We have been asked by the team at lights by TENA to find out your top tips for remembering to do pelvic floor exercises.

lights by TENA say "We all know, improving your pelvic floor tone reduces your chances of experiencing little leaks through strengthening those vital muscles - we'd love to know how MNers remember to find the time to do them. What's more we have developed a new app - available here to download!"

Please note, your anon comments may be used by lights by TENA on their website, social media and possibly elsewhere. Please only add a comment if you're happy for it to be used.

Add your comment to this thread and you'll be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £150 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list)

Thanks and good luck

I do them while brushing my teeth.

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 03/12/2014 09:31

I am useless at remembering them, but use a tip given to my dad about something else! (My dad isn't, I don't think, doing pelvic floor exercises.) I put a sticky dot on the bathroom mirror rim, and the change table, every time I see the dot it reminds me.

beeelaine · 03/12/2014 09:40

haha dont laugh but when people sneeze i always wonder if they have had a little leak and that reminds me to do mine. I do them everywhere, in the dentist waiting room, while queing at supermarket, anywhere I have to wait somewhere - at least I am doing something while I am waiting.

JoJoBaldwin · 03/12/2014 09:40

I try to leave going for a wee till quite desperate, then practise holding it, letting a bit go, and holding it again. But I go through phases of forgetting about them and then starting again.

KittyKat88 · 03/12/2014 09:55

After 2 DDs, now age 2 & 4, I regularly forget to do them Blush and know that's naughty because I'll pay for it in years to come - the times when I remember is normally when I'm cooking. It seems easier to do when standing up as opposed to sitting! I don't know whether one way is more effective than another though...[runs off to google it] Ah, apparently it doesn't really matter SO LONG AS YOU DO THEM EVERY DAY!! Grin

CMOTDibbler · 03/12/2014 09:58

I do them during work conference calls. Its a rare piece of my day when I don't have to talk or concentrate on other things

maisiesnan · 03/12/2014 10:23

I always do them whenever I am standing at the kitchen sink,as I am the main washer upper in this house I do them quite alot

twinklenic · 03/12/2014 10:30

i used to do mine everytime i fed bubba :)

telsa · 03/12/2014 10:34

I do 9 short, 1 long every time I go to the loo.

Must check out the app!

emmav6 · 03/12/2014 11:03

everytime i wash up which can be 4 times a day in our house, reminds me every time

MillyVanilli222 · 03/12/2014 11:06

I do them on the tube - a bit weird, but I always remember as it's become routine!!

montiefletcher · 03/12/2014 11:06

when ever you answer the phone, and during the duration of the call!

Cambam2010 · 03/12/2014 11:15

I usually do them whilst waiting for the kettle to boil. I have a hectic lifestyle and I find standing waiting for the kettle an ideal time to take a few minutes just for myself - I'm better at doing them in an upright position anyway.

crappyday · 03/12/2014 11:33

I follow gussiegrips grips on twitter and when I see her posts, I do them.

farhanac · 03/12/2014 11:38

Do them every time I open the fridge

VikingLady · 03/12/2014 11:57

I had a prolapse after DD and the gynae said that however many pelvic floor exercises I had been doing, I needed to do more! So I started doing them whenever I fed DD.

At 5m pg with a toddler who barely feeds, I guess I should do more....

finleypop · 03/12/2014 12:06

I always do them after going to the loo, that way I don't forget! If I am going to the loo less, then I am doing well, if not, well I will obviously remember to do them more often!

SomethingFunny · 03/12/2014 13:06

I am not so good at remembering and tend to do them randomly whenever I remember. I will try and use some of the tips in this thread and link the exercise to something I do daily (probably when cleaning my teeth).

Something that seems to have been really good for me though is that when I was at Middle School, so about 10, we were told about and taught how to do pelvic floor exercises and it was stressed how important they are. This seems to have been very unusual- no one I have ever asked was taught it at school apart from me. I think this is the way forward- I got 20 years of excercise in before having my children :)

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 03/12/2014 13:15

That is interesting SomethingFunny, I certainly wasn't taught that, I have been thinking about it for my DD who is nearly 9, I have read that it is not unheard of for teenagers who do strenuous hobbies such as gymnastics, athletics etc to develop PF problems, it would be a really good thing if it was taught to all girls around the age of puberty, not left until pregnancy/childbirth as it tends to be.

mynellie · 03/12/2014 14:23

i always do mine a couple of times a week and do them whilst putting my knickers on it is a habit i got into after giving birth as my sis-in-law never did them and wet(flooded) her knickers and clothes whilst at flamingo land on a roller coaster when she was screaming in fear that was enough to spur me on to remember to do them

spayne89 · 03/12/2014 15:26

I started off rubbish at remembering to do them and in the end decided to set an alarm every day to remind me and now its just become part of my everyday routine.

GaryShitpeas · 03/12/2014 15:29

I do them while brushing my teeth , at work, while washing up, loads and loads as often as I remember (after 3 babies I think its necessary!)

Can you do too many!?? Blush

Tyranasaurus · 03/12/2014 15:39

I do them whilst lying very still and quiet in bed waiting for the toddler to fall asleep

hermancakedestroyer · 03/12/2014 16:16

If you do them every time you are brushing your teeth whilst you are brushing your teeth it is a good reminder.

Candycandle · 03/12/2014 17:02

I have an app that reminds me. Other than that I remember to do it everytime I sneeze lol
