Starting a thread as it is only weeks away.

The Welsh cyclist who I saw win a medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games and the raising of the Welsh flag will be there- Emma Finucaine, one of the fastest women in the world on a cycle.

I'm so excited, a games with only an hours time difference so no middle of the night wake ups. Working from home so can catch loads of random sports.

It's the US gymnastics trials this week, which will be a spectacular warm up.

I'm ready to cheer on my sofa, be uncharacteristically patriotic and have opinions on sports I know f all about.

OneApplicationCanChangeYourLife · 29/06/2024 22:29

We've got tickets. Am very excited to share this experience with my children. And for the first time ever I've already started packing for our holiday normally I'm a day before chuck it all in 🤣

chocolatemousse3 · 21/07/2024 19:51

I am going with my son (10 y.o). Any ideas of things to do apart from the typical ones? Does the Asterix Parc worth it?

the80sweregreat · 23/07/2024 07:51

Placemarking for the opening ceremony on Friday . Might be a bit different ( according to what I've read)

kiterunning · 24/07/2024 20:24

So much drama already in the football. An incredible match between Argentina and Morocco.
Loving the rugby 7s too!

GrouchyKiwi · 24/07/2024 20:25

The opening ceremony sounds like it's going to be interesting. Just hope there aren't any sharks.

kiterunning · 25/07/2024 18:57

Rugby quarter finals tonight and a very tasty match between France and Argentina..

Therealmetherealme · 26/07/2024 07:40

Hi,

I'm really excited and icily have Discovery+ for lots of the action. Has anyone found a good schedule to print out?

TokyoSushi · 26/07/2024 08:05

Checking in!

backfromouterspace · 26/07/2024 08:44

I love how I'll be able to watch most of it this time round due to the 1 hour time difference . Although I'll be doing my usual and thinking I'm an expert in gymnastics/diving after watching it for an hour 😂😂😂 "well that was a very good triple pike"

Fizbosshoes · 26/07/2024 08:53

Im so excited, I've heard lots of ads on the radio, of commentary from previous years and it literally makes the hairs on my arms stand up. I remember super Saturday 2012 being amazing. I remember jumping up and screaming at the tv, and my kids (who were 2 and 6) were quite bewildered! 🤣
and I set my alarm on holiday in 2016, for about 2am so I could go and watch Mo Farah!!
DD is not interested in sport, so she's going to hate the next few weeks!

kiterunning · 26/07/2024 19:56

Oh dear it's pouring down at the opening ceremony.

burblish · 26/07/2024 20:02

I'm feeling pretty underwhelmed by the opening ceremony so far, sad to say. I do feel very sorry for all those who put so much work into it, only for it to be rained on. The concept of the opening ceremony being staged along the river was really intriguing, but it falls flat for me and feels really disjointed. A shame.

kiterunning · 26/07/2024 20:02

Can't be good for the athletes- getting drenched!

MotherOfCatBoy · 26/07/2024 20:15

I’m watching it now on the telly, on holiday in France. Everyone looks like they’re having a good time and I’ve enjoyed the creativity. Great that they featured the statues of women. Sad for them that they are getting absolutely drenched.

MotherOfCatBoy · 26/07/2024 21:13

Mind you, some of jt is dinstinctly Eurovision…

CrushingOnRubies · 27/07/2024 11:05

Woop woop just got our first GB medal ... bronze in the 3m women's diving synchro 😄 well done ladies

LuckysDadsHat · 27/07/2024 11:13

Just watching the diving bronze medal. The GB tracksuit seems unfortunate and makes them look like Miss Trunchbull

Supergirl1958 · 27/07/2024 11:37

Is there one for coverage like a live thread?
currently watching day one! It’s been great so far! Lovely bronze for the girls in the 3m synchro!

Oblomov24 · 27/07/2024 12:21

Enjoying the swimming and rowing.
Shame about the rain.

Oblomov24 · 27/07/2024 12:21

Opening ceremony last supper was disgusting.

Marshtit · 27/07/2024 12:46

A well deserved bronze medal for women's synchronised diving. It is Team GB's first medal in women's diving for 64 years.
so emotional

braaaiiins · 27/07/2024 12:52

Really enjoyed the the ceremony yesterday and now I'm waiting for the women's time trial race to start. Got to watch Judo, swimming and volleyball this morning, i do love the Olympics. Will definitely be watching rugby sevens later too cause the qualifiers were great fun.

AndNobbyDancing · 27/07/2024 12:55

I'm having to watch on BBC, as I'm not at home. Not impressed so far

And I agree @Oblomov24 and for other reasons.

mydogisthebest · 27/07/2024 12:58

Why on earth have the BBC got Gordon Ramsey? Didn't realise he was a sportsman unless swearing non stop qualifies as a sport
