Hi everyone
I'm getting back on track with SW, determined to lose at least a stone that I have been hanging onto for far too long!

Online shop done, tomorrow's meals planned thanks to the SW magazine - anyone else in a similar position and want to join?!

My first meeting is not until next Thursday but can't wait another week :)

Have rejoined on line (i understand the plan has changed a bit and some sun/free foods are different so need to get back into the detail)

Im trying to combine with 16:8 eating and doing more exercise.

WillardJStevens · 05/01/2019 07:39

First weight in - 3lbs down. Yay!

agteacht · 05/01/2019 08:48

PS bought that Tom Kerridge book you recommended. On offer for only £6 in WHSmiths and you're right, a fab book. Did you say you've worked out some of the syns? If so would appreciate them :)

@agteacht here you go:

These are the ones I worked out (hope I worked out right!)

Syns below are by portion, not for the whole recipe. Also assume use fry light not olive oil so haven’t synned that

Shakshuka breakfast eggs - free if feta HEx - 2 syns if not.
Spinach and basil pesto courgetti - 6.5 syns (3 for pesto, 3.5 for courgetti)
Creamy wild mushroom courgetti - 6.5 syns, 5.5 if you don’t use cheese/ HEx it
Pea and ham pasta - 6 syns if use half fat creme fraiche, 4.5 if 0% fat creme fraiche
Chilli con carne - free without tortillas and without cheese on top
Beef stroganoff - 4.5 syns
Southern style chicken (not inc pot salad) - 4.5 syns
Chicken biryani - free
Chicken with tomato, mascarpone and basil - 5 if use full fat mascarpone, 3 for low fat mascarpone
Baked cod with beans, courgettes and chorizo - 3 syns
Cream of tomato soup - 2 syns (elmlea)
Pea and mint soup - free

All the above I have made and I loved them all.

A couple I have worked out but not made yet:

Chickpea and spinach curry - free
One layer lasagne - 6 syns

agteacht · 05/01/2019 13:12

That's amazing thanks so much! Think I'll do the chicken biryani tonight - free, bargain!

Writing that out made me hungry so I did the breakfast eggs this morning - yum!

TK uses a lot of garlic, hot smoked paprika and oregano, so stock up!

likeridingabike · 05/01/2019 17:50

I finally made it to class this morning, I've rejoined as I've put all the weight I'd lost back on bar half a pound so no point in keeping my history. I need to lose a huge amount so I'm going to focus on a stone at a time, so aiming for the first stone off by the end of February. I've got a holiday booked in 6 months, 3 stone gone by then my longer term goal.

sazzle27 · 05/01/2019 18:04

Weighed myself this morning (3 days after my DP due to work shifts).
Feeling ready to do this, and glad it's both of us doing it!
Got 2-3 stone to lose... so a bit daunted by that to be honest..
Planning in incorporating SW into our everyday lives, trying new recipes etc etc.

I will be tweaking it a bit for me, as fruit and high carbs aren't great for me, so hopefully upping the veg for speed and just one meal with carbs (excluding veg carbs - i mean pasta/rice/potatoes), or two with carbs if v small portions..

Also thinking about trying to link in intermittent fasting with it all - has anyone got any experience of the two together?

mynameisMrG · 05/01/2019 18:07

That’s amazing @willardjstevens! I rejoined on Thursday and there was no surprise in my weight to be honest. Been a good couple of days so far. The key to me losing weight is planning in advance and sticking to it. My downfall is lack of speed veg so that’s my aim this month to try and get to that third of a plate! Hope everyone’s weeks are going well Smile

WillardJStevens · 05/01/2019 19:57

I’m making chickpea and spinach curry for dinner - syn free

Oly4 · 05/01/2019 20:44

I joined SW last Jan and lost 2.5st by summer. I’ve managed to keep all of it off but now need to push in to lose the last 10lb. Really want to get to 10st 4lb which is where I feel comfortable for me 5ft 4in height. My motivation is actually floaty summer dresses! I love just being able to throw on a dress and sandals

Calzone · 06/01/2019 00:47

I feel so fat and sluggish and I need to get back on plan......

I’m going to go on Tuesday morning and I’ve charged up my Fitbit to get motivated again.

3 stone would be awesome and if I’m being totally honest, i like the attention I get from losing weight.
I’m so easily triggered by food though.

agteacht · 07/01/2019 15:18

How is everyone getting on?

I was away for the weekend and had a lot of alcohol. So need to draw a line under that and forget about my syn overload. Tomorrow I start bootcamp for Jan which is class 3x week for 4 weeks. That should keep me away from the wine I hope!!!

Day 5 here, been on plan 100% but starting to crave sweet things now. I have used all my healthy extras already and have 5 syns left. Thinking about going to bed early!

mynameisMrG · 07/01/2019 18:02

Day 4 here. Not doing too badly. Back at work today so that has helped as not sat around looking at food!

amcnickname · 07/01/2019 18:52

Hi all! I’ve got a hol booked for July, I’m heavier than ever 13,9 and need to do something to shift some of these pounds... I’m using an old book of slimming world but I’m not sure about my syn allowance and I think the book is 6 years old so quite out of date.
I would love to join you girls and plan to weight in fri morns...
Can any of you tell me the syn allowance please?
Thanks

agteacht · 07/01/2019 19:49

Hi @amcnickname and welcome!

You can have between 5 and 15 syns, two healthy extra a options and 1 healthy extra b

Hope that helps!

Hi all, can I join too? I've been on and off SW for years. I live abroad so can't make it to group but am an online member. However, 2018 was a tough year for me, mentally, emotionally etc so SW took a back seat.
Basically, my diet for the past 3 months has been mainly carbs, grease and wine!

I weighed in a last Tuesday at 10st 8.5lbs and was semi-good this week. Doing a "sort-of" detox Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday this week ( Basically SP, with loads of speed and loads of water, and NO WINE) Hoping to have a mostly dry January so that should help.

I also used to do 5k 2 or 3 times a week but haven't had a routine for months. Was planning on starting today but my DS has come down with bronchitis, so am stuck at home for the next few days.

Plan is: 7lbs for January ( unrealistic?), 5lbs for February and 4lbs for March which should get me to 9st 6ish which I'd be happy with. (I'm v short)
Then could push for a last 4lbs before the summer when we are going on a sun holiday with (skinny) friends and will have to somehow present myself in a bikini..

My first "new start" weigh in for 2019 is tomorrow so will let you know how I go.

agteacht · 07/01/2019 21:34

Hi @springlenner and thanks for joining us!!

I could have written your post myself! Especially the wine part...

I weighed in at just under 10st12 and am aiming for about 9st9 so look forward to seeing how your journey goes! I don't know if 7lb in January is too ambitious, I hope it's not as id like the same!

springlenner · 07/01/2019 22:26

@agteacht blindly hoping for a great first week to get me half way there Grin

springlenner · 08/01/2019 19:45

So weighed in today and 3 1/2 off! Yay! I know most of it water/wine weight but happy anyway. Hoping for another good week this week as still feeling the Christmas bloat +++
How is everyone else getting on?

mynameisMrG · 08/01/2019 19:55

@springlenner that's amazing well done you ☺ i weigh in on Thursday. I'm hoping I've lost something as I've really tried this week

agteacht · 08/01/2019 23:06

I weigh in on Thursday too, but as of this morning I was only down 1lb 😬😬😬

Had a very good day today though so hopefully get another 1/2lb or so by Thursday.
Not a great start!!!!

Amazing result though @springlenner

Hi all can I join? I started sw last year and lost 17lbs but then went on holiday and lost and gained the same 2 lbs til Christmas and have now put 7lbs on.
Weigh in is Thursday night and I've had a fairly good week so far!
