We have been asked by the team at lights by TENA to find out your top tips for remembering to do pelvic floor exercises.

lights by TENA say "We all know, improving your pelvic floor tone reduces your chances of experiencing little leaks through strengthening those vital muscles - we'd love to know how MNers remember to find the time to do them. What's more we have developed a new app - available here to download!"

Please note, your anon comments may be used by lights by TENA on their website, social media and possibly elsewhere. Please only add a comment if you're happy for it to be used.

Add your comment to this thread and you'll be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £150 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list)

Thanks and good luck

I dont do them Blush

Buuuut, in my defence... When i saw the gynae for my prolapse, he said i had a ridiculously toned pelvic floor, i just have dodgy connective tissue to cause it. So whatever i do, its working Grin

miljones1 · 09/12/2014 19:18

I do it when I'm standing around waiting for something - like filling up the car with petrol, filling up the kettle, in line at the shops, etc

GetKnitted · 09/12/2014 19:51

I only remember when they are specifically mentioned!

compstruck · 09/12/2014 20:19

usually only remember when there's an article on the tv in the morning, a Tena ad or something on the internet that catches my eye, like this. Great ideas for reminders here. Like the phone idea and toothbrushing reminder.

pennwood · 10/12/2014 12:43

Do them last thing at night before falling asleep & first thing in the morning before rising that way you cannot forget, & anything else managed during the day is a plus.

BadlyWrittenPoem · 10/12/2014 12:51

Try doing them after you've been to the toilet.

StarsInTheNightSky · 10/12/2014 14:19

If I'm driving I do them each time I hit red traffic lights, if I'm at home each time I have a post it note on the fridge door, one beside the kettle and one on the bathroom mirror reminding me to do them. I have to remember to take them down when we have guests, could be embarrassing otherwise!

Iristutu · 10/12/2014 14:24

Ter my first child ripped chaos at birth the physio gave me a target symbol to put by the kettle. I still have it and at lease once a day I do five mins excercise while the kettle boils.

This thread is great with some fantastic tips

I found a great app - pff which reminds me daily. I just looked it up and it is Tena's app !

I have to say a big Thanks to mumsnet for being there so I could post and people could advise me on my pelvic floor after an episiotomy and third degree tear. I was devastated I couldn't stop peeing in the gym after my snow as born. Thank you to the person who forwarded me Gussie's previous thread and thank you Gussie for caring about our pelvic floor. I'm not on twitter unfortunately but I've really appreciated your advice.

JustMuddlingBobBobBobbingAlong · 10/12/2014 21:52

I do them when I'm at the kitchen sink, washing the dishes or my hands. I spend a hell of a lot of time at the sink so even 5 squeezes at a time seems to help.

Velocirapture · 10/12/2014 22:00

i do mine whenever my reports are running. I work for a public service which doesn't have the best IT so sometimes I'm exercising all day. Also hellps to take my mind of the frustration when I'm waiting for the results but it is taking ages ....

cluckyhen · 10/12/2014 22:30

Boiling the kettle? Ideal 2 mins to get those exercises done!

Bubbles85 · 10/12/2014 22:46

When someone mentions pelvic floor exercises, as I don't think of them at all otherwise!

Igletpiglet · 11/12/2014 00:15

when i brush my teeth i take it up to the top floor

RojaGato · 11/12/2014 01:02

I keep this photo handy.

When I had a job where I had to make a lot of business calls, I kept the second one handy.

While I clean my teeth.

Pmliu · 11/12/2014 11:07

I do my pelvic exercise whenever I can, it could be when I'm at work sitting at my desk or watching tv, you just squeeze and tense in intervals, no one knows what you are doing as it's discreet and easy to do

sofieellis · 11/12/2014 13:01

Get in the habit of doing them at certain times and it just becomes automatic eg standing at the bus stop, doing the ironing etc.

Amapoleon · 11/12/2014 15:03

in the queue at the supermarket

sweetnuttydogs · 11/12/2014 17:58

Download the NHS app it reminds you and if all else fails when I am waiting in a queue its always good to not waste time :)

rachaelsit · 11/12/2014 20:04

Same time same place everyday and I still it until you don't forget!

libra101 · 12/12/2014 05:39

I do my pelvic floor exercises when reading in the evenings. It's the easiest and most relaxing exercise that I do.

allibaby · 12/12/2014 06:43

I do them during the soaps. Having this as a set time always reminds me to do them .

nerysw · 12/12/2014 07:15

Try setting an alarm on your phone to remind you.

TakesTwoToTango · 12/12/2014 14:24

At red lights and whenever I have to brake in the car (red light in any form = kegels!), waiting on train station platforms, one set of ten on every leg of my commute, when waiting for lifts or to cross the road.
