What on Earth is this and what do I do with it?!

This is in a VERY delicate area and is absolute agony.

@maisieandvicks

How very dramatic. Hmm

Not as dramatic as you pointing out my error in a post that is me doing exactly that - pointing out my error 🤨

JuneyJune · 11/06/2022 12:14

Your post said you assumed it had been moved here.

It hadn't.

Which is what I said.

I googled what to do with a boil and this is the board that kept coming up. None of them seemed to look like mine though so I thought I’d better get some expert opinions. Also after reading the board I’ve realised I may actually be a sporner, but still a huge coward when it comes to myself!

Honestly, you won't feel it being nicked with a needle or nail scissors. The pain is from the pressure. Releasing it by nicking then skin is far less painful than any squeezing or even just leaving it be.

picklemewalnuts · 11/06/2022 12:19

You'll deflate with relief once you do it,

Yup. Followed with the unnecessarily sarky comment that it is my error for not checking first.

Which I already alluded to and confirmed when stating that it was my error.

Anything else or should I just crack on with climbing up on top of this crucifix for making a mistake?

No? Excellent. Enjoy your day.

@maisieandvicks nobody cares. If you don't want to see huge boils, don't open threads titled 'huge boil'.

How is it this afternoon OP?

ElenaSt · 11/06/2022 14:06

Heat a narrow necked glass bottle under a hot water tap and place over the boil making sure you keep the glass opening in contact with the surrounding skin the whole time.

As the glass cools down a vacuum will be created and the boil will be drawn to the surface and either burst into the bottle or slowly drain or both.

Hold the bottle doe as long as possible or until it completely cools down.

Repeat if necessary and treat the now open wound with tcp or similar which may cause a momentary sting.

Nobody cares about what?

Who are you? The newly appointed Mumsnet Police after pp resigned?

Do you pay my phone bill? I didn’t think so.

So on that note, I’ll open whatever thread I like and if I don’t like the contents, that’s on me and my poor oh-so-sensitive eyes, not you.

What are you going to do? Come and comfort me from being traumatised by a picture of a boil, of which I have had many and much worse than OP’s?

That’s what I thought. 🙄

So yes, OP, how are you feeling now? Hope you have managed to get the boil down somehow with a warm compress or hot bath. Definitely still contact your GP for the antibiotics though. Good luck 💐

StickyFingeredWeeNed · 11/06/2022 14:33

@ElenaSt That sounds marvellous! 😍 WIBU to acquire my next beer bottles according to transparency? I don’t want to have to strain to see glory through the brown glass of a Budweiser bottle. It can wait in my medicine cupboard until its day comes.

ImAvingOops · 11/06/2022 14:54

@ElenaSt that's hardcore 😁. OP isn't even ready to nick this one with some sterilised scissors. Maybe for the next one?

Margotshypotheticaldog · 11/06/2022 15:19

Unfortunately it’s still there unchanged and staring up at me this morning. I think I’m too scared to touch it YOUR TWIN!! IT'S YOUR TWIN IN THERE!!

Margotshypotheticaldog · 11/06/2022 15:20

@ElenaSt
Oh. My. Fucking. God.

tkwal · 11/06/2022 15:27

I'm picturing a long line of MNers armed with sterile needles , flannels and various potions offering (dis)comfort to the OP. Sadly , much as I'd love to "help" I fear I'd be too late 😁

MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 11/06/2022 16:41

OP if you don't burst it and report back ASAP we will hunt you down and pin you down 🤣

That would be a sight to see indeed!

trixie1970 · 11/06/2022 17:34

From past experience, I'd leave it well alone and see your GP ASAP. The first one I had of these saw me promptly admitted to hospital where they drained it and "packed" it so it healed from the inside. Then a nurse visited me at home every day for a week to change the dressing. (This is many years ago.) Sadly once you've had one, you're more prone to getting others.

Good luck OP xx

Fudgemonkeys · 11/06/2022 17:34

Doctors needs lancing, my mum had the same. Good luck

Cervinia · 11/06/2022 17:38

Yes to the hot compress as hot as you can stand, it worked for me as a child 50 years ago and it still works now. It might take a day or so of the compresses.

If you can’t bear to soak in HOT bath & lance it yourself please go see a nurse or doctor. You need to release the pressure to lessen the pain then you need to clean it all out. I get similar things quite often & I’ve never taken one to the docs yet. Sterilise tools, have cotton balls, earbuds, boiling water & a bin to hand then off I go 😛

Cuppie22 · 11/06/2022 18:16

Pop that shit and post the video on onlyfans!

You'd make a killing!! 😍

pomers · 11/06/2022 18:17

Perineal cyst. Get medical attention. You may well need antibiotics

Hollipolly · 11/06/2022 18:21

Hot bath and gentle squeeze you probably will feel relieved.

I've had these yours does look veiny. Call your GP.

Laurie000 · 11/06/2022 18:31

If it’s in an intimate area, it’s probably from an ingrown hair. I’ve had it before. Hurts like mother f**ker. Get some tumeric, make a paste and apply to the boil. Put some gauze over it and wait. It should draw it to the surface.

BigSkies2022 · 11/06/2022 18:40

I have literally just drooled while reading that, open-mouthed.

BigSkies2022 · 11/06/2022 18:41

I mean the post about drawing it out with a bottle neck.
