Hi bunny Sarah I also done a claim for my 7 year old son they received my form on the 3rd august 22. My son has autism dsm-5 I sent his report in with the form. At week 8 last week I got a letter saying sorry its taking so long for a decision and they would write to me ASAP still haven't heard anything at week 9. I phoned them up and they said there dealing with claims from the end of June so looks like we still have a long wait. Hope this helps.

Hi, my son's form was scanned August 8th. Had an initial letter of receipt, then another letter earlier this week to say sorry for the delay (so also after 8 weeks). I'd just sent off some additional information, which is showing as received by royal mail tracking, but I'm going to call tomorrow to make sure they've logged them against his application. 12 weeks puts us at October 31st. When I did call once to make sure the form was received within the six weeks from when I requested it I was told that's the week when it would hopefully be looked at, but it seems that 12-14 weeks is more accurate at the moment. So second or third week of November would seem about right. 🤔

I also got that letter. I knew vefore i opened it that it was dla and because it was a thin letter i thought FFS he has been denied it!! Then saw the word sorry 🤣🤣🤣 thankfully it was just a curtesy letter!!! I was ringing up every week until i joined the other thread on here and saw they were only upto june!!!

Did you send you additional info using special delivery?

I'm thinking November time also and I just sent his diagnosis report off with the form hopefully this will be enough just have the feeling he will get denied though.

Lindz1985 · 08/10/2022 19:14

I sent my forms off on the 20th July and still waiting on a decision.
I don't know why they are so behind when a lot of them work from home and did do through the pandemic.

Gemma96x · 08/10/2022 20:35

I know it just seems forever for a decision just keeping fingers crossed as got a bad feeling my son will be refused.

Bunnysarah · 09/10/2022 09:47

My son is only 1 and ive heard how hard it is for a baby to be awarded DLA. He has just been diagnosed with kabuki syndrome. He has severe hypotonia, difficulty feeding and sleeping. Ive sent a pediatrician report, the diagnosis and an action plan thats put in place for him plus all the people involved in his care. Just hoping this is enough

Hi i sent off a first time claim, received a letter dated 10th august saying received. Last week received a letter saying it hasnt been looked at yet. I did send additional evidence and medical notes to the freepost address about 5 weeks ago, do they tend to notify if theyve received the extra info or not? Daughter has additional personal care needs for the last 7 years however not classed as a disability but new consultant advised to apply for dla based on her extra needs both day and night.

The dont inform you when they receive the extra info but after a few weeks i would ring up and make sure they have scanned it onto your claim

Yeah been told that lots but if your child needs more care than the average 1 year old they cant refuse it!!

Hoping I've sent enough evidence to prove she has higher care needs than the average 1 year old. She's been turned down by 4 nurserys because they didn't feel comfortable taking her on with the level of care she needs finally found somewhere that will but had to completely drop my work hours as they will only take her for 5 hours at a time!

BecLew97 · 10/10/2022 14:12

Scan date was August 1st, I rang this morning and they’ve said it’ll be around 3 weeks time when a decision is made.

Bunnysarah · 10/10/2022 14:31

@Lissysmum21 i had this same problem. Was offered a place in august but soon as i told them about isaacs difficulties they no longer had a place. Ive since been told they are not allowed to do that! Fingers crossed we get the award we deserve!

Scaned My form on 3rd august so hoping it isn't that long now

Weez88 · 11/10/2022 19:57

Hello ladies, I'm currently on week 13 waiting on a decision, I phoned them 2 weeks ago and got told to call back if not heard anything by 19th oct. The gentleman on the phone told me it's currently taking 13-14 weeks on most applications Hmm

Lissysmum21 · 17/10/2022 14:24

Its crazy isn't it, I got told by one nursery I would have to wait for them to employ a 1:1 worker for Elysia-Jane and have her statemented before she could be placed!! Counting down the weeks now I'm on week 10 of waiting but have had more hospital referrals since putting in her forms

Gemma96x · 17/10/2022 20:32

Hi does any1 have a decision yet 🤔 I'm still waiting to hear something.

It's very frustrating! I've seen a comment today to say when they phoned yesterday they had started to look at claims from the 18th July this week, and another lady said she had been told another 2 weeks! 😬 🤷🏼‍♀️ x

Gemma96x · 17/10/2022 20:57

Oh gosh it's crazy I just have the feeling it's all for nothing and my son won't get anything.
