SD = Scan date
NC = New Claim
MR = Mandatory Reconsideration
CoC = Change of circumstances
LRC = low rate care
MRC = medium rate care
HRC = high rate care
LRM = low rate mobility
HRM = high rate mobility

This is a page where we are all in the same boat, trying to win what our children deserve, please be kind and support one another, we all have enough stress without adding to it 😁

Hi everyone, haven't been on for quite some months. My sons COC from LRM to HRM was declined in Oct, we stayed the same on HRC and LRM. I called Nov and they took the MR over the phone and I then sent in the written MR with additional evidence at the beginning of Dec, when would my scan date be? And how long have people been waiting? Text I got on 6th Dec said upto 25 weeks, but this isn't my first rodeo, so thats probably a load of crap!! 25 weeks will be up at the end of the month if Dec is my scan date

NotGoodAtWaiting · 15/05/2026 14:37

Hope everyone is ok,
I know its been asked a million times already, but roughly how long are renewals taking at the moment? Its my sons first one and forgot how anxiety twitching the wait is 😂. SD was 27th May and renewal due in July

NimbleQuail · 15/05/2026 15:01

I just got a text saying they’ve received my claim and aim to tell me the outcome within 25 weeks, must have been scanned on immediately.

Hi, is anyone getting HRM for their 3 year old? My son has developmental delays and cannot sit on his own yet, crawl or walk and is currently on HRC for various other cardiac reasons. I don’t know whether to do a COC. Thanks

I think you can contact them and just apply for the mobility component rather than a COC. I would have thought he’d qualify. I think they’re supposed to automatically send you a pack to apply before they turn 3 but as they haven’t I would call them. I find calling as soon as they open is the best way to get through.

That's really good my coc scan date is the 15th April so hopefully i hear soon.

Fingers crossed it's in the next week or two for you.

They've also increased his entitlement period, originally 2025-2027 and it's now 2028, so I don't have to stress about renewal forms for a while!

Hi all, still waiting on a NC (12ish weeks now I think). My partner who made the claim called last week and the guy said we'd been assigned a case worker (not sure when) but was otherwise incredibly unhelpful. My partner said she knew he couldn't tell her the timescales but could he give a rough idea of weeks or months and he said that it could be one of those timeframes (XD) and generally gave nothing at all. So I'm wondering, is there any timescale when you have been assigned by someone or is it a "how long is a piece of string" scenario? Kinda wished we'd done it electronically and not on paper now as we can't backdate it even if we do eventually get something, but having a space to use a mobile/laptop with the kids is trickier than it sounds! Still, any idea on timescales, if any, now we've been informed we've been assigned to someone, would be appreciated! Thanks

NimbleQuail · 18/05/2026 07:11

It doesn’t make any sense does it, some NC are taking five weeks I’ve seen and others months still. I think when my dd’s was with the decision maker it was about five days. But I’ve heard once they’ve been assigned they don’t get reassigned if they’re in annual leave or off sick, they just wait for them!

Argh yeah that's nuts. Hopefully it will be fairly soon like yours was, thanks for your reply.

BristolMum96 · 21/05/2026 07:57

A little update for anyone going through the tribunal process - DWP were meant to respond to my tribunal notice by yesterday. They didn’t.

PenStar2025 · 21/05/2026 12:07

Hi all,
I posted my daughter's renewal form on the 18th May and it was scanned on the 20th May so that's much more efficient than it has been in the past!
Her claim actually ran out on the 8th May and I sent it late due to a mixture of anxiety and family health problems.
This is her first renewal, when I made a new claim 2 years ago her form went missing twice.
I'm so glad they've accepted the late form and I hope she's not waiting too long.

PoliteCyanCat · 21/05/2026 17:06

Thought it may be helpful for people waiting on a NC to see our timeline.

23rd March rang for forms
15th April posted forms via Royal Mail 24hr signed for
16th April scan date
20th May received first payment (£848.20 so assuming MRC and LRM??)

I thought we would get a text to say my son had been awarded as they were so quick at sending the scanning text. But I heard nothing, just money into the bank.

North87 · 21/05/2026 20:11

Hi, sent forms for a NC, I have had a text saying that they have received them. Will I receive another text once they have been scanned? Thanks!

Babybell86 · 22/05/2026 12:29

Hi all, if you are sending NC forms I can only recommend sending them way before the 6 weeks and get it signed for. Sent within 6 weeks and I have proof of this.
DWP advisor even admitted they have huge backlogs to get stuff scanned but that doesn’t make a difference.
I explained if I had known it was 4 weeks backlog we would never have been able to get it to them in time anyway as needed school etc to fill
in their part.Still won’t budge so need to ask for a MR? What a joke.

AugustLily · 22/05/2026 15:56

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has any advice. I had a COC 12/03/2025, MR for the COC 15/09/2025, I was refused on 11/04/2026 and on the 20th April I called and I was promised a phone call in the next 24 h which never happened to be honest I didn’t believe them so completed tribunal on the same date ( they had until 18th May to respond and they didn’t). On the 15th April the decision for the renewal was made, I called on the 30th to ask what the next steps are and if I need to complete a MR or would the appeal cover it and I was told that because the decisions were made separately I would have to complete an MR for the renewal which I did and was told I have until 30th May to send any documents I have. After I gathered a detailed SENDCo letter and other appointment letters I sent them in, so I called on the 20th May to make sure they got it. To my surprise I was told I don't have any MR going on and only an appeal, after I gave him the exact times I called and applied he said he spoke to someone and I will definitely get a phone call in the next 48h which again did not happen. Really sorry for the long post but I feel like this is a joke now, after all the contradicting information I get from them. Has anyone gone thru this and has any advice please?

We are the 28th. I have seen some from about the 14th getting a decision so hopefully soon.

JoyousMauveBear · 23/05/2026 20:26

I applied for DLA, new claim, they received my forms Monday the 18th, they sent me a text. I know I have a wait to go, but just wondering how long it took other people to get a response from them?
