I will speak to DH Shop and also a friend who is on the board of the TCT and is amazingly well connected.

I am having a dress dilemma too, I have a wedding to go to in two weeks, not a full on thing but an afternoon celebration at a lovely country hotel. I have nothing suitable to wear...am contemplating getting this to wear with blue rockstuds but am conscious that it will not be great CPW Confused, also what bag and what to keep warm if necessary?

Stokey · 22/04/2014 14:03

Lovely dress Sleep - my only slight caveat is wearing ivory at a wedding you risk looking like part of the wedding party. But the blue rockstuds should help with that.

I like this yellow Zara jacket which could work with the ivory and blue? Or there was the Marant-alike Mango one someone on here bought? Sorry can't remember who!

Sleepwhenidie · 22/04/2014 14:25

Thanks Stokey Smile - not sure about the yellow on me but I love the Mango Marant impersonator and have just ordered it as they only had small left (optimistic about it fitting, Mango can be tiny). I think that would look great with the dress and shoes. I liked the red version of the dress but its sold out.

Now - would you wear the dress to a launch evening, sort of a corporate thing but relaxed Confused and part concert?!

shopafrolic · 22/04/2014 14:40

Thanks Sleep

shopafrolic · 22/04/2014 14:43

I'm with Stokey, not sure about ivory to a wedding but the red is stunning - you might have to rethink shoes then though I guess. Can't see the mango link, just goes to the home page......so can't comment on the corporate thing.

Drywhiteplease · 22/04/2014 15:54

I love the dress and wouldn't worry about wearing it to a wedding unless accessorised with veil, bouquet, ivory shoes but then I've worn black and also green unlucky to weddings both couples are still married btw!

No squeaky feet here fedup Grin

I cant even get the mango link to pin the jacket but if you look at women- jackets its the beaded quilted one with blues/creams (I assume that's the one you meant Stokey)

Stokey · 22/04/2014 15:58

Yes it is that one - annoying website!

Is green unlucky Dry? Oh dear

Sleepwhenidie · 22/04/2014 16:24

ok - so green is out, cream is out, black is out - any more to make it even harder? Grin!

MarshaBrady · 22/04/2014 16:25

I did not know about green! A friend wore black to our summer wedding, she looked great.

Do others think black is out?

MarshaBrady · 22/04/2014 16:26
  • ie just in case I have to wear Lanvin. Still searching for a dress.
MarshaBrady · 22/04/2014 16:29

Actually it probably is a bit much in the daytime, late Spring wedding.

Sleepwhenidie · 22/04/2014 16:33

Ah I think they are all fine, it also depends a lot on how you accessorise and on the level of bridezilla type of wedding you are talking about. The celebration I am going to is very laid back I think. I know the bridesmaids are wearing pale pink, I'm unlikely to get confused with them too old anyway, especially in rockstuds as you say Stokey Smile.

MarshaBrady · 22/04/2014 16:34

It's a gorgeous dress Sleep.

MarshaBrady · 22/04/2014 16:39

Stokey have you watched House of Cards? We're really enjoying it. Except for the scene with Meacham (sp?) the driver that made us Hmm. Really good at the beginning then gets a bit hammy.

Shop glad you made it out and it was fun.

Stokey · 22/04/2014 16:46

We have Marsha - was just thinking about the Meacham thing after seeing a thread on chat Confused

Could spend all day looking at Claire's wardrobe.

We've changed from Sky to Virgin so no more Mad Men or GoT - making me rather mournful now that new series have started. But really should watch less telly now summer is coming.

Annianni · 22/04/2014 16:47

I got married in black.
Wear what you want Sleep.

Also... Queenc...
KEEP THE BLOODY DRESS!!!

That feels better
:o

MarshaBrady · 22/04/2014 16:53

Stokey me too, re Claire's wardrobe. Just found that thread, could have won an ipad. Darn!

Sad about Mad Men, it's truly brilliant. See if you can find a way to download it, is it anywhere.

waves at Anni.

Annianni · 22/04/2014 16:56

Mwah... big wet kiss for M cos I know she loves them :o

MarshaBrady · 22/04/2014 17:00

lol Anni Grin. So what have you bought lately? How are things?

Drywhiteplease · 22/04/2014 17:02

Anni was wondering where you'd got to.

I did not say green and black are out....I said I'd worn them, although not traditional wedding guest colours Green is one of my fav colours, sod the unlucky crap, I wore it! Grin
And, I'm going to be slated for this.....but I think dress codes at weddings are vulgar Hiasynth Bouquet tendencies reveal themselves after 2 years Sleep your wedding sounds lovely! like a laid back do....and I thought Paula Yates' red wedding dress was awesome , also Gwen steffani's Galliano (?)dip dyed pink dress was fab.Anni bet you looked amazing in black.

Hello all. Back home today, spent the afternoon with a good pal an her dc- she was admiring my outfit! I was surprised tbh! Hadn't put a lot of thought into it but my theory is Thanks to MNV I think I m probably starting to look a bit more put together.Grin
Nobody cult skinnies in olive green, in wear deep purple sweater with long Av mustard vest and Massimo dutti scarf with corded blazer.
Oh and giant slouchy shoulder bag - resurrected from the back of the wardrobe.
Dc all had fun.
I never knew green was unlucky at a wedding, I wouldn't have a problem wearing green to a wedding, but I d be careful with whites/ ivory etx, but I do think it can work too once accessorised nicely.
Queen, if you already have a dress option then I guess it s a good idea to send the other back. It a a really pretty dress though.

Turquoiseblue · 22/04/2014 17:09

Watched the last of HOC last night. Need to decide what to watch next.
It s between breaking bad and game of thrones.....

Sleepwhenidie · 22/04/2014 17:37

DH and I gave up on HOC after about 6 episodes, everyone is just so horrible! There was a humour about Walt and Jessie in Breaking Bad, even when they were doing awful things (at least in the first few seasons) I liked them and laughed at in spite of myself but I don't like anyone in HOC...
