Amber great news about holiday, where are you going?

That Zara jacket is lovely.

QueenCadbury · 20/04/2014 12:17

For some reason I thought there would be no ST today

I used to love Chelsea girl. I remember buying some huge silver earrings from there as well as numerous other things. Didn't it then become what is now river island?

QueenCadbury · 20/04/2014 12:18

Just googled and yes, Chelsea girl did become RI

AmberNectarine · 20/04/2014 12:48

Sunny Lanzarote Marsha. Is an acceptable flight time with my two crazy toddlers (currently leaping on the sofa next to me). We went three years ago and loved it.

Drywhiteplease · 20/04/2014 15:16

I bought a dress from Chelsea Girl sale rail in my teens that cost me £1... I loved the dress and the bargain can remember it exactly now.
Amber great place with little ones....I have to have a holiday to look forward to.

My first fashion nirvana happened via Chelsea Girl. At age 15 I fell in love with the softest leather bomber jacket with butter soft suede sleeves and a tie belt. It was ridiculously expensive (around £200 if I remember correctly -1985!!). My mum & dad bought me it for Christmas, along with some red fingerless gloves Shock. I may have looked like Michael Jackson, but I wanted to be buried in it.

AmberNectarine · 20/04/2014 18:16

Have ordered a few sundresses and a pair of shorts from ASOS. I just can't invest in summer clothes as they're so rarely worn. May splash on some nice swimwear though, I love We Are Handsome so maybe something from there.

Turquoiseblue · 20/04/2014 19:03

Hello all

Fab weekend here.
Sitting with peppermint tea and the papers while dh and dc play in the pool, after a fabulous lunch.
Wore this skirt with this top earlier! though changed to jeans and sweater for walk on the beach after.

Have to admit too haven't quite got footwear with pencil skirt right yet... That would be the mid heel sized gap in wardrobe I suppose I can do the slub t shirt and casual converse/ virgos, but struggled today as didn't have nice enough flats - I do high high courts but really don't feel me in them (too tall)

Linus hope you re better today.

Dry, me and em dresses are pretty long - I m 5-9 and can wear em with a flats and black heels, I have last years short sleeved ruched maxi and winter s long sleeved maxi Blush the quality is really good though, I ve worn both lots and lots (it s just a dress I love ...my style) and will wear them for a few seasons to come yet. If I didn't already have the two I d go for the racer back maxi .......

Drywhiteplease · 20/04/2014 19:19

Turq your day and outfits sound fab. For the pencil skirt I bought some kitten heel sling backs from Hobbs...I think they work and are less dressed up for daytime.

Happy Easter everyone!
The dc got given lots of chocolate eggs this year and I have no willpower I can go for ages without chocolate but once I start I find it difficult to stop!
welcome back dry sounds like you had a great time.
linus hope you are feeling better now and can enjoy the rest of your holiday.
Turq lovely skirt and top!
I am on the look out for some summer trousers in either mint /pastel green or a nice floral but am struggling to find anything I like. I have also been looking for a trench coat for ages but just can't find anything knee length or longer.

shopafrolic · 20/04/2014 20:10

Evening all, Happy Easter. I was due to have DPs for roast lamb lunch today but I am still suffering with this sickness bug so all plans were cancelled. Hope everyone else is happy and full of choc.
dry I love my Me&em maxi but I second Turq - it's long on me at 5ft9
What about this one

shopafrolic · 20/04/2014 20:15

Some really gorgeous holiday pieces at the Dressing Room at the moment. sunny day fashion

Turquoiseblue · 20/04/2014 20:25

Golly shop, that s lingering. Hope it goes away soon. It s horrible feeling below par, especially when it s a long weekend. Xx
Dry -kitten heel sound fab. I don't know if I could pull Off a kitten heel - maybe a little delicate for me, I think my feet are too awkward in them and I nearly mince the heel onto the ground as I m so deliberate in my strides Blush inelegant and it s funny whenever I ve tried a kitten heel I kindof wobble more than if I had a good 3-4 ing heel on.
Justa - will keep an eye for florals for you.
WineThanks

Drywhiteplease · 20/04/2014 20:35

I know what you mean Turq and don't think they're as flattering as higher heels! but being a short arse I can pull them off.
Poor you Shop drink loads of water.
this is the dress I like. I bought a similar style a couple of years ago in a very thin, cheap and horrid viscose jersey binned and have been looking for a more substantial jersey alternative. The MB one is close but I prefer the clean lines of the me + em. Being not quite 5ft3 I'd have to cut a lot off and often the straps are too long and I end up showing my bra not good. May order and try next month.

A question.......silver shoes, jeans and stone biker? I'm v matchy matcy, it doesn't work for me but am I being fussy? Other than black not keen on my blazer and navy don't have one what colours would you wear ?

Evening!

Quickly popping in to say I'm on the mend. Hearing is nearly back to normal but my ears still hurt occasionally.

And I don't have a fever anymore but my temperature is still quite raised so another early night for me.

My award for the best dressed fellow tourist tonight goes to a German granny looking great in an Tory Burch-esque (might have even been TB) tee and skirt combo accessorised with a stonking big Hermès enamel bangle which I would have 'relieved' her from if her grandson had not been standing next to her

The other people at the hotel

Who knew that the Creosote look was still fashionable.

shop hope you feel better soon.

santamarianovella · 20/04/2014 21:26

Oh shop hope you feel better soon, lots of rest, you've had it really bad ,Flowers

linus that's good news,

grumpy I loled at your leather jacket and fingerless gloves combo,

turq that top is really pretty,

dry I was looking for maxi dress, but still haven't found anything I like,so I gave up,

marsha I really love acid wash jeans, but I've yet to find one I like ,see lots on pin,but can't find out were they are from,

maradesbois · 20/04/2014 21:58

Happy Easter MNVers

shop sorry you're still feeling rotten, especially on a holiday weekend. Hope it clears up this week.

marsha I remember stone wash first time round too, bought a ruffled skirt and matching jacket from the market when I was 11 or 12 and thought i was the height of sophistication in our village with my double denim!

linus I have the largest size 'h' bangle but find it a bit too bulky and don't wear it much, you might want to check out some other grannies with smaller ones!

turq sounds like a lovely day and that you are somewhere warm. The south of France is freeeezing, we had a lovely Easter lunch but I went out with bare legs and had to put seat warmers on in car for drive home. Really rubbish weather the last few days. Hope it picks up soon as haven't brought anything warmer than a blazer and cashmere scarf.

dry think it was you who mentioned hair, am obsessed with defrizzing/straightening and while can easily forego makeup i do feel rubbish if my hair is a mess. Even though the poker straight look is no longer even fashionable I can't help but covet it, think its a bit of a control thing about needing order.

Really excited about tomorrow. Have planned a surprise birthday lunch for dh in a 2 star michelin place (is a big birthday) and invited a group of his best friends. Gps are babysitting so will be relaxing too. My only problem is what to wear. Would like to give my outnet wang clutch its first outing but not sure with what. Have really not packed in anticipation of this unexpected cold spell.

QueenCadbury · 20/04/2014 22:04

Great outfit grumpy Grin
shop hope you feel bêtter soon
linus glad you're feeling better
mara sounds fab. What are your outfit options?
dry silver and stone wouldn't work for me either (also quite matchy matchy although probably not as bad as you Smile). How about a grey jacket?

BrandyAlexander · 21/04/2014 07:24

Happy Easter everyone! Sorry to hear about your illnesses Shop and LinusThanks

I did an Easter Egg hunt for the kids in the house (based on idea from NetmumsGrin) which was brilliant, the kids totally loved it. At 6.30am yesterday morning when I was writing the clues, I felt less charitable about it! We had 10 to Easter lunch and it's the first time we have used our dining room in new house so that was great. It was great to have a houseful of kids and noiseSmile

Easter Day outfit was Hobbs Peggy dress with these Carvella limelight pumps.

We had a manic day (in fact been manic since we got back so hoping to do nothing today!).

Happy Easter Monday everyone!

Stokey · 21/04/2014 07:55

Outift sounds lovely Novice - meant to tell you my green Freya bikini is a coupleof years old - Maybe they do a different colour each year?

And Turq lovely skirt and top, what about brogues with pencil skirts, or too casual/worky?

Like the me & Em dress Dry, also really like the v-necked one. I am also a rather small 5ft 3 so concerned about the length (and not handy with a sewing machine) so let me know if you do get it. Think stone jacket, jeans & silver shoes sound fine - maybe depends how dark the jeans are? Think the darker may be better with the contrast. (but am not very matchy!)

Great Chelsea Girl outfit Grumpy, I remember a denim ra-ra skirt from there I was particularly fond of.

Hope you feel better Shop and Linus

And best of luck for DH lunch Mara

BrandyAlexander · 21/04/2014 08:28

Stokey, I think you're right that they do it in a different colour each season. Just googled your green one and it's really lovely.

I love Me&Em stuff but those dresses would drown my shortie self!

Sleepwhenidie · 21/04/2014 08:39

Happy Easter everyone, sorry some of you are suffering, hope you feel better soon. Loving the Chelsea Girl memories, Grumpy you clearly had amazing taste from a very young age Grin.

Re hair, I was reading a thread rhapsodising about the parlux ionic hair dryer yesterday, apparently no need for straighteners?

Fedupnagging · 21/04/2014 08:39

Feeling a little 'jaded' this morning. Think we will have a quiet day today.

Mara hope your dh enjoys his birthday. It all sounds very lovely.

Dry good luck with your maxi dress hunt. I love maxi dresses and skirts but do struggle to find ones that look good - short and a bit dumpy is not a good combo.

Your Chelsea girl jacket and gloves sound fab 'Grumpy'. Very early Madonna or Bananarama. I seem to remember loving my 'pegs' in a fleck brown, jazz funk belt and shoes.

Drywhiteplease · 21/04/2014 09:20

I've just been reading the Recovering Shopaholic blog and am wondering how, after my big sort out at the beginning of the year 5 1/2 bin bags my wardrobe still looks full? Confused
Novice we used to do egg hunts and I felt really bad yesterday when DD asked why we don't do them any more Sad
Have a good day all Smile
