me there tbh. < wonders if A&E have a loyalty card...

CointreauVersial · 24/05/2014 17:14

Crem, how miserable. Sad

I think my bra shop will be called "More than a Handful's a Waste".

Just heard that Derby County have just lost the Championship play-offs. Sad DSDad and his entire side of the family are avid supporters and season-ticket holders (DSB memorably travelled over from Australia simply to watch the last play-off; he was on British soil for exactly 26 hours Shock). DSDad and DM are currently airborne, so he won't know they've lost, but he'll be so gutted.

OP posts:
QueenQueenie · 24/05/2014 17:24

I think if the pain is so bad you fainted / feel faint then going to A and E is a real option. It sounds as if the GP has been pretty hopeless to date and if nothing has been done to rule out something serious then it needs to be done before things (possibly) get worse still. It's not ok to be in such pain for so long with no diagnosis / plan. What does dh think?

There's a long running back pain thread in General Health on here with extremely knowledgeable regulars on there - might be worth a look / asking them what they would advise?

Much sympathy.

bigTillyMint · 24/05/2014 17:34

I agree QQ - A&E or OOH doc Cremo.

CV, I'll be joining you in your bra shop! It'll be interesting to see what the JL fitter measures DD as tomorrow - she definitely doesnt take after me!

bigTillyMint · 24/05/2014 17:38

MI did you get the Grauniad today - just found an art in Yorkshire guide in it. Might be just in the Northern version though!

originalpiratematerial · 24/05/2014 17:44

cremolafoam - definitely go to A&E - at least they will sort you out with some proper pain relief. You poor thing Thanks.
