What on Earth is this and what do I do with it?!

This is in a VERY delicate area and is absolute agony.

That looks like an ingrown hair, I'm assuming on the bikini area? You need to pop it like a spot then with a pair of tweezers gently pull the hair out. It will probably bleed a fair bit but keep going until the swelling goes down. Dab it until the bleeding stops then put some sudo on it xx

This, sadly I get them often and I've had some crackers over the time!

QuebecBagnet · 10/06/2022 20:38

I would definitely be sticking a needle in that.

Dunnoburt · 10/06/2022 20:39

In the words of Scrappy Doo.... Lemme at it! Lemme at it!......... In all fairness that looks sore, get a sterile needle in it!

user1473878824 · 10/06/2022 20:40

if it was on me I’d squeeze it but as it’s on you DON’T. A damp flannel as hot as you can stand on top and repeat until it drains and then a doctor! Definitely don’t pull it apart rather than squeezing it, isn’t that how you can spread any infection deeper?

Pantsomime · 10/06/2022 20:40

Don’t squeeze if on bikini line as it may go in your femoral artery and cause sepsis. I know someone who had small operation to remove a hair boil due to this very reason

Cherryblossoms85 · 10/06/2022 20:41

Looks like all those pictures of monkeypox to me

SummerWillow · 10/06/2022 20:43

I was thinking monkeypox too!

Kenwouldmixitup · 10/06/2022 20:43

where are you op 😭

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 10/06/2022 20:44

I’d have to stab it tbh…in a really hot bath to soften it up

Somanymistakes · 10/06/2022 20:45

EmilyBolton · 10/06/2022 20:26

Fgs..do not try to stab this yourself. You have a picture so call for GP practice phone appointment…the practice nurse can deal with it or go into pharmacy and ask for private consult with pharmacist and show them the picture …do not listen to old wives tales on here.

Look. You are being unnecessarily rude.

I'm no longer a wife. I'm not terribly old.
How about Demented Witches? Obsessive SpotWhores? Sporninators?

I just think we deserve more pizzazz than Old Wives.

Hercisback · 10/06/2022 20:47

Needle and hot flannel. Not worth bothering the NHS with.
Don't just squeeze, needle gives a clear edit channel.

Hugasauras · 10/06/2022 20:49

Ooft that's glorious (and looks really sore, sorry OP!).

Cyhiraeth74 · 10/06/2022 20:49

I have had Hidradenitis suppurativa NHS - HS for over 20 years. It comes and goes.

Its bloody uncomfortable when these ‘boils’ emerge in your privates. To those who are recommending that OP doesn’t pop it there is a real likelihood it will pop by itself when they walk, put underwear on, cross their legs, or go to bed.

I used to try and let it go down by itself but have taken to extraction in (or just after) a warm bath. It’s momentarily unpleasant but I prefer to be in control of any mess! 🌋

ChampagneCommunist · 10/06/2022 20:51

Where are you based? I have a full tank of petrol, a sharp needle, a scalpel and a camera

LemonSwan · 10/06/2022 20:35

Aloe from an actual plant. Take the leaf split in half and remove the spiky bits. Place over it and somehow attach it on.

Will draw it and disinfect.

Did this and had to go to a and e as woke up with dark purple liquid everywhere. Thought I was dying 😂 When the nurse looked she went omg! And then on cleaning she was thoroughly impressed and asked what i had done. Apparently a better job than they would have been able to do medically.

So don’t be alarmed by the purple - it’s the colour aloe turns when it touches bacteria and activates it’s antibacterial jazz. But if you want to impress a nurse it’s a quick way to get through a and e to say your nether regions are purple!

I read that as 'antibacterial jizz' 🤣

EcafTnuc · 10/06/2022 21:00

Oh oh oh. I've got one of these at the minute. Post-Poppage.

I put a mega hot compress on when it looked sort of like yours, and then when i manipulated my skin to look at it, it was already oozing. No needles needed. Absolutely vile but fascinating.

That looks to me like a pilonidal sinus. PLEASE don't try to stab it with a needle or any of the other suggestions on here. You need medical advice and it may well need to be surgically drained, with proper post-surgical care.
I've had one of these (at the base of the spine/top of the bum crack!) and they are SOOOOOO painful.
You need to see a medic. ASAP.

Had the exact same thing and messing around with it instead of going and getting it seen to straight away meant the infection was worse, i ended up in surgery with them having to cut out the infection and stitch me up.

I'm not gonna lie though it was bloody impressive when the bugger would blow and blood/pus would projectile across the bathroom...

Somanymistakes · 10/06/2022 21:01

@JasmineFlowering

I'm sure there are men who would claim theirs had that property. Especially if you were complaining of a sore throat. Hmm

ImAvingOops · 10/06/2022 21:01

I honestly don't know how people can stop themselves from popping it. If that was on me I'd risk the sepsis to get at that with a lovely big needle Grin

I don't understand the first picture has the image been projected onto a wall

Fell about laughing

I assume that you do not live in England or have no experience of the NHS!
No way would this meet the triage requirements for a GP phone appointment!
Practice nurse first appointments are currently July.

Nah, those usually occur at the top of the arse crack.
