My turn......

Wow, Herbs, how on earth can they let anyone like this near a computer to respond to their "clients". I have to say when I email our CC they are usually pretty good: we get a response email and a case number. Usually the department involved follow up with a phone call. Trumpets - I single handedly got them to resurface a stretch of pavement in the village which had been badly damaged by trucks driving on it (including their own dustcart Hmm).

I have just spent 75 minutes on the wretched path -just one more long stretch to go and then DH can pressure wash it.

hattymattie · 16/05/2014 12:52

Herbs Grin. Is it normal to "escalate" requests or is this council jargon.

herbaceous · 16/05/2014 13:05

Council bollockspeak. And it doesn't need 'escalating' - it just needs someone to read my first effing email. Halfwits.

cremolafoam · 16/05/2014 13:21

Grin Oh herbs, as I work for a CC I recognise this scenario only too well.
Why send one email when 56 would be better ? It's designed to justify someone's job in Cleansing. GrinGrinGrin Whose salary you pay via your rates btw.
Arf. I don't participate in this spiral of madness in any way. No.

Our recycling bin is often full, but the normal gets barely half-full between us and our neighbours. I guess this is because we are so saintly.

bigTillyMint · 16/05/2014 13:29

Rudy, have you got a pressure washer? Path cleaning becomes really fun with one!Blush

I am studiously avoiding any comments re weeds (balefully eyes up patio...)

Yes Cremo it is a fun grading/regarding document which everyone from the cleaner up uses to try to prove that if they didn't exist the place would collapse (probably true of the cleaner actually)

Hello all. I did try on the Skirt of Hubris last night (tiny skirt bought in Hobbs sale last summer which is really too small for me). I got into it - just - but I don't think I could actually DO anything whilst wearing it not even sit at my desk

BUT I am not sure I can marshall the gargantuan effort that would be required to do anything about this state of affairs. So I've just had a cup of tea and a custard cream Confused

motherinferior · 16/05/2014 15:03

oh, that could be interesting!

I am doing something rather stressful and just knocked an entire glass of water over my keyboard.

bigTillyMint · 16/05/2014 15:14

Oooh Rudy, will that mean more meet-up possibilities?Wink

TFIF and the little lovelies have gone homeSmile

motherinferior · 16/05/2014 16:29

Herbs, your halo's getting tight. Grin

I have sort of finished the project that has been driving me mad but alas that means I've got to turn to another. And then stop. And then go to the supermarket and buy some booze.

NUFC69 · 16/05/2014 17:30

Ta da! I have finished the paths - DH can do the pressure washing and get his feet wet. I think I actually caught the sun whilst I was out there. I have told DH that dinner tonight is his job as he's been swanning off enjoying himself whilst I have been working.

Wine sounds good, MI, but I have forsworn (sp?) while I get rid of the excess weight. By the way did you decide on your holiday?

bigTillyMint · 16/05/2014 17:37

Just had a very expensive nice first ice-cream of the summer with the DC at the local emporium followed by half an hour in my new sunloungerSmile

CointreauVersial · 16/05/2014 17:39

There has been a lot of "eyeing weeds" today, it would seem, crepeys. Wink I just blitz the patio with Pathclear once a year (scorched earth policy). I do need to give the front garden a quick sort out, as several hundred people will be processing past tomorrow afternoon, admiring my collection of dandelions.

Herbs - I like the bureaucratic incompetence email sequence. We had a similar thing with the bank, who kept sending us two bank statements for our joint account (I pointed out that, as our finances were jointly held we could just possibly be trusted to share a piece of paper telling us how much money we have). After I complained, they stopped entirely, and we received nothing. I complained again, and now we're back to two statements. Angry

Off to the football club awards evening shortly. It's basically a good excuse for a social, and there's a BBQ so I don't have to cook.

Rudy, Wembley sounds exciting - fingers crossed for them!

DS's presentation do is Sunday - the boys have 45mins circuits, 45mins swimming (whilst we relax with a beer coffee) and then it's the presentation...

Rudy, yay!

originalpiratematerial · 16/05/2014 18:08

I am not allowed to use Pathclear or any other weedkiller by DS1, our prime conservationist (and, it has to be said, the only one of the five of us who actually likes gardening). He frets about the bees. So I have to dig weeds out with my trusty trowel.

originalpiratematerial · 16/05/2014 18:17

Oh yes - I've got a good example of right hand not knowing what the left hand is doing/bureaucratic bullshit going on atm with NPower.

They keep writing to me by snail mail apologising for not being able to contact me online, provide me with a statement etc. Whilst at the same time sending me emails and allowing me to log onto my statements online perfectly well. I have phoned them and told them this but still the snail mail letters keep arriving. Wtaf?

CointreauVersial · 16/05/2014 18:21

OPM - DH wouldn't know a weed if it bit him on the bollocks. I know chemical warfare isn't necessarily a Good Thing but it does save a whole heap of time. Pathclear is good stuff, as long as you don't get it anywhere you want to cultivate, so I just pour it into the gaps between the patio slabs.

I was doing some idle searching just now, and look what I found. The very first crepey thread. I'd forgotten just how many people used to be regulars, until it boiled down to the die-hards. First of the regular crepeys to appear was Ruby, followed by me, then BTM.

Do you know how I found the thread (as I couldn't remember what it was called)? I searched on "gunt" Grin
