I'd be really really careful. An ingrown hair led to infection, sepsis, emergency surgery and being really unwell for me.

Much as I'd love to see this pop, I'll never take the risk and mess about with one again.

I had something similar last year just on top of my bikini line and started to feel rubbish , after 2 days of antibiotics it was only getting bigger and I was starting to feel worse and worse.
Ended up under GA in surgery having it removed and had to have the wound re-packed for 6 weeks after. Grim.

I had a biggish blob on one of my flaps a couple of years ago and wanted to stab it but it was just too painful.

So i put a blob of bonjella on it.

Yes it stung like crazy but then did go numb and yes i stabbed it and YES! Pale green/yellow pus arrived and it healed within a day or two.

I would not recommend this course of action obvs. Unless, y'know, you were desperate .........

This is such a coincidence, i have the same thing, ive never had one before. I put a hot flannel on it while led in bed as i didnt have time for 3 baths a day like the guidance suggests, it softened it and some puss leaked out. Its not half as painful now & seems smaller already. No pricks neccessary

I had an ingrown on my bikini line. It wasn’t as “heady” but I decided to squeeze it when aboard the toilette one day. It hit the ceiling with force. I dug around a bit and nothing else.

except it came back and I ended up having surgery to remove what effectively grew to a third vulva 🤣

I wouldnt have been able to view it, too fat unfortunately. I get them before my period now but years ago before perimenopause I used to get massive ones in my armpits. So painful, awful

Please don't waste A&E's time. I'm a very boil-y person. I get these all the time, round the groin area (OK.... flame me!)
They come up, they reach a head, they go down burst. Hot bath, hot flannel and it will sort itself out.
OF COURSE if you feel ill, take different action but seriously I've had this sort of thing all my life and the body can cope without A&E

I’ve had a dozen pilonidal sinus’ over the years - and yes, you can stab them.

having had gruesome and painful surgery the first few times, I tired of the palava and would bring them to a head/let them do their thing/salt baths.

the last one I had was on holiday in 2004. It was magnificent, however, I was on an activity holiday and didn’t have time to waste.

so I did what any sensible sporner would do. Ordered steak and lots of gin from room service. Ate and drank the lot then stabbed it with the hotel steak knife.

*you can’t squeeze a pilonidal unless your head swivels 180 degrees and your arms are 3’ long. You can however stab it with a knife in a mirror.

it hasn’t returned in all those years and I enjoyed the rest of my holiday pain-free.

the more sensitive of you might think twice about using a hotel steak-knife…

You just need to break the skin... nick it with a nail scissors, prick it with a pin... let it drain, th relief will be immense.

I never understand why popping something like this with.a sterile needle is a no-no, whilst encouraging it to pop by itself with stuff like mag sulph and hot water is OK. In terms of danger of infection etc, surely if anything it's better if it happens in a controlled way when you can ensure it's cleaned up and slathered in antiseptics?

The top skin is very thin can tell by the fact it's so clear.

Needle just in that layer won't add to your pain as only needs to nick the dead skin on top and they the infection has an easy escape route.

Should also ease the pain quite significantly. Just make sure everything involved is very clean and some antiseptic wash to hand.
