Starting a thread as it is only weeks away. The Welsh cyclist who I saw win a medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games and the raising of the Welsh flag will be there- Emma Finucaine, one of the fastest women in the world on a cycle.

Now the women's final we never even saw the GB team come out. The coverage is shocking. Disgraceful, not blaming bbc for this, but the whole coverage of the Olympics is just awful.

The medals themselves are just ugly and vile too!

Agree, coverage is awful. It has been crap since the BBC has lost the rights. I've got Discovery but that is pretty crap as well

Bloody love the Olympics.

Watching the swimming now in an attempt to improve my own stroke. But they move so quickly, I can't see haha

I don't like the way the swimming is shown. I can't follow it. I can't work out what is going on. You can't follow which team is winning as the take-overs happen on the team relays.

Both the men's and women's 400m freestyle races were fantastic, esp the women's. It was pretty much a foregone conclusion that the medallists would be Titmuss, Macintosh and Ledecky - the only question was in what order!

I'm so pleased that Adam Peaty seems to have found his form again, after some really difficult times. I applaud him for speaking so openly about his struggles (ditto the likes of Simone Biles and Max Whitlock) - I hope it inspires other sportspeople to feel they don't have to hide away on their own when they have mental health issues.

It’s still raw for him, the interview he did with the beeb and his tears! Poor guy! Really feel for him. He’s had to make some difficult professional and personal decisions! Can’t have been easy for him :(

I get that but even before that I never got the adoration for him

There is no adoration. For me I tend to support British medal hopes because I’m British! I cried watching the diving this morning and cried listening to the time trial this afternoon (I was walking my dog in case anyone is interested!). I’d never heard of Yasmin/Scarlett and Anna before today…no adoration just genuine pride for success! I really despise people who love to hate because they feel like people are jumping on the bandwagon, instead of feeling happy. God knows there is enough going on in this country/the world currently! Let’s get behind the team!

@Supergirl1958 I couldn't agree with you more about the divers or the cyclist but say you support a football team doesn't mean you have to like every member of the team. There are 327 members of team GB human nature not to be taken by everyone of them

I actually like every player on my favourite football team. The one I didn’t like has just gone elsewhere! But there was a genuine well publicised reason I didn’t like him and he didn’t play for us last season so…

happy to see Anna Henderson on the front page of some newspapers for winning silver
as well as the divers Scarlett Mew Jensen and Yasmin Harper who seem to have over shadowed her in some papers with their bronze

I think because they were the first women to win a medal in their diving for over 60 years and also because they were the first to win a medal for GB on the first day for 20 years!
