What on Earth is this and what do I do with it?!

This is in a VERY delicate area and is absolute agony.

If it's a bartholins cyst you need a GP appt asap. May need antibiotics. Do not stab it. Lots of hot baths and compresses are a good idea.

Ponderingwindow · 10/06/2022 20:17

Take a hot bath or use a hot compress.

bath salts need to be unscented, medicinal style ones, so probably not ones you got for Christmas.

that is going to get infected if treated poorly. A series of hot baths/compresses will probably make it pop on its own. If it doesn’t, call your GP on Monday. It will likely need to be lanced using proper equipment.

I'm going to follow this up by saying I have no medical knowledge at all- just my own experience. MN definitely no substance for a medical professional. Hope you feel better soon.

Most of us have no 'official' qualifications. But hours of watching YouTube rubbish on spots and cysts makes us PseudoExpertDoctors..... 🤣

BenCooperisaGod · 10/06/2022 20:14

I wouldn't advise stabbing. Hot bath gentle squeeze, and if you happen to have a head mounted go pro, a nice recording.

Loving the go-pro!

lunar1 · 10/06/2022 20:18

I used to get these, I always popped them, but there is lots more sensible advice here!

mcdog · 10/06/2022 20:18

How intimate is intimate???? Cos my advice totally depends on the answer to that question.

However, wherever it is, if it was me I would be at it constantly!!!

JudyGemstone · 10/06/2022 20:20

It’s not a bartholin cyst if it’s not inside the vagina i don’t think

I’ve had one, I have a sterilised needle that worked a treat 🤗

Welshrarebit75 · 10/06/2022 20:22

Hot compress.

If you start to feel “flu like” get to a GP. I used to get something similar on my eyelids and they would often get infected. Felt like death when they did.

EmilyBolton · 10/06/2022 20:26

Fgs..do not try to stab this yourself. You have a picture so call for GP practice phone appointment…the practice nurse can deal with it or go into pharmacy and ask for private consult with pharmacist and show them the picture …do not listen to old wives tales on here.

Colouringaddict · 10/06/2022 20:28

I also have HS and as long as it isn’t too close to any intimate area, I would go for a hot bath, then apply vicks and put a plaster over it. Hope it bursts very soon

I was just wandering past and stopped to see what everyone was looking at....

It's Friday, that'll have burst by Monday
TBH they don't do much with them either, just tell me to leave it unless I feel unwell
I've had hundreds of abscesses and only had antibiotics for one which then needed surgery

viques · 10/06/2022 20:30

I am of the opinion that it is not an ingrowing hair, I am hoping for a tiny alien, or possibly a little tree frog. I think I have been over influenced by CGI and good wildlife photography.

RaleighDurham · 10/06/2022 20:31

That looks to me like a pilonidal sinus. PLEASE don't try to stab it with a needle or any of the other suggestions on here. You need medical advice and it may well need to be surgically drained, with proper post-surgical care.
I've had one of these (at the base of the spine/top of the bum crack!) and they are SOOOOOO painful.
You need to see a medic. ASAP.

Oi. Who are you calling an old wife! Hitches bosoms and chomps false teeth menacingly.

KitKat1985 · 10/06/2022 20:31

Oh gosh I wouldn't be able to stop myself stabbing that...

TaighNamGastaOrt · 10/06/2022 20:32

Wow. I have sporner envy!
I had an ingrowing pube a few months ago, sadly not as magnificent as this.
Nice hot shower then gently squeezed it in shower. It was glorious, gunk everywhere!
Gutted I never got pics.
It refilled twice more much to my grubby delight. Second squeeze spurted on my clean bed sheets in a heavenly arc of goo.
3rd squeeze and it was done.
I miss my pube boil.
Can I see yours?

SuziSecondLaw · 10/06/2022 20:32

Magnesium sulphate paste!!

That stuff is magic. I had a boil on my bum that kept starting to go away then getting huge again, for weeks and weeks. I put some of that paste on it and covered the it with a plaster.. the following evening it burst, was delightful!!

My god. We are ghouls on this board.

Like salivating demons just waiting for more information.

I've no idea who you are referring to....😂

Spanielsarepainless · 10/06/2022 20:33

I had a massive boil caused by an infected hair follicle in a very tender place. Had a week's antibiotics!

Amcol8 · 10/06/2022 20:33

Hello, I can only empathise as these are extremely painful. Don’t burst it yourself, you need to go to the doctors or A&E To have it professionally lanced. I’ve been to A&E with this problem before. It can cause serious infection. In the meantime use a hot compress. Hope it disappears soon!

LemonSwan · 10/06/2022 20:35

Aloe from an actual plant. Take the leaf split in half and remove the spiky bits. Place over it and somehow attach it on.

Will draw it and disinfect.

Did this and had to go to a and e as woke up with dark purple liquid everywhere. Thought I was dying 😂 When the nurse looked she went omg! And then on cleaning she was thoroughly impressed and asked what i had done. Apparently a better job than they would have been able to do medically.

So don’t be alarmed by the purple - it’s the colour aloe turns when it touches bacteria and activates it’s antibacterial jazz. But if you want to impress a nurse it’s a quick way to get through a and e to say your nether regions are purple!

AmJustDone · 10/06/2022 20:35

I second Sudocreme. It's magical stuff. Whack a load on a cotton wool pad and stick it on the offending area. Would also recommend oregano oil capsules if you get these regularly - they have an antibiotic effect for some reason (I can't take abx and they have been a life saver)

LizzyA123 · 10/06/2022 20:37

Could it be, some sort of foreign body causing an abscess or an insect larva in there?

JellyBellyNelly · 10/06/2022 20:37

I think it’s a digestive biscuit you must have lost in bed one day during lockdown when you were passing the time by having a cup of tea and biscuit in bed.
