Did you get any treatment for it?!

HCantThinkOfAUsername · 11/08/2017 09:39

Nope nothing. I've already got steriod tablets/cream/mouthwash that I've been using the last month so just continue using that apparently.

OP posts:
usersos · 11/08/2017 09:41

But is that the stuff you've been using for months now that's not made any difference?

usersos · 11/08/2017 09:42

Sorry just reread ....you said you'd used that for the last month......
Did he/she answers all your questions you asked?

HCantThinkOfAUsername · 11/08/2017 09:47

Yes that's correct. He only spoke to me for a few mins and dismissed my worries as soon as I walked in the room saying he doesn't understand why my gp referred me etc.
I tried to explain I've had cancerous cervical cells removed caused by hpv & I was only 19 then but he just spoke over me really.

I would ring and ask for a more thorough check, or a second opinion. It should be easier now that you have a consultant assigned to you.

There are so many reasons for a mouth ulcer like that, and the vast majority of them are benign. I would still register to see a dentist ASAP, so that they can monitor the ulcer and rule out a sharp tooth.

Try ringing local practices, even if they're not registering, explain the situation and see if they can squeeze you in. Or get a private check up. From what I understand Welsh NHS dentistry is stretched I'm afraid.

clickhappy · 11/08/2017 09:51

Mrs Morton, by the way I'm happy to write a letter like that if it means she gets seen. I think it's called sticking your neck out.

usersos · 11/08/2017 10:18

I think you've got to take the bull by the horns and phone your gp/dentist/consultant to see them/any of them again and be direct and don't let them speak over you or dismiss you! Good luck op x

I've got a dentist appt - in October half term. Going to have a think what to do next now, what would be the best do you all think?

I would urge you to phone the consultant's secretary and ask for a second opinion, or to be seen again. I'm glad you've got an appointment with a dentist.

usersos · 11/08/2017 13:02

Start with consultants secretary. If your not good at this kind of thing then write down what you want to say.be confident. Don't take any shit. You are the patient here and you must explain that you aren't satisfied

HCantThinkOfAUsername · 12/08/2017 18:15

2 days after the appt and my ulcer has gone all horrible looking etc - typical!

I just came on to check how your appointment went and I can't believe it was such a waste of time. A second opinion is definitely needed, is there anyway you could email a photo to the consultant via his secretary if it has now turned nasty looking? x

HCantThinkOfAUsername · 14/08/2017 01:28

That's a good idea Wilber I shall try that but I doubt he would even look. I looked at a private clinic for a consultation and he is the one there too :( I've my booking in appt with dentist in Oct which isn't too long away x

How's it going?

HCantThinkOfAUsername · 23/08/2017 22:05

I'm ok, I've been in hospital as I had a T.I.A so still no biopsy date - will ring tomorrow. Thank you for thinking of me

Oh no sorry to hear that, I hope you are ok. x

heyjude12 · 24/08/2017 00:29

If you're still in hospital maybe you could ask a nurse if an ent Dr could have a look at you?

heyjude12 · 24/08/2017 00:31

Sorry pressed send too soon. Hope you are feeling better now Flowers

FabulouslyGlamorousFerret · 24/08/2017 22:02

Why do you not believe that it is Lichen Planus? I have oral Lichen planus although it presents differently (I have white patches) if you google image it manifests in many different ways.

Do you have any problems with your Vulva, I also have vulval Lichen Schlerosus - apparently they can be linked

HCantThinkOfAUsername · 24/08/2017 22:10

Shall look now

OP posts:
HCantThinkOfAUsername · 25/08/2017 09:10

Forgot to add - re lichen planus I've used oral and topical steriod's & mouthwash with no improvement which would normally help lichen planus.
