NC = New Claim
MR = Mandatory Reconsideration
CoC = Change of circumstances
LRC = low rate care
MRC = medium rate care
HRC = high rate care

NC SD 02/04. We received a letter today which was dated 07/04 asking for us to send our son's birth certificate. Has anyone else had to do this? Did it delay a decision? Is this a standard thing or a good sign? Sorry for all the questions 🙈

Anything on COC dates?

Hey I asked the same question just before you yesterday but have a payment in my bank today, so 8 weeks altogether. Scan date was 17th Feb.

Just thought I would update with some hope for anyone waiting for an MR, I rang for MR on 3rd March as my son was awarded hrc/lrm on renewal, I had lots of evidence for hrm under SMI, logged MR and said I would send further info from his teacher which I haven’t yet, received a payment this morning so just called up and they have overturned the decision and awarded HRM. So happy as I was prepared for a long wait and possible tribunal

NewmumJ · 15/04/2026 10:41

Hello called today and was told a desicion had been made Monday 13th for NC. Won’t tell me over the phone and said to wait for a letter does that mean it’s been declined?
Thank you

Sammyjane26x · 15/04/2026 11:04

Mr 27th October nearly 25 weeks and still waiting it's such a stressful long time

No thats doesnt always mean decline, just some either won't tell you or havent got that information, some will put you through to someone who can tell you though if you ask but others will still say no to that aswell! Call back using options 1514 they will tell you, hope its a positive outcome for you 🙏 do you mind me asking what your SD was? I'm NC SD 18/03 was going to ring next week to see if any updates but just wondering where they are with NCs

BristolMum96 · 15/04/2026 12:04

MR 20/10 just called up using options 1514, declined, looks like we’re going to tribunal!

Looking for some advice, MR 15/09 and ongoing renewal for 11/06 , decision was made on 11/04 for the MR. Sent extra information today mentioned to be considered for both. Would they accept it as late evidence for the MR and look at the decision again ?

Did you see my post above? Our DM didn't even look at renewal forms - just extended award based on MR! No letter received yet, but you can ask for reason over the phone, I was given it. Once the letter comes, you apply for tribunal online I believe.

I was told decision for the MR remains the same at HRC/LRM but the renewal wasn't looked at

Hmmm... I had to phone back to find out. The first call handler was a bit confused by it all. Because the renewal didn't have any notes on it, but on the MR it had a note that said renewal forms received, but based on MR will extend current award.

AugustLily · 15/04/2026 13:21

I was told that a MR can't extend the award and that's why I completed the renewal. They keep contradicting themselves and clearly did not read all the information I provided as my daughter got declined . I am mentally drained after waiting 21 weeks for her COC and 30 weeks for a MR just for them to not read everything.

Yeah, I had new info in the renewal tbh that wasn't looked at.. Physio stuff, EHCP now with specialist school named. An MR definitely can extend award by the way, as the call handler I spoke to a couple of weeks ago before it was even decided told me that they may do that as I also have a renewal on the system.

I've just applied for mobility for daughter as she is now 5 is that clased as a change of circumstances she's already getting hrc till she's 15

Letsgetitdone · 15/04/2026 15:57

I phoned today to check that my childs renewal forms had been received and was told that a decision has been made and MRC will continue. I am grateful for this decision and the financial help is amazing but we all have disturbed nights due to their wandering around the house, verbal stims when they wake up in the night and meltdowns from sensory/emotional dysregulation, I don't really have any proof of this though and only sent in a sleep diary.
Do I just accept this decision or is it worth asking them to look at it again? Also what proof could I send in?
My concern is what if they look again and decide to reduce the claim...??
Help please, any advice will be appreciated x

It can be, but be warned they can look at the whole award again and possibly change the care lower or risk losing it all, but fingers crossed for you x

Hey, I asked for a MR on the 9th October but scan date is the 22nd, mine was still in the queue on Monday but rang again today and said now with a decision maker. So hopefully yours won’t be too much longer x
