Ear wax lump from hell

I’ve had earache for a couple of weeks, well today I touched my ear and was like “what the hell is that”. A HUGE lump of wax was hanging halfway out of my ear.

Are you ready for this?? I still can’t believe it 🤣

That's gross but lovely.... like getting a great spot. I had my ears syringed and asked for the wax to be put in a sample bottle to take home and show my husband. Don't know why but he wasn't impressed !

LTB. Who wouldn’t be impressed with that?

I run an ear wax removal clinic and believe me that's average... quite impressive that it came out on it's own though!

Doctor here. That is certainly not a lump of ear wax. Possibly something that got in your ear - but also unlikely as you could still hear. And that is about twice as wide as a normal ear canal. If not more. I’d probably book to see your own doctor tbh

Not a doctor here. Just a lifelong owner of weird ear canals that produce a shit tonne of wax that doesn't vacate on it's own.
I have no idea why you think Ruby isn't earwax, especially seeing you're a doctor! And ear canals come on different sizes you know.

The husband was struggling with his hearing and thought he had wax build up, so treated it with the usual drops from the pharmacy. A few days later he coughed and a ball of wax the size of a marble flew out. He was so proud, you'd have thought it was his first born child. Sadly no photos, but it wasn't as impressive as yours 🤭

Ear canals can absolutely be dilated by hardened wax expanding in them. I frequently have my ears syringed and suctioned and produce some monster balls of wax.

I have just been with my teenager to get his ears microsuctioned. The wax in one of them was so well-stuck that the guy had to squirt a load of water in to loosen it. I obviously give off A Vibe, because he suddenly shouted 'Got it!' and turned round delightedly to show me - a huge black lump the exact size and shape of an ear canal. Sadly I was not quick enough to snap a photo but my goodness, it was a beauty.

But surely you brought it home to put under his pillow for the Earwax Fairy? I think your teen has been robbed of at least £10 there.
