This is the feedback thread for the 100 Mumsnetters who hosted a baby massage class in their home, courtesy of WaterWipes. For those who did not attend, there’s still a chance for you to win – please see details below.

Here’s what WaterWipes has to say: “We know that the first few months can be an unnerving time for new parents. Baby massage is a great way to strengthen the natural bonds between parent and baby and we hope these free classes with a qualified teacher will give parents a fun and informative experience as well as equipping them with some new skills and the confidence to trust that they are all their baby needs”

Attendees, please answer the following questions on your experience at the event, and if you were a host, answer the survey we’ve sent as well:

  1. What did you and your friends think of the WaterWipes baby massage class?
  2. Did you feel the class provided a bonding experience for you and your baby?
  3. Do you feel you took away some new skills or knowledge?

All attendees who give their feedback on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 Boots voucher and 3 month’s supply of WaterWipes!

Non-attendees, for your chance to win a £150 Boots voucher and 3 month’s supply of WaterWipes, please answer the question below:
What are the moments you most enjoy with your baby?

Thanks and good luck!

1.What did you and your friends think of the WaterWipes baby massage class?

We absolutely loved it. It helped that our instructor was amazing and made everyone feel very much at ease. We had a great time!

2.Did you feel the class provided a bonding experience for you and your baby?

I think it was more like that for the other mamas since my daughter was not in the slightest bit interested. Luckily the instructor brought a doll for me to practice on!

3.Do you feel you took away some new skills or knowledge?

Definitely. I'd watched videos on massage but didn't really know if it would be something for us. Turns out is actually wasn't because Kiki hates laying down and wants to explore. But I did learn great techniques and really enjoyed it.

We had a really lovely day. Thank you so much

I held a waterwipes baby massage class. It was great for me and my friends to get together and spend quality time with our babies. The teacher was amazing and explained what we were doing and why and showed us the massage strokes step by step. It allowed us to bond with our babies through touch and eye contact and the songs allowed our babies to hear our voice. I learnt some new skills that I can actually use. A really lovely session.

NeverTwerkNaked · 19/10/2017 19:39

Non-attendee favourite moments - lying there next to them while they snooze away; going swimming with him, he’s a total water baby; bath time!

Donnal84 · 20/10/2017 20:22

My friends and I loved the massage class, the time to concentrate on our babies for the time and to learn and practice techniques was great. The teacher was warm, friendly and put us all at ease so we enjoyed the class and the time together.
I really feel that the class encouraged bonding between mums and babies and the eye contact and reaction of our babies supported this. Carving out this time in a busy week was so important.

I definitely learnt some new skills- like using touch in different ways to ease common problems like colic, teething and colds through massage. I also learnt more about different reflexes and ages they are present until in Babies.

Attendee Host

1.What did you and your friends think of the WaterWipes baby massage class?
I hosted a baby massage class for me and 5 of my NCT class mums. Ruth, the teacher was so friendly, helpful and informative. The goody bags were a lovely surprise for my friends and we had a lovely afternoon with the bubbas.

We learnt some more about Waterwipes and a few of my friends have signed up for baby massage classes with the teacher. It was a great opportunity for the bubbas to spend some time together and for us mums to catchup.

2.Did you feel the class provided a bonding experience for you and your baby?
Absolutely! She trusts me more and really loves her massage time. Ruth's encouragement with some new techniques were great!

3.Do you feel you took away some new skills or knowledge?
Yes. Loads more nursery rhymes, some new techniques and feel much more informed and confident.

Thanks Waterwipes for giving me the opportunity to host.

  1. We really enjoyed the class! Our host was so knowledgeable, friendly and relaxed. She explained the reason behind all the techniques and packed lots of info into 60mins without it ever feeling rushed
  2. I definitely felt it was a good bonding experience -it was so nice just to dedicate quality time with the baby. We enjoy doing massage most nights and I think its definitely something both my son and I really enjoy. He is so relaxed when we do it
  3. I felt I learned so much, we had been doing baby massage classes but those had been completely different so I have enjoyed combining things I picked up from each teacher to what suits us best
TILITULA · 23/10/2017 17:05

We had a fantastic baby massage session with Amber Betts: not only she was incredibly clear and thorough, but she also gave us some outlines at the end of the session so for us to practice what we learnt by ourselves. 5 stars !

vbs · 24/10/2017 17:43

I won the water wipes massage class and invited all my NCT group so there were 8 mums and 8 babies. Carly was an excellent instructor and showed us some wonderful techniques and taught us w few new songs along the way.

The format of the class worked really well for us, all the mats and towels and oil was provided and it was such a relaxed and informal class.

We have all taken on board what we learned and after chatting to the ladies everyone has been doing some form of massage with their little ones since the class.

The goodie bags were great too, every sized pack of water wipes I could ever possibly want!

Thank you for running such a great class!

Hi, I was lucky enough to win and host a baby massage class at my house on Wednesday 18th.

1.What did you and your friends think of the WaterWipes baby massage class?

We all loved it, it was very informative. We were taught how to massage legs and tummy and Ruth was kind enough to share her leaflets afterwards too. I loved how Ruth had a nursery rhyme for every massage, just need to make sure I relearn them all now!

2.Did you feel the class provided a bonding experience for you and your baby?

Definitely. I had previously been doing my own version of a massage but this class has given me invaluable tools and methods so that I can start a routine and teach my partner too. My baby loves his massages and it always relaxes him immediately

3.Do you feel you took away some new skills or knowledge?

It was especially useful to know how long to massage the babies as well as the methods Ruth taught us. Tummy massage was escecially useful for me as my son often becomes constipated and this is a nice way for me to help him as i can often feel very powerless when he is obviously suffering. I now feel empowered to help my child to the best of my ability which is very reassuring and helps my confidence in bounds

dannydog1 · 25/10/2017 21:39

Has to be cuddle time looking at books together.

asuwere · 27/10/2017 18:57

Non-attendee lots of enjoyable moments but I remember fondly when they fell asleep just after feeding, completely milk-drunk! So cute and satisfying.
Also when they're with someone else then see me and their face lights up! :)

PorridgeAgainAbney · 27/10/2017 19:30

Non attendee. Watching him try to do something for himself was so fascinating; eg, the moments he first managed to clap or stick two building blocks together, seeing the utter joy and surprise on his face Smile.

Sazzle1984 · 28/10/2017 04:09

Non-attendee - It has to be playing peek a boo and watching him giggle!

Orangepear · 28/10/2017 14:56

Non attendee - One of my favourite times with my smallest is singing to her. She's just started to express an opinion on song choices so will say 'no' until I hit on one she wants! She signs 'again' every time so songs like Old McDonald or Wheels on the Bus are good as they can be pretty infinite!

baby410 · 28/10/2017 18:40

Non attendee -
I love afternoon cuddles after nap time, it’s pretty much the only time he stays still long enough for a cuddle these days!

UpOnDown · 28/10/2017 19:36

Non-attendee: we really enjoy bath time!

Hopezibah · 28/10/2017 20:21

non-attendee: Those 'firsts' are SO special and magical - first smiles, first gurgles, first tastes, first steps - So easy to rush past them but so important to know that those moments will pass so quickly.

I loved seeing my babies face when I blew bubbles - just the awe and wonder is magical!

vickyors · 28/10/2017 20:23

Non- attendee.
I love giggles with my baby. I love making her laugh. That, and just before putting her to bed in her cot, and I lie back on the spare bed and she cwtches up in my arms, and I breathe onto her head. It is lovely. Those moments..

honeyandginger48 · 28/10/2017 22:12

Non-attendee.

My favourite time with both my children was that feeding followed by snoozing time when you just get to snuggle with them.

Firewall · 28/10/2017 23:12

Love the baby cuddles and also when she feeds me her food and mimics opening her mouth too.

CopperPan · 29/10/2017 17:50

Non-attendee. Love the quiet moments between bath and bedtime, when they're freshly washed and in their sleepsuit.

ZuzuSa · 29/10/2017 22:47

Non attendee: I enjoy the moments when my baby makes those adorable cooing sounds and giggles. Snuggle time is also another favourite.

Sammyislost · 30/10/2017 11:14

Non Attendee here!

My favourite moments are those that pull on your heart strings a bit. Destined to be forever memories! For example, watching my 10 month old with his eyes lit up waving at Mickey Mouse at Disneyland was soooo beautiful, I will never forget it!

Belmo · 30/10/2017 12:15

Non-attendee-

Snoozy cuddles on the sofa, and early mornings when it's just us.

sharond101 · 30/10/2017 12:44

non-attendee. I love cuddles on the couch. Long cuddle with giggles and smiles. Nothing beats it.
