Starting a thread as it is only weeks away.

The Welsh cyclist who I saw win a medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games and the raising of the Welsh flag will be there- Emma Finucaine, one of the fastest women in the world on a cycle.

I really didn't like the two girl divers interview where I thought they were very unsporting, a bit like Adam Peaty loss at the swimming championships where he wasn't sporting in his first loss for years).

there's something unsporting and not graceful about accepting that the Australians had unfortunately mucked up there dive badly, and the way they handled it when questioned, instead of showing sympathy, and grace, they just said they were pleased. Which I'm sure they were. But you can still show grace to others mistake, that then meant you got a bronze. I thought their attitude was very poor.

I agree, utterly diabolical and perverse.

Great start to the hockey. It is going to be tough for both teams as they really are facing the best in the world - plenty of good teams didn't even qualify and there are no easy pool matches. But the men couldn't have had a much better first match. Fingers crossed it continues!

His daughter is dating Adam Peatey.

Fred Siriex is also part of the coverage and swore before half eight this am I believe!

What difference does that make? Are we to expect other girlfriend/boyfriend's fathers to appear?

I missed the bronze medal but I am now watching BBC1 main coverage and enjoying it, still very wet in Paris

I'm watching the women's cycling time trial. Poor Taylor Knibb of the US has fallen three times. It is so wet out there. Her mechanic has taken a tumble or two as well.

Luckily the mechanic didn't damage the replacement bike when he slipped.

Considering I can't balance on any type of bike I'm in awe of these cyclists especially in such wet conditions too.

i didnt find the divers unsympathetic, they werent asked to show sympathy,
they are all there for a medal after all

Nasty conditions out there. Well done Anna Henderson, but Grace Brown was amazing.

I bet the men are viewing that corner with deep suspicion.

I'm watching bits of the men's gymnastics while cleaning. Not interested in watching anything else that's on today I don't think.

Rugby sevens was very exciting

GR is actually pretty involved in sport, he did triathlon himself for a while, and he supports a few athletes with their training etc.

rather him than Fred sirieix anyway.

I love the rugby sevens. Much more fun than 15 aside.

I take it all the crap filler on the BBC is because they have hardly any rights to live footage

so annoying all the views of the buildings when we were trying to watch the cycling! absurd

@mydogisthebest as I said Fred siriex is part of the BBC coverage. Don’t know that he has much sporting pedigree, but his daughter is part of the GB diving squad I believe.

I don't watch rugby but rugby sevens is quite exciting

Tracksuits are an awful design! Looks like they have them tucked into socks. Surely the designer could come up with better than that.

And the outfits of the helpers near the medal podium were bad too - beige slacks look terrible!
