We have been asked by the team at lights by TENA to find out your top tips for remembering to do pelvic floor exercises.

lights by TENA say "We all know, improving your pelvic floor tone reduces your chances of experiencing little leaks through strengthening those vital muscles - we'd love to know how MNers remember to find the time to do them. What's more we have developed a new app - available here to download!"

Please note, your anon comments may be used by lights by TENA on their website, social media and possibly elsewhere. Please only add a comment if you're happy for it to be used.

Add your comment to this thread and you'll be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £150 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list)

Thanks and good luck

I did them every night in bed before going to sleep. I never remembered to do them in the day. But I'd do loads in one go, and vary between quick and long ones.

Keepcalmanddrinkwine · 02/12/2014 20:44

I'm rubbish at remembering so will give the app a go. What a good idea. I was doing quite well a few weeks ago when Paulina from heart.fm was reminding us to do them on the breakfast show.
:)

You know those coloured stationary dots you can get that are about 8mm diameter? Put them in key places around your home where you will see them to remind you to your pv's, ie - on the kettle, tv remote, bathroom mirror, computer screen etc., I find have to change them every so often as I start ignoring them! Putting the, on random tins in your cupboard is a good one too!

I've had prolapse repair surgery so it is always something I'm aware of now. I used an app for quite a long time, also I do a pilates class weekly plus in between exercises at home. I just do them randomly throughout the day now, the habit is ingrained and I can feel my PF and core engaging whenever I bend, lift etc, it pays to persist. There have been times when I've slacked (pilates class is term time only) and it all goes weak again in a matter of weeks, so it has to be a habit for life.

The exercises I do at home are from a DVD called Hab-it, which is designed for strengthening the whole core to help the pelvic floor and is brilliant.

I try to remember to do mine whilst cleaning my teeth
However I am shamelessly going t pinch the doing them on the drive to and from work tip, , and the apps

StillNoFuckingEyeDeer · 02/12/2014 21:27

The only time I remember to do my pelvic floor exercises is when I'm in the shower in the morning.
Maybe if I was cleaner my pelvic floor would be in better condition....

Roseformeplease · 02/12/2014 21:47

Whenever I check the time.

mumsbe · 02/12/2014 21:56

Get some of those little circle stickers from the stationary section and stick them on your phone, light switch, laptop where ever you can see them and this will act as a trigger. I do mine when I get into bed and just before I get up there are a few squeeze apps you can download and the NHS do a good one that beeps when you should be doing them.

Princessxo · 02/12/2014 22:03

I do them everyday as part of a health and fitness routine, however the app won't hurt especially as I'm on my iPhone most of the time.

HangingInAGruffaloStance · 02/12/2014 22:06

I do them while driving, whenever the news comes on!

Hopezibah · 02/12/2014 22:16

I pass the time on long car journeys by doing pelvic floor excercises and bottom squeezes too.

On a daily basis I stick a post it note at the top of the stairs (just a blank one) but its enough to remind me to do a set of pelvic floor exercises everytime i pass it.

rupert23 · 02/12/2014 22:22

i usually forget but having had five kids really need to do them. I like the traffic light one will definately be doing it on the school runs from now on!

MegTheCat · 02/12/2014 22:35

I do them while waiting at the supermarket checkout, or at pedestrian crossings, or any queue really. Any time I hear / see them mentioned. And I follow Gussie Grips on Twitter.

FelixFelix · 02/12/2014 23:15

This has been really helpful! I've downloaded the NHS app to remind me. Doing them makes me feel a bit odd and sick though for some reason Confused

'Purse your lips to stop the drips'...Just saying it makes me do it automatically, kind of a Pavlovian reaction....

plastigffantastig · 03/12/2014 04:11

I have a bunch of symbols for stuff I need to do each day in my diary - from exercises to taking tablets - then I cross them out once it's done :)

janeyf1 · 03/12/2014 06:19

I do them first thing every morning as part of my getting ready for the day routine, so I never forget

seagull70 · 03/12/2014 06:36

Blimey, I am hopeless at remembering (have just done several whilst reading this thread though Grin )

Love some of these tips, particularly the traffic light and teeth cleaning ideas!

MaryWestmacott · 03/12/2014 06:51

When stood waiting for ds to come out if school, but probably need to add another in the day...

rainbowvalley · 03/12/2014 06:58

In the morning when I am having a cup of coffee well what else can you do with a mug In your hand!

cagsd · 03/12/2014 07:31

I made it a habit to do them while doing the dishes, which in this house is frequently!!

glowgirl · 03/12/2014 07:45

Get the NHS squeezy app ;)

Sarahseabury · 03/12/2014 08:17

I was really bad at remembering when my daughter was first born but you soon learn its a necessity! I did them when breastfeeding and now shes older while I'm drying my hair.

TickleMyTitsTillFriday · 03/12/2014 08:42

Do them every time you hear or read pelvic floor!
