What on Earth is this and what do I do with it?!

This is in a VERY delicate area and is absolute agony.

OP posts:
NoGoodUsernamee · 11/06/2022 19:51

Oh bloody ow. I had one just like it OP a few months ago, no exaggeration it was the worst pain I’ve ever been in (& I’ve had 3 BIG babies.) Horrendous!! I couldn’t stab/pop it, even brushing it with clothing made me wince in pain!! I ended up at the doctors for antibiotics after a week of it not popping.

I never really did get that satisfactory big burst either, it oozes a bit but then the anti biotics kicked in and it sort of absorbed itself 🤮 Totally not worth the pain.

Trudij123 · 11/06/2022 20:06

And that’s why you don’t go to the doctors until youve popped it - why go through all this only for antibiotics to make it go away?!

im another pop it here @MrsDrake - how are you doing? ( and another volunteer if you need a hand!)

Justbefair · 11/06/2022 20:09

Arrange to see a nurse who will advise you. Sure you've googled but popping it may not be answer, like a spot, can become infected and regrow. I know it's heat we want to do and will probably be fine but if in a delicate area be on safe side! X

I once had one down where they cut you if you have a baby- perineum. It was horrendous. Couldn't see it at first from outside but the pain. After 5 days and 5 GP appts I could not walk, sit or lie. Huge , hard, swelling that spread down into the top inside of my leg.
When I started vomitting and feeling hit and faint, was told by GP to call an ambulance but somehow drove to A and E. Was admitted immediately for operation under general anaesthetic. It was about 11pm and they gave me something for the pain. While I waited the 30 mins or so to go down to theatre I was visited by a stream of nurses and Drs who asked if they could have a look as it was so large. One nurse said 'I wish I was in theatre to see what comes out if that!'
I woke up in recovery about 12.30am. Pain had gone. Was wide awake and so relieved. Taken back to ward, slept for first time in 5 nights. Next morning was told to have a bath and warned the packing would come out.The packing- shredded bandages- was the size of a small orange. I was terrified how big the wound was but the nurse explained it had been pressure packed to keep it open. It was packed with seaweed stuff for 2 months and didn't heal properly and I had to have another op and have it opened again. It did heal the second time after 4 weeks of daily packing.
Never had any trouble with it again. Was scared it would tear when I had DC but I had no problems.

God I would def pop that! It would be SO satisfying!

xippo · 11/06/2022 20:54

I’ve had similar, ingrown hair. I punctured with tweezers and pulled it out. Left quite a hole though.

Where is sporners corner hidden in topics? I can't find it.

giftswap2021 · 11/06/2022 21:02

I think it's under "in the club" in topics

BigBadBoom · 11/06/2022 21:19

@summer22now I had these diagnosed as hidradenitis supparativa. It's an awful thing, I was riddled with them in my twenties but they've mostly eased off now (forties). There's not much the docs can do, it's one of those tricky auto immune things. But I would recommend not shaving or waxing, and honestly Sudocreme has been the biggest lifesaver. Slathering that on eases the pain and draws them out, speeds up healing too. I just use soap for washing too, nothing too scented or creamy.

summer22now · 11/06/2022 21:50

Thanks @BigBadBoom glad yours have eased off now, it's strange that they have no real clues why they happen.

StanVic49 · 11/06/2022 21:57

Literally just place marking here so I don’t lose this thread!
How on earth did I not know that this corner was a thing??!!

Ponderingwindow · 11/06/2022 22:00

If you don’t feel well, do not pop it.

Hot bath or hot compress.

Urgent care if you have one available, GP on Monday if you don’t. If you develop a fever, it gets red streaky lines, or it starts growing rapidly and you still haven’t been able to get into after hours care of some sort, go to a&e.

You mess with that, it could go in over. Whilst in hospital the girl next to me had a boil on her bum. The boil had funneled into her rectum, so each time she went to the loo it got more infected, basically she had two butt holes. Leave it be, get help

Colouringaddict · 11/06/2022 22:38

The site of your boils sounds like Hidradenitis Supprativa. Don’t suffer in silence, ask to be referred to a Dermatologist

MrsMarni · 11/06/2022 22:39

Put germolane cream on it. It is antiseptic and anaesthetic. It will be out by the morning

Colouringaddict · 11/06/2022 22:51

MsOllie · 11/06/2022 19:37

They won't drain and pack that! I had this which was infected down to my boob and they were reluctant to drain it, and they generally have to do a GA because they can't numb infection
They might give antibiotics but again, probably not unless you're unwell with it

Have you been referred to a Dermatologist? It looks like a typical HS flare

StaunchMomma · 11/06/2022 23:03

Bath, sterile needle, bit of a squeeze.

No way would I be able to resist!

MarvellousMonsters · 11/06/2022 23:16

Please Lance it, and film it, and post it here.

or go to the GP, it actually might need antibiotics

MsOllie · 11/06/2022 23:29

@Colouringaddict nope, I've had HS since I was 12. The ones in my groin are like OP, I deal with them myself. Armpit has had surgery to drain and plastic surgery x 2, other armpit isn't affected

Blueskybird · 11/06/2022 23:31

Jackanackanory · 10/06/2022 19:51

Who do you think you are? Sorry, that’s me channeling my inner Spice Girl 😀

🤣🤣🤣

jaundicedoutlook · 11/06/2022 23:40

Jesus. That’s like the Eye of Sauron…

I’d say nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

MyneighbourisTotoro · 11/06/2022 23:49

I had an ingrown hair that became a cyst, first time it came up it shrank down after two weeks so I left it but my word it came back with vengeance! It was in the same area as you and so painful and hot.
The morning I was going to book an appointment for antibiotics it burst! I was amazed at how much pus came out but the relief was bloody amazing! Luckily after that it completely healed up with no issues since.
I hope you can get yourself to the doctors and get it sorted, looks nasty!

MyneighbourisTotoro · 11/06/2022 23:53

@MsOllie what is HS? I have a family member with a cyst on her armpit that looks similar to yours but her doctor is a bit baffled by it and nothing is helping with it, it just constantly weeps and then gets worse again.

SlatternIsMyMiddleName · 12/06/2022 00:11

@jaundicedoutlook LOVE the Aliens reference.
