I applied for DLA, new claim, they received my forms Monday the 18th, they sent me a text. I know I have a wait to go, but just wondering how long it took other people to get a response from them?

We also have a scan date of 18/5. Looks like some NC are around 5

Flowers90 · 24/05/2026 22:47

Back again, having only just successfully been awarded our COC in jan. My daughters claim wasn't extended so now waiting outcome if renewal. We went from LRC to MRC and low mobility which im hoping is maintained at renewal

Coffeeandbooks88 · 26/05/2026 10:40

I have been asked to send the birth certificate. Does anyone have the address that I can send? I am not using the freepost envelope. Took four weeks for my form to arrive with freepost so want to do it recorded.

Red1991 · 26/05/2026 15:00

Hi all,
haven’t been on for some time but update on my case did a COC in June 2025 declined in December did MR 18/12 and woke up to back pay which I’m assuming means they have put my son up to HRC and haven’t budged on the mobility his renewal is in October so il just try again then good luck all x

eewehxo · 26/05/2026 16:56

Coffeeandbooks88 · 26/05/2026 17:11

We got a text to say we have been awarded. Scan date 28/04. Only confusing thing is we got a letter for a birth certificate. I suppose we better send that anyway.

NC

Form requested by phone 06/03; received 17/03 with deadline of 17/04 to return for consideration of backdating to when requested form.

Taken into school to get their bit done before Easter holidays then had visit from DWP Home Visiting Team (HVT) officer to help complete form and check suitability of evidence on 07/04. She took form with her and left me a receipt letter confirming she had taken it.

Text received 30/04 confirming form received that date; this was followed up either a letter by post on 05/05 stating same as text. Is this the scan date?

When discussing claim progress with our family worker a couple of weeks ago, she advised calling the helpline to ask they accept the letter from the HVT as the returned date as it was in DWP possession from that date. So I spoke to them last week and they advised they weren’t aware of the HVT or whether they could take into:account the date the form was taken from me rather than the date I received the text which means it’s outside the window for backdating to be considered. They advised I send in the receipt letter with a covering letter requesting it be backdated to 06/03 if we’re successful in our claim.

I didn’t know that I could have asked at the time whether it was already allocated to a case worker but, when I asked if they could give any idea of time lines, I was told they’re no longer giving any information on timeframes as they vary so wildly but that new claims do seem to be moving more quickly than renewals or CoC claims.

I did ask CoPilot (I find it a bit more accurate than other AI apps) about timescales and the answer was that, in March 2026, up to 90% of new claims are being dealt with and decisions made within 9-12 weeks. Now just keeping my fingers crossed we hear soon - and that we are successful!

TreeCake · 28/05/2026 17:07

Our scan date is 28.04 so it sounds like we may hear soon. Unsure whether my DD will be awarded or not, hopefully not long to find out.

Coffeeandbooks88 · 29/05/2026 08:30

My four year old received £458 today. Scan date 28/04. Would anyone know what rate this is? I doubt he is getting any mobility.

Looks like higher rate care. Are you sure you couldnt have applied for mobility too?

We answered all the questions. I know you can't get low mobility until five and I don't think he is bad enough for high. We use reins and pushchair quite a bit but that is because he might run (autistic) but thought they had to not be able to walk to get it. I guess soon enough we will get the forms as he is five early next year. Higher care will be amazing. 👍

There are some circumstances where a child with autism might get an award of HRM, but it is very limited and the evidence has to be there to show the child meets all 5 “tests” to meet the eligibility criteria - this article on the website for the charity “Contact - for families of children with disabilities” explains how they may be eligible.

I'm a glutton for punishment! Currently waiting for a CoC for my son and NC for my daughter.

CoC SD: 07/04
NC SD: 01/05

NC has been awarded, MRC & LRM - can see the payment pending in my Monzo account.

So, son's CoC took 5 weeks and daughter's NC 4 weeks from the scan dates.

TreeCake · 30/05/2026 11:54

I phoned yesterday to see whether a decision has been made yet for my daughters NC, the scan date for which was 28/04. She said no and couldn't help further.

Lion10 · 31/05/2026 00:02

Do they back pay if COC is accepted or no? xx

Crybaby84 · 31/05/2026 23:08

Hi I sent a new claim on 6/05. I called last week and they said they haven't received it. How long roughly should it take for them to receive and scan? Thank you.

I’ve heard some taking 4-5 weeks to receive and scan. With some getting lost along the way. I sent mine on 15/05 and they scanned it on 18/05. I’d ring again to see if they’ve received it now and if not I’d be filling another form out just incase
