shop have you tried sticking it in the fridge?

Lovely blue skies and sun here, cup of tea, style mag and you guys. What more could a girl want on a Sunday morning Smile.

I went to bed pondering turqs question of what to wear to go out in the summer saddo. Two things came to mind..1, at least in winter, you know you're dressing for the cold but summer evenings can range from a chilly 13 to a balmy 30 and obv difficult to judge what it'll be in advance. 2, it's easy to stray into wedding guest territory wearing a summer dress and heels.

So, today's question is what would you wear to an evening birthday party in June? Hit me with inspiration so it can be pure fantasy or anything you already own....

QueenCadbury · 13/04/2014 08:26

I'm fantasy shopping at the moment and amber I saw this and thought of you.

MarshaBrady · 13/04/2014 08:28

Sounds lovely Queen, I will be joining you, with coffee and sunshine.

Shop ds dropped the ipad in the bath, kaput. It came back to life recently after six months!

Santa I meant to put - it's you - on the end of my we know the real hot Grin

Blair I love that top, perfect for the Stella skirt. Plus it can be annoying to have too much material to tuck into a pencil skirt, so a good way to go.

Novic how is your dh feeling?

Drywhiteplease · 13/04/2014 08:37

Rain has stopped play.....so I'm checking in.
Novice lots of love to you and all of your family.xx

Shop great question.
My answer is predictable...always a dress and heels. But it really depends on the venue. Inside is easy, outside in June is a nightmare. I went to a friend's house for dinner last May/June. Wore my Whistles Bella dress and heels (bit wedding guest) she had just had her amazing courtyard finished and was determined for us to eat outside using her new furniture. I nearly died the patio heater was broken. A week later I went to a cocktail making night, wore my fav LBD and heels ( some were in skinnies and tops, heels) but I didn't feel over dressed.
Where I live it does seem more dressed up or maybe it's the people I mix with. I love the London jeans and top/jacket for going out but when I try it here I feel very dressed down.
Yup....depends on the event, the venu and what you feel 'you' in.

Fashion wise here I think I'veacked well. Italians are very chic but it's classic, groomed and accessorised from what I can see. My jeans, stone leather jacket, ballet flats or coloured trainers with nice bag combo seems just right.

Santa I'm gesticulating a lot now sounds painful

Morning all,

novice hope your dh is feeling better and you can all enjoy the rest of your holiday.
shop just saw your post re tea/computer. Ds spilled a whole cup of coffee in my MacBook Air a couple of months ago. I tipped out as much of the liquid as I could then got it fixed by a local guy for less than £200 so cheaper than a new one and works perfectly again.
blair you sound young and slim, enjoy your crop top wearing years! Have you road tested stella skirt yet?
queenc love a bit of fantasy shopping, what have you chosen for yourself?
dry sounds like you packed the right wardrobe for Italy. I love the Italian classic chic look, elegant casual with great accessories and the ubiquitous sunglasses!

Having a lovely morning with dh, just the two of us for breakfast coffee today. Off to start holiday packing in a minute, so much to do but love the anticipation of going away. Will probably be back later for advice.

maradesbois · 13/04/2014 09:11

Also in answer to turq question I wear skinnies with heels, silk sleeveless tops and blazer with clutch otherwise dress for smart restaurant. Not very good at separates but liking pencil skirt with tucked in tee look at the moment. May have to invest in a good skirt when weight is down to where I want. Still a few kilos to go but on right track!

shopafrolic · 13/04/2014 09:16

Morning all. I bring exciting Wang news

QueenCadbury · 13/04/2014 09:37

mara I didn't get very far fantasy shopping as the kids wanted to play with me.

I have 2 parties to go to. Same friends so different outfits preferably! One is in the midlands and will be a mixture of indoor (dancing) and outdoor (BBQ) and the second is in a bar in Leeds. I feel comfortable in 7/8 trousers, blouse and heels usually so will probably go for that usual combo although if I can find a dress that doesn't look too wedding guest then I'll get that. I'd really like to try on a jumpsuit and if I was 10 years younger I would definitely consider a playsuit.

QueenCadbury · 13/04/2014 09:39

lush

Secretsquirrel13 · 13/04/2014 09:42

Queen C I would wear a Catherine malandrino silk jumpsuit in emerald with black wedge sandals and a very statementy necklace. Plus a black biker jacket for when it gets chilly. Pure fantasy shopping but I'll get you some links!
Novice- sounds dreadful hope your dh is improving now and your dsis ok.
Shop a whole cup of tea!! Hope apple can help.
Blair- crop top, yikes!
Dry I forgot to ask how the packing went glad you got it right.
Maradesbois that's pretty much what I would wear for nights out, fits in well here.
Gloomy day today, think it may rain. I have a bag I bought from HoF in January that I may return even if they give me a credit note. Wonder if they'll let me.

QueenCadbury · 13/04/2014 09:42

if I was younger

Secretsquirrel13 · 13/04/2014 09:45

I love love live this

QueenCadbury · 13/04/2014 09:46

I like this but would prefer navy to black.

QueenCadbury · 13/04/2014 09:47

Wowsers squirell that is tres lush. One of my best colours too!

Secretsquirrel13 · 13/04/2014 09:47

this for when it gets cooler

Secretsquirrel13 · 13/04/2014 09:48

Now shoes and necklace hmmm need to think.

QueenCadbury · 13/04/2014 09:51

What are people's thoughts on sequins for summer? Too wintery? I have this top which I wondering about styling with rolled up jeans/heels but would that look naff/too casual?

QueenCadbury · 13/04/2014 09:53

So it would look like this.

QueenCadbury · 13/04/2014 09:55

I love this dress although haven't seen it irl but is it too wedding-y?

Secretsquirrel13 · 13/04/2014 09:58

QueenC I like the sequins and jeans look but would wear to regular night out etc, depends if you think the hosts will get dressed up.

Decameron · 13/04/2014 11:23

That dress is gorgeous, QueenC, don't think it is too wedding guest at all.

I wear dresses more at night in summer but quite often jeans and a nice top. We tend to go to fairly casual places when we go out or have the kids with us.

Have a good holiday, Maradesbois (and Santa and Dry).

Hope they can fix your laptop, Shop.

I'm off to the Me & Em sale (in Chiswick if anyone is close by). Hope it's good as bringing DH and his credit card. :)

Secretsquirrel13 · 13/04/2014 11:42

Decam am v envious I wish I could get to the sample sale. If you see any long sleeve longline layering tops in white navy or grey please let me know!!

MarshaBrady · 13/04/2014 12:57
