We have been asked by the team at lights by TENA to find out your top tips for remembering to do pelvic floor exercises.

lights by TENA say "We all know, improving your pelvic floor tone reduces your chances of experiencing little leaks through strengthening those vital muscles - we'd love to know how MNers remember to find the time to do them. What's more we have developed a new app - available here to download!"

Please note, your anon comments may be used by lights by TENA on their website, social media and possibly elsewhere. Please only add a comment if you're happy for it to be used.

Add your comment to this thread and you'll be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £150 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list)

Thanks and good luck

During storytime with my toddler, hold for about 10 seconds whilst I read a page from her bedtime story!

Rathertmi · 04/12/2014 18:13

I had the depressing experience of being talked to "tactfully" by a smear nurse who asked "By the way, do you know how long after giving birth you need to do your pelvic floor exercise?" And when I said Blush "the rest of my life?" Blush she replied "exactly" with a meaningful look.

I'm still rubbish at remembering though - probably because I don't drive and can't use traffic lights. I think that MNHQ should set up a thread title that wanders up and down Active Convos saying "KEGEL!" Or "Do your blardy exercises!"

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 04/12/2014 18:25

I only stop at traffic lights about 3 times a week, so that wouldn't do for me either. But yes, a reminder everytime you log on to MN would be useful! I'd be doing them several times a day no problem then!

AlexanderinaTheGreater · 04/12/2014 20:41

Tend to do them in the car. Should really come up with a better system for remembering to do them regularly though.

HannahLI · 04/12/2014 20:43

I find the car a good place to do them and also I try and remember in the evening when watching the Tv too as its a good time.

pamhill64 · 04/12/2014 21:53

Every time you pop the kettle on, stand and "suck" up down below, (you'll feel the pelvic floor pull up), hold for the count of 10 and let go. Surprising how many you can do whilst the kettle boils and you can even walk around to fill cups, get coffee etc when you get the hang of it!

cookiemonster40 · 04/12/2014 23:15

I remember doing them whenever I was waiting for a bus. I'd squeeze, count to 1 and hold, squeeze, count to 2 and hold....until I couldn't do anymore. I still do it :)

MrsIgglePiggle · 05/12/2014 04:49

I bounce on a trampoline, and every time I wet myself it reminds me to keep bouncing!

WowOoo · 05/12/2014 06:11

When I'm bored I'll sometimes remember - standing in a queue or in a traffic jam.
If I've sneezed and felt a bit 'weak' I will do loads. Sometimes when watching TV.

emilybc · 05/12/2014 08:51

I do it at my desk at work - even set myself coded Outlook reminders!

marymanc · 05/12/2014 12:56

I do my exercises with breakfast in the morning and last thing at night before going to sleep.

juju3 · 05/12/2014 18:09

I've brought the dvd and follow that

addictedtosugar · 05/12/2014 20:32

I'm awful at remembering, but usually do sets when I see a thread on MN. So, read MN avidly to strengthen your pelvic floor!

FelixFelix · 05/12/2014 20:51

I've done three lots of exercises for three days running since I downloaded the NHS app. Thank you whoever mentioned it on here!

RedundantExpat · 05/12/2014 21:07

while driving

BreconBeBuggered · 05/12/2014 22:59

I follow Gussie Grips on Twitter, and am reminded to do them every time she tweets. She doesn't nag every single time, but she's a good trigger nonetheless.

aJumpedUpPantryBoy · 05/12/2014 23:21

I do them while I'm brushing my teeth

ArgyMargy · 05/12/2014 23:25

I only ever do them while having sex.

LilyTheSavage · 06/12/2014 07:55

My mum's a midwife and when I was a teenager she told me to do them every time I turned a tap on or off.

linda25g · 06/12/2014 12:25

I do them every time I go to the loo, stopping the flow for 10 secs :)

Miriama · 06/12/2014 16:36

I do them everytime I wash my hands! It used to be at every station on the commute to work but now I am on lovely maternity leave, I would never do them!

Daariina · 06/12/2014 16:42

Pelvic what? Only joking... I never actually used to do them until recently. It's actually pretty simple for me now, although I don't always remember to.

MrsRaegan · 06/12/2014 19:19

Whenever I walk through a door! Eventually get into the habit and do it without thinking now.

flamingtoaster · 06/12/2014 20:51

I used to do them regularly several times a day but now I do them when i remember - but I like the thought of doing them when washing up - will do a lot that way!

EmNetta · 06/12/2014 22:51

This thread is such a good idea. Nurse told me about using traffic-lights while driving, but have realised this is probably not enough so will add the tap reminder as above.
