Universal credit and disabled child element backdating

Hey all, my little one was awarded DLA on the 7th of December. MRC and LRM which was backdated to the 31st of July. I updated my journal same day requesting disabled child element to be added and backdating was told they will investigate this. Heard nothing else so sent message in January to be told the same thing. I sent another message on 9th of February to be told its been sent to decision maker and as soon as they have an answer will update journal. Anyone else still waiting for element to be added as well as backdating???

I recieved the letters last thursday and been ignored ever since. Ended up ringing yday and they said somebody will be intouch by 6pm today. Not heard anything upto yet.
Surely it would make more sense to issue the letters at the same time. If theyve agreed to it and telling people what theyre owed and when to expect it.

Spoke to soon....just recieved a letter telling me how much they owe!
The phone call yday must of gave them the kick up the bum they needed 🤣

They send my acceptance letter 1 week ago, and then nothing.
now I just left a message in the journal asking when it will be paid.

I've made 2 complaints online and not heard anything back, I rang yesterday again and they've given the case manager another week to answer me, she was supposed to issue the payment last week 😐😐

1. Make a complaint and keep a copy
2. They should deal with it within a month, if they dont after two months send it in writing to the DWP head Office Caxton House, Tothill St, London SW1H 9NA Make sure that the subject line of the letter has 'Complaint' in it and your details
3. If that doesn't get you anywhere after a month contact The Independent Case Examiner https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/independent-case-examiner

Thank you for this, it'd coming up to 3 weeks for 1st complaint only 2 days for the other.

Yes I did, when we got awarded in July but just got added to new UC Statement for disabled child element and carer's element but no backdated payment

i called them today and someone i spk to said it will show on my next statement which didn’t sound right?

your child disabled element will be seen on the next statement as it’s verified but I’m guessing they didn’t tell u anything about back pay?x

rang up on Friday to chase the payment...finally got paid yesterday!

I'm still waiting I'm absolutely furious, was told nearly 2 weeks ago that they'd issue payment for the carers element and they still haven't. I've put a complaint in now for maladministration, they've apparently got to until tomorrow to get back to me, even though they were supposed to get back to me by yesterday 😑

I'm currently looking into legal advice now, I owe a overpayment due to carers allowance and they've already started taking that back, yet haven't given me what I'm owed.

How long did it take for the disability element to be backdated please ? Hope the carers is paid asap for you x

🤣🤣 they still not made your payment? Its crazy how long they take, you wait sooo long for dla decision then have to deal with this on top 🤦🏻‍♀️

Nope 😞 it’s been with a dm since last week ! All they really need to do is calculate it my daughter could really do with some equipment 🙁 xxxx

I’m backdating and they just message me on uc it need to be verified I’m taking it be another long wait 🤦‍♀️

I've been waiting 1 month so far for it to be verified. They have but the element on my statement but no back pay as yet. I have made a complaint online today as we already wait up to 20.weeks to get out childrens DLA so should have to wait for long periods again x

Uc sorted mine out and with case manager now but how long I don’t no 😂 I waited 42 week for dla only got it on Friday last week 🫣

It goes from case manager to another dm for backdating 🤦‍♀️ I’m waiting on dm atm and already been 3 n half weeks since case manager spoke to me x

So I’m looking at waiting longer then ??

I'm hoping that asi made a complaint that it will make them act quicker 😂 I waited 21 weeks exactly for DLA, so half the amount of time you did! It's just a joke we have to wait again for something that is so easy to add!!! Hopefully before Xmas for us all 🤞 x

2/9 asked for backdated disability element to be added.
Friday 11th I made a complaint on DWP website
Yesterday I received a message in my journal saying they will escalate it.
Today had a message in journal saying special circumstances apply and UC will be adjusted from the date of change.
So now waiting for UC to add up the elements owed from date requested then send payment.
6 weeks waiting just for a decision is madness!
Will update when I actually receive the back pay.
Hopefully before Xmas 🤣
