Help with a name for my HR consultancy please

PiningForTheMoon · 18/10/2023 14:34

I'm a freelance HR consultant and have so far used my name as my business name but I don't love it.

I feel like I can't see the wood for the trees and would appreciate some outside perspective.

In terms of what I do, I work with SMEs to help the owners/Directors get the best from their people. Things like communication, motivation, engagement, development, productivity, succession planning, managing change and generally act as a sounding board. Being proactive to create the best environment/culture so employees can thrive.

I don't get involved in recruitment or disciplinaries.

Grateful for some inspiration.

The People People ?

Thanks @Oceancreature, do you think that sounds better than the people person?

All things people?

All things people except for recruitment 😀

People person is a good one!

WYorkshireRose · 18/10/2023 16:01

People "person" makes you sound a bit small. Which even if you are, isn't a great thing. People People is better.

I did wonder about that, thanks for your take on it @WYorkshireRose

I like having ‘people’ in the name, thanks @pancakesandsunshine.

Is it too broad though? In terms of people searching for advice?

It depends if you want to rank for this name organically on Google you need to look at what else there is with a similar name

Parakeetamol · 27/10/2023 21:41

Honestly I think you need people in a strapline but to have your name as the name of something a bit more XYZ Consulting: the people people

I don’t understand how the ranking works @bryceQ. What do I need to know?

How about ‘[my initials] People Consulting’ @Parakeetamol?

So if you called yourself something really genetic eg

The people consultant

Many many companies would have websites built around these keywords and you wouldn't show up on Google.

If you work off word of mouth this would be less of an issue. However also consider what is already taken on companies house, and what domain names are taken - you can search on go daddy for this.

This is why it's often easier to go with your name

Bryce Q Consulting

As it's more likely to be available.

bryceQ · 27/10/2023 22:15

If you have zero knowledge of websites and SEO - I would get help from a consultant to build it.

I always think when offering a professional business service it’s better to not use snappy names. The most professional and succinct approach is your name and a statement of what you do.

Do t use anything with "solutions " in it. Very overused and 1980s.

But was does Thriving and Striving mean in relation to the professional service you offer. It doesn’t encapsulate the service you are offering, it’s meaningless. Just snappy words that offer no insight into your business offering.

Good point @friendlycat. I love puns but my business is professional and mostly serious and I want to reflect that.

Chat GPT is quite good for suggestions like this, might be worth a try
