I'm a freelance HR consultant and have so far used my name as my business name but I don't love it.

I feel like I can't see the wood for the trees and would appreciate some outside perspective.

In terms of what I do, I work with SMEs to help the owners/Directors get the best from their people. Things like communication, motivation, engagement, development, productivity, succession planning, managing change and generally act as a sounding board. Being proactive to create the best environment/culture so employees can thrive.

I don't get involved in recruitment or disciplinaries.

Grateful for some inspiration.

People Tree

I love it @theduchessofspork. Apparently it’s a clothing company.

Maybe I should try out some try names.

What about Hawthorn?

Ha ha. Acme always reminds me of road runner @Medlady. I could have an anvil as my logo!

What do people think about phrases, for example ‘Build a Better Future People Consultancy’?

Papillon23 · 28/10/2023 17:48

I quite like the idea of "Beyond HR - People Consultants" or similar. Makes clear you're not standard HR, still catches people searching for HR or for people.

You'd need to tag up your website with your name because if you do talks etc it's often that that people would remember.

I think I'd go with that or "Surname People Consulting" - serious and people only have to remember your name.

I like Beyond HR too @Papillon23. I think it piques curiosity.

Surname would be the simplest. When I see other people using their surname it seems fine but somehow mine doesn’t. Perhaps that’s just because I’m too close to it.

I was thinking of using it but changing one letter to make it one step removed.

Of course ‘Beyond HR’ is already taken…

Makes me think of a dating agency @Medlady.

I’m so grateful for all your suggestions.

The other thing about harmony is, it’s a bit soft for what I do. I wouldn’t describe myself as hard but I’d really want to focus on putting effort and hard work in and seeing results in the form of high performance and greater profitability. That’s my jam.

There are two companies called hrmony - it will just make it very difficult for you to rank if they are both active. Honestly I've run multiple businesses, just pick an easy name people remember and start building your marketing foundations as that is the bit that takes ages

So which is the company name? All the first 6 words? If so a bit long I think.

So here’s my current thinking, something along the lines of ‘light up’.

So Brighten, Shine, Beacon, Brighter, Fire Up, Spark…

Fi HR up?! Lighting up your employees potential.

Lwrenagain · 28/10/2023 18:49

I really cannot express how much I should not be here with my no gcses so I'm really just gegging in here, but I find short and simple is key with a brand.

I like words small words with a punchy tag line, so I'd be tempted to have the line sorted first.

So from the words you used this is my crack at this

Rise
Achieving High Performance

I'm going to use that as an eg but it'll work well with a logo iyswim?
