New thread for chatting. Oh and swapping S&B tips.

Having a manic day here - INSET day at school and I have 7 kids (inc my 3) over for lunch. While also trying to "work from home" and talk to removal people.

Blackduck · 23/04/2012 21:45

Creped crusaders? Knickers over tights? Such a good look. Feel seven again!!
Spent a meeting today being slagged off, fun, not...

CointreauVersial · 24/04/2012 00:27

Great thread title, Wilbur.Grin

Slagged off, BD? Why?

MrsSchadenfreude · 24/04/2012 07:47

Love the thread title...

Yes, why, BD?

I should be en route to the office now, but am slumped on the bed. Must get up...

bigTillyMint · 24/04/2012 08:03

Maybe we can dress up on our next Meet-up?Grin

I'm off to meet a friend in town - will do some face sunblock shopping - it's a must in this weather!

Anyone elses girls getting all secretive? DD had a few tears last night - thought it might be BF trouble (DS piped up that he betted she'd been dumped), but as she wouldn't tell anyone.... anyways she went out very bubbly this morning, so maybe it's all sorted! I know they are growing up, but I feel a bit sad that I can't know every last detail of her life any more Sad

Blackduck · 24/04/2012 08:12

Not me personally, but the School I work for. Essentially the head honcho said at least four times in an hours meeting 'I give up on Blackduck's school' and then proceeded to tell the other schools what they needed to do to come in line, but ignored me..... (we are much reviled in the wider institution) I had been warned it was going to be like that, but I was just Shock at how blatant it was and how unprofessional....

herbaceous · 24/04/2012 08:21

It seems to be Arse Boss week. Work really does smell, doesn't it.

Help me crepeys, I've lost my shopping mojo. I went to Westfield Stratford yesterday - without DS - and failed to buy anything other than nappies, hair dye and other tedious essentials. Although I did get some of that S&G 'Wish upon a jar' stuff.

I only saw a couple of things I would actually wear. All that's 'with it' is the most unflattering possible cut - huge baggy tops over tight or 'peg' trousers. Just what's needed on an aging pear.

I did finger this, but glad I didn't try it on. Looks weird on the model, so god knows what it would be like on me...

Running a play session today, then a committee meeting this evening. O god. And had Words with DP last night about how his being grumpy, ignoring me and being rude is actually quite upsetting. Now feel guilty for upsetting HIM. Gah.

bigTillyMint · 24/04/2012 08:23

BD, sounds unpleasant for you. Are you in admin at the school? DH's school is a non-conformer and hated by the LA.....

Herbs, I must have xposted this morning! I'm with you and ruby on the shopping front - I went up to Oxford Street to meet a friend for lunch and all I came back with was new kitchen scales and 2 new mugsGrin Oh, and some of the Clinique sun block!

ruby, what was your dilemma and what was the answer???? I am currently in limbo over going back full-time (am secretly hoping that the job we thought was coming up isn't actually coming up....)

herbaceous · 24/04/2012 15:51

Have now booked this gaff for our hol at the end of May. Hoorah! Please God let it be nice weather, at least some of the time.

Let me in on your favourite activies, all you Lyme Regis fans!

bigTillyMint · 24/04/2012 15:55

Oooh, looks lovely! I think you can go fossil hunting there? I have never beenSmile

TheReturnOfStropperella · 24/04/2012 16:45

Ha, herbs, this is not very far from where we are. I can recommend Seaton tramway . And Abbotsbury Swannery has lots of cygnets at that time - and you can get a joint ticket which covers entry to the Swannery, Sub-tropical gardens (right by Chesil Beach) and the Children's Farm in Abbotsbury. As far as eateries go, you may like this . I really liked it, but it is "Boden-on-Sea" according to dh. The owner has also opened a new place in West Bay here.

For fossil hunting, try Charmouth. There is an absolutely excellent visitor centre there with lots of child-friendly info and beach rangers who will tell you what to look for. Rock pools also good. ds's class are going to the Fossil Festival there next week.

:)

CointreauVersial · 24/04/2012 17:15

I knew Strops would pop out of the woodwork with some handy Lyme Regis tips! I have only been there a couple of times, so don't have any specific recommendations but it's a sweet little town, nice shops, cafes and galleries. The fossil shops are like mini-museums.

You can chill out on the beach, or get yourself a crab line and some bait, and DS can catch supper!

The accommodation looks v. posh. We are staying in one of these - not quite so classy.

bigTillyMint · 24/04/2012 17:50

CV, I thought it said a "Dungalow"Grin Not as flash as Herbs's, but it looks great!

TheReturnOfStropperella · 24/04/2012 18:02

Oh and obvs do not forget your cape for recreating that "French Lieutenant's Woman" shot on The Cobb. Grin

CV, your holiday accommodation looks very nice. All this talk of hols, I am feeling a bit Envy.

CointreauVersial · 24/04/2012 18:06

It is called a "Duingalow" because the holiday park is called Duinrell - see what they did there? Hmm

bigTillyMint · 24/04/2012 18:30

I realised that after I snurked Grin

TheReturnOfStropperella · 24/04/2012 18:52

And there is a real ale festival on in Lyme and a Jazz and Blues w/e at the end of May, I think. OK, I'll shut up now with my local what's on gubbins.

Mind you, there is, I feel, an excess of "festivals" going on round our way this year. Festival of Cheese, Folk Festival, Jurassic Coast Festival, Festival of Alpacas, you name it, there is a festival for it... What's with all the festivities, eh? I used to like a good beer festival, but I misplaced a child once during one such event and it sort of put me off after that. That and the stonking hangover.

CointreauVersial · 24/04/2012 19:06

Festival of Cheese??! Now you're talking.

herbaceous · 24/04/2012 19:06

Thanks Strops! I've also read the Mill House is very nice, and probably Boden-inclined.

And yes - we're arriving the weekend of the Jazz and Beer festival, which is something of a result.

CV - your Duingalow looks highly luxurious. Better than CenterParcs [sic]. And with plenty of lavs.

TheReturnOfStropperella · 24/04/2012 19:31

CV - just for you

And yes, I have been grin

TheReturnOfStropperella · 24/04/2012 19:32

Hehehe - linked me Grin Grin

bigTillyMint · 24/04/2012 19:39

Sounds like DH's idea of heaven - real ale and cheese Smile
