The Welsh cyclist who I saw win a medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games and the raising of the Welsh flag will be there- Emma Finucaine, one of the fastest women in the world on a cycle.

Watching the Swimming here. They amaze me. Waiting to see Simone Biles in the gymnastics shortly.

Biles was outstanding considering what her head must have been going through. I can highly recommend her doco on Netflix.

In GB sport, you are a commodity. You are treated like one.

you are the product. Medals equal lottery funding. Lottery funding keeps a bunch of (mainly) middle aged men in jobs and gives them way too much power.

MHI are ignored. You are ignored if those middle aged men think someone else will get them the medal, and they think someone with MHI isn’t “strong” enough for sport.

i can’t blame any athlete for not feeling positive about Team GB.

people think the Team GB machine supports athletes. Unless you are very lucky- and there are some people who do get incredible support- it’s the opposite- the athletes support Team GB.

@toomanytonotice adam Peaty has been the poster boy of British swimming for the last three Olympics, is it any wonder he struggled. IIRC he’s recently been diagnosed with ADHD, which as someone who can’t afford a diagnosis, let alone waiting the 8 years (as publicised this week) is pretty tough to bear undiagnosed. He’s has a lot to juggle, a young child, the break up of his relationship, the ADHD diagnosis, let alone managing the weight of expectation! I don’t follow swimming that religiously but I know enough and I think it’s fair to say Adam has had it tough recently. His interviews all over the beeb have been a little tough to watch to be honest!!
