Help with a name for my HR consultancy please

PiningForTheMoon · 18/10/2023 14:34

I'm a freelance HR consultant and have so far used my name as my business name but I don't love it.

I feel like I can't see the wood for the trees and would appreciate some outside perspective.

In terms of what I do, I work with SMEs to help the owners/Directors get the best from their people. Things like communication, motivation, engagement, development, productivity, succession planning, managing change and generally act as a sounding board. Being proactive to create the best environment/culture so employees can thrive.

I don't get involved in recruitment or disciplinaries.

Grateful for some inspiration.

PeopleBuilding

CrowdPleaser

CrowdReSourcing

I love the idea of 'build' in the name @Medlady. That's going on my flipchart!

Nourish HR Consultant

NouHRish

I think I prefer 'flourish' to 'nourish' but adding the HR in makes me cringe a little.

A friend of mine suggested Empow:HR and I couldn't get on with it.

Have a look a what similar companies are called.

Advance search on active companies on Companies House with this SIC code - 78300.

Which is the code for Human resources provision and management of human resources functions

Great tip @Mountaindhew, thanks for that.

So, what about words that start with HR
So Happy/harmonious/healthy paired with results/resolutions/relations etc? It'll be easy to make a cool logo with that too!

I like the idea in theory @Lwrenagain, I just can't get the right words. Id love mnemonic but again, I haven't quite got it.

I think I'm trying too hard to make something fit.

One of the reasons I love Thrive is that it can relate to people and to business and it has HR in the middle but it's taken.

Other words with HR is the middle give the wrong impression (eg shrewd).

Harmonious is too soft for me. While I am compassionate, I am also result driven and focus on profitability through people. Getting the best out of people is about empowering them and believing in them, not command and control.

I don't think what you call your business is what matters- Amazon don't sell rainforests after all! Call your business what you like and then focus on getting content on your website that contains the search terms your ideal clients will be typing into Google. Start a blog so you can get fresh content for Google to rank you on. Get a Google My Business page set up for local SEO too. Talented Ladies Club do a brilliant SEO course which I'm currently doing for my own business and I know plenty of other business owners who have had great results after implementing what they learnt (or hire someone to do it for you but the course is far cheaper and it's all in plain English!)

PiningForTheMoon · 28/10/2023 15:25

Good point about Amazon @Jxtina86

Posted too soon...

I've got some content on LinkedIn and I have a Google business page (no website yet).

I'm doing a social media course to help with SEO, visibility etc

I don't know what my ideal clients will search for but I'm going to work on things around motivation, empowerment, strengths, leadership etc

Take a look at AnswerThePublic - type in your topic (2-3 words) and then it'll tell you what people search for in relation to that topic. It's a good starting point and easier than Google Trends or Google Keyword Planner!

PiningForTheMoon · 28/10/2023 15:38

Thanks @Jxtina86, someone else mentioned that to me. Must be a sign!

Is the term Personnel horrifically outdated now? Coz it used to be that, then hr and then a friend I know on LinkedIn styled as Head of People so not sure.

But maybe, if it's not hopeless, add Personnel.

Actually probably best ignore me Grin

Maybe I could bring back Personnel @tobee. It must be due a revival.

itsgettingweird · 28/10/2023 16:38

Power is a good word. Just wondering with image if you can get Powhr or something to get the HR bit in?

People Pow - HR

But then that's because I'm thinking of the term pow wow for group meeting but I don't think people would get it 🤷‍♀️🤣

Sorry @Lwrenagain, I love mushroom but for all the wrong reasons.

I also love tHRead as I often refer to threading together different aspects of people management. I just don’t want people to think I’m a haberdashery. I’m going to play with it a bit.

I love the word passionate and I am. I’ll definitely use that somewhere.

Whereas I thought of comics @itsgettingweird. And this is my challenge, what will people associate with a word.

An example I was given by someone is HRsoul and all I could think of was arsehole!

What do your competitors call themselves? How would someone go about finding you?
We have a lot of these types at work, they're usually called coaches/leadership consulting. Coaches work with individuals helping them get the best out of their career, the latter with LM's, which sounds like what you do,

A quick Google for leadership consulting shows things like Blue Beyond Consulting, The Leadership Coaches.

Individual executive coaches tend to have their own names like this:

Are you a one woman band? If so, your name can be a very strong brand, especially if you go on to give talks etc. People will be able to find you easily.
