Ear wax lump from hell

I’ve had earache for a couple of weeks, well today I touched my ear and was like “what the hell is that”. A HUGE lump of wax was hanging halfway out of my ear.

Are you ready for this?? I still can’t believe it 🤣

Gross guilty pleasure is getting DH’s wax out. We’ve had some absolutely belters but this is something else. Proper conker!! No more selective hearing for you OP 😭.

That's gross but lovely.... like getting a great spot. I had my ears syringed and asked for the wax to be put in a sample bottle to take home and show my husband. Don't know why but he wasn't impressed !

There are some really good? Videos on YouTube by a couple of guys called audiology associate. They deal with ear wax/cleaning and they really get some gunky ears. They also have a lovely Welsh accent ❤️😅

Doctor here. That is certainly not a lump of ear wax. Possibly something that got in your ear - but also unlikely as you could still hear. And that is about twice as wide as a normal ear canal. If not more. I’d probably book to see your own doctor tbh

Are you an ear doctor because my sister had something very similar sized come out of her ear and was told it was normal.

No, I’m not a specific ear doctor (an ENT) but still managed a 6 year degree and we cover a lot!

It also felt exactly like hardened wax, I squished it to make sure nothing else inside it!

And the discomfort I had has gone now.

The earache started after a holiday when I was swimming a lot, possible I made it worse by poking at my ear when it was uncomfortable.

When DS was about 5 he failed his primary school hearing test and was referred on.

At the clinic he failed again and the Dr tried to have a good look in his ears. But DS had a lot of trauma of medical staff due to having had loads of operations already.

Anyway based on family history and testing he was booked in for grommets.

At the pre-op appointment they managed to find DS in a good mood. Got in his ear with a tweezers and pulled out a piece of wax as thick and long as my little finger FROM BOTH EARS!!!

It was amazing!!!!!

But I am still really annoyed 8 years on I didnt either ask to take it home in a little plastic pot or at least take a picture.

One of the best things I've ever seen.

I have cornflake earwax so hardly ever get any, then just will have a pop and lying in my ear (well?) is a little crispy bit of very thin pale yellow very hard wax.
Not overly satisfying due to the infrequently.

I've got an ovarian cyst like that. Fortunately it's only got hair and skin/fatty tissue in it, I think teeth would have really freaked me out.
