CoC = Change of circumstances
LRC = low rate care
MRC = medium rate care

Hello, My small one receives HRC and turns 3 soon, totally unable to move with severe learning disability. I sent the forms for mobility - 3rd week of Jan. I heard nothing so called an they said received 10 feb. My question is, is applying for mobility classed as COC? Are we in for a crazy long wait? And if it's awarded, will it be backdated to his birthday? thank you

Update - normal HRC received on 7/4 and £77.05 received this morning, his birthday was last week so it looks like he is awarded HRM

8 weeks from sc

MR SD 23/9/25, called this morning & it’s with a DM (finally), she told me there’s a note on the system saying the DM is going to be calling me, can anyone advise what sort of info they may need so I can be a bit prepared, I’m riddled with anxiety over this & I'm worried I’ll crumble if put on the spot. Any help would be much appreciated

TashaxJ · 09/04/2026 11:00

Sunshineclouds11 · 09/04/2026 11:48

@Eltravador13Theyve rang me once before, it was just some questions on his sleep. So I’d say clarification/more info.
Just take your time and try to think before you speak haha

Thankyou. I hope I’m not waiting too long for them to call, feel like I’m on tenterhooks waiting for the phone to ring

Does anyone know how long the waits are for coc?

Letsgetitdone · 09/04/2026 21:20

Does anyone know if renewals are only done when original claim is due to run out or are they done when received? TIA

renewal up middle of June and decision was made end of March for me

Coffeeandbooks88 · 10/04/2026 08:09

My husband sent a new claim form on the 31/3 by free post rather than recorded as I wanted. How long do you wait before ringing to check it has been received. Will there be a text or letter to say they have received it? We do have a copy of it if it gets lost. Feel like it might get lost now.

Four year boy with suspected autism and very, very delayed speech. Not non verbal but mainly one words. He is on the autism waiting list but as we don't have a diagnosis or an EHCP yet I am not optimistic. No sense of danger. The worst thing he did was try to climb over the upstairs banister and we had to nail a trellis there. 🫣

Sunshineclouds11 · 10/04/2026 08:19

@Coffeeandbooks88i didn’t send recorded and took a month for them to receive and scan on.
I had a decision made the week after (renewal)
my scan date was 18th March and I only received the acknowledgment letter this week.
decision made 31st March.

Thank you. I am planning to wait a month before checking to see if they have received it to be honest or slightly more taking into account Easter. Still annoyed he didn't insist they did recorded.

Update NC SD 06/03
Called this morning 1512 told decision made yesterday and wait for letter
Called back 1514 AWARDED high rate care and low rate mobility forgot to ask length of award.

Good luck everyone waiting

TashaxJ · 10/04/2026 11:16

NC SD 03/03 Decision made 06/04 awarded middle rate care. Reported change 08/04 on Universal Credit for disabled child element and requested back dated payment. 09/04 Universal Credit verified my children. 10/04 had the Universal Credit letter via journal with back dated amount owed. It’s been very quick this time, I waited around 28 weeks with my son’s claim in 2024. Good luck everyone ☺️ xxx

If it is a NC do you get a text on your phone once decision made then you call in to find out the decision? I am a little confused

ZedKhan · 10/04/2026 12:19

Our MR scan date was 18th of Sept, I rang today and was told a decision had been made 1st April and letter has been sent out to you, that was 10 days ago, what can I do?

I am taking is as a standard rejection letter I guess, I have read here that people are actually told over the phone if they have been awarded a COC, is that correct ? or are there any other options I can select on the phone to find out more?

How frustrating. You could maybe try option 4 & ask for your next payment date & amount & if it’s stayed the same then assume MR rejected

You will get a letter in the post or you can call to check. I didn't get a text message, I called to check and then saw pending payment into my bank before even getting letter.

Mum0 · 10/04/2026 17:57

Laurie899. Thank you will call in on Monday to check. NC SD 10/03

Loz21biu · 10/04/2026 18:05

Where are they at with COC at the moment? I’m really hopeful they will change my lil ones to HRC I have sent off all evidence - with a COC do they also back pay?

Mum0 · 11/04/2026 10:58

Update on our MR 7/09

Refused to change decision. Will be going down the tribunal route when the letter comes as I firmly believe my child meets the criteria for HRM. Apparently he’s too young to be considered SMI.. ?!

Also did not consider renewal forms, just based on the MR extended award for 3 years. Which is kinda weird as we had new evidence between last September and now. And they took ages to fill in 😅😅

robodo · 12/04/2026 08:45

Can anyone advice me about coc, how long do they have to be in place for and how long the change is expected to last for before submitting?
My 6yo has had a newly fitted NG tube noone knows how long it'll be in for I believe it'll be long term as she doesn't eat/drink.
