Nothing much to report in the house of Ben tonight which is great Grin ....no hospitalisations, no problems in school and DH got a met in his yearly appraisal which he was panicking about given my poor health and DS's assessments and dx having caused so much upheaval this year.

DH out for most of the weekend so DS and I can chill out and do nothing, maybe order a takeaway or do a drive through McDs tomorrow - sounds pretty good to me!

Finally asked my old university friend whether her DS1 had a dx having noticed his obsessions with trains, pylons and wires for years. He is due to get a dx next week! Him and DS already think that they are best friends even though they haven't ever met Grin.

moosemama · 20/04/2012 18:52

Dev, what happened to arsenic? There were several namechanges for various reasons and then I lost track - is she still hiding around here under a different name or has she jumped ship? I am absolutely hopeless at recognising people when they namechange.

moosemama · 20/04/2012 18:52

Ooo you're the same age as me Dev. What a co-incidence. Wink

coff33pot · 20/04/2012 18:53

Jacqueline Wilson seems to be the in books with my DDS Eldest had them and now passed them on to middle dd. The pages are getting paper thin Grin

devientenigma · 20/04/2012 18:58

haha Moose Grin

arsenic jumped with the rest of us about 2 year ago, when the board changed loads after it was highlighted in the news............it just got crazy, plenty of media lurking and coming up with odd Q's to see the bites etc

Ben10NeverAgain · 20/04/2012 18:59

I see Dev. I always wondered what the talk about people leaving was. It was all before a lot of us joined then.

Does Baileys go with pizza - why yes!

Basically it was a short break care campaign, which used mn to start the ball rolling.

Ben10NeverAgain · 20/04/2012 19:02

That must have been horrible never knowing whether your posts would end up in the paper :(

it got a bit unsafe with people hiding behind nicknames and as it all went mad, the board went downhill, it became quite argumentative, people striving to be the name people know iyswim. Didn't matter who got hurt, or who got in the way. It also wasn't just journalists hiding on the board. I think the board was opened so people were noticed it. Whereas beforehand you had to request and be approved after you clarified why you want on the board.

SallyBear · 20/04/2012 19:09

Yes my Yahoo Treacher Collins Group and the Jaw Distraction group is all about applying and being approved. It does make you feel safer.

insanityscratching · 20/04/2012 19:09

Evening all, a good week at insanity's house I'll be getting blase and then it will all go pants up but I'm enjoying it whilst it lasts. Ds played tennis today with a classmate. First time ever he has participated in a sport that isn't a solo effort.Dd's been lovely all week, had an amazon delivery today so she is well stocked for the weekend on books (three about a hamster called Humphrey anyone?) and dvd's (Grease, Muppets and another one I forgot which though) and we're going to the cinema Sunday.
Only Tribunal next week and dd's AR the week after on the horizon

No, not a name changer - I was just a lot more shy in those days and didn't post as much as I do now.

I was very fond of arsenic/carrot and her other cakey incarnations, she was one of the ones that really made me feel welcome in the early days before ds was even referred, let alone dxd.

The whole media circus and ensuing board meltdown was very unpleasant and the place wasn't the same after everyone left. I think its great again now though. I had to make a conscious effort to realise that I was one of the older posters once everyone had left and needed to make newcomers feel a bit more welcome. I did/do try, but there are still plenty of people here that know so much more than I do about everything most things, so sometimes I don't post because I think I have nothing useful to add and often arbitrary hug or Wine just doesn't seem like enough.
