Once, when I was about 20 my toenail started to hurt, I looked at it and it didn't seem different, but I noticed that the toenail was a teensy bit in the skin. I got the nail scissors out and cut the nail. It was like peeling open a can of ready-roll pastries-there was a small pause and then a pop as a small river of brown pus rolled out over my toe. I spent a happy half hour or so cleaning under the nail, and then over the course of about 6 months it grew out. I was almost sad when I said goodbye to the last thickened nasty toenail.
It has never happened again despite my best efforts to the contrary

@glasshole, do you have an auto-immune condition by any chance?

ShirleyPhallus · 15/03/2023 22:05

Oh god this thread is so good

ShirleyPhallus · 15/03/2023 22:05

Should be nominated for classics surely?

countvoncount · 15/03/2023 22:21

What a thread!
Was bitten in Italy a couple of years ago, blisters were HUGE
Had to have them excised, leaving craters behind, still have the scars now

TheDogthatDug · 15/03/2023 23:02

A huge turd. Had been a bit bunged up but didn't realise how bunged up. The thing I passed was like a small fencepost, it stood up proud in the pan, one end disappeared round the U bend and the other end was just below were the water comes out to flush. It looked like a load of furry sausages stuck together. My arse was sore and bled for ages afterwards.

Several of them, including sjogrens. I'm also my own patient zero for MRSA. I get constant infections in my sinus and have needed surgery to try and stop it but looks like a need another revision. I am on cimzia for the AI issues but that mages me more likely to get sick.... it's a merry go round! I do get dry sinuses over night and that often causes this issue. I have to irrigate and clean 2-3 times a day and my house is littered with nasal sprays and loo rolls.

glasshole · 16/03/2023 10:14

@VikingLady

This is a bogey hook. It's actually a pipe cleaner for those reusable metal straws. I realised after my surgery that the DR could fit all manner of devices into my face holes so when it got really bad and I had a blockage I thought that bogey fishing could be the way forward. And I was right! It goes in about 2 1/2 inches and I have a good rummage about and pull out the bigger bits that are too large to pass through. My sinuses seem to be cavernous tbh but the exit to my nostrils , and my nostrils themselves, are ridiculously tiny. So this is a great solution. It feels incredibly weird and horrible and delightful all at once. A bit like when you rub a dogs ears together and their leg goes crazy and their eyes roll backwards.

Thank you - grossly interesting!

ChickenMaths · 18/03/2023 20:06

@Comedyusername no idea about the bogey hook but I've just started using NeilMed sinus rinse with the squirty bottle on the advice of my doctor and it is both absolutely disgusting and amazing in equal measures. I'm hooked. It's a daily dose of grim stuff your body is producing.

I have awful sinusitis and secretly hoping it might procure a legendary crusty scab, particularly if it makes me feel better!

glasshole · 19/03/2023 16:22

@ChickenMaths

I rinse my sinuses 2-3 times a day and the stuff that comes out! Mine is every shade of green but I especially like the neon green 😂🤷🏼‍♀️

Puffalicious · 19/03/2023 17:00

Can I ask how ypu rinse sinuses? Sounds like something I and DS18 should really do!

Swannning · 19/03/2023 19:44

An armpit cyst / boil that looked like a third boob - took me days to actually get an appointment for anti-biotics and then it started weeping and then huge lumps of the most revoltingly smelly stuff came out. Sadly I was on my own at the time so couldn't film it, much to DPs disappointment as he is an avid sporner.

RomComPhooey · 19/03/2023 21:26

@Swannning That looks so ripe (as well as furoius/painful). Did it blow soon after?

Swannning · 19/03/2023 22:00

RomCom it took another two days before it went. It was so bloody painful, the relief when it burst was unreal.

axillarytailofspence · 20/03/2023 02:51

@Swannning - I had one like that a few years ago; I'd had surgery on my right nipple (long story). I was in Sainsbury's and it suddenly popped. It looked liked I had been shot in the chest! The first aiders there were amazing.

HermioneIsMyHomegirl · 24/03/2023 10:56

Productive chest infection birthed this beauty while in a meeting yesterday (online, thankfully!). Second day in a row, had no idea such wonders could lurk within my lungs!

Not mine... but these are my friends glorious pics. I begged her to send them to me when she told me about her boil explosion!

You're welcome 😊

My MIL got my FIL to take a picture of the rupturing cyst on her back because she knows I’m a sporner. She’s a keeper. 😂

Love this thread.
.a few months ago I woke up during the night and my nose felt funny and went, automatically stuck my finger up my nostril and could feel something half way up my nose, managed to fish hook it, thinking it was a bogey, but then when I went to pull it out it gave a bit of resistance. Slowly began easing it out and it honestly felt like i could feel it sliding down from my brain. I had it half way out my nostril and then pinched it with a finger and thumb to get the rest out. Turned the light on and it was a long jelly like texture bright red worm type thing an inch or two in length ?! I have never been so disgusted but also impressed. Even woke DH up so he could marvel at it. Also have pictures I will look out

I've had one of these too! No idea what it was, mine was definitely still firmly attached inside my nose somewhere, had to sever it with a fingernail to get what I had hold of out at least.

I bet losing that fingernail was worth it hahaah
