Starting 2019 with SW

Hi everyone
I'm getting back on track with SW, determined to lose at least a stone that I have been hanging onto for far too long!

Online shop done, tomorrow's meals planned thanks to the SW magazine - anyone else in a similar position and want to join?!

My first meeting is not until next Thursday but can't wait another week :)

Welcome @Atetoomanymincepies @sazzle27 @GarbageBell
We have lots of past experience between us!!

Well done on the big walk @WeMarchOn

Today I had a roast dinner so lots of syns to log. I think worth it though!!

@mynameisMrG sorry to hear that but if it helps I have the same motivation. Been ttc for over a year with no luck (miscarried at the beginning of the year) and I think losing weight can only help. Also I really don't want to get pregnant heavier than ever, I need to get myself on the right path now :)
Plus you can do SW when pregnant so seems ideal.

mynameisMrG · 30/12/2018 16:51

Yes my friend has been on sw while pregnant and has only gained about 11 pounds. Brilliant compared to the 5 stone with her first!

WillardJStevens · 30/12/2018 19:10

Started SW in earnest yesterday and have been on plan today, and had a nice long walk with the kids this afternoon. Have been drinking herbal tea by the gallon for a few weeks anyway and am already feeling the better for it.

I bought Tom Kerridge’s Lose Weight for Good book last year and there are some great recipes in there. I worked out the syns for a number of them, substituting fry light for oil spray. Dinner last night was the Chicken Biryani (syn free) and tonight was Provençal Salmon Traybake (1 syn for olives). Both gorgeous recipes and generous, veg packed portions. Would recommend the book because even though his diet focus is on calorie reduction, they are very sw friendly too.

Am planning a TK chilli with JP tomorrow night as we’ve friends round for NYE, with a few glasses on fizz to see off 2018, then will go dry for January and as far into Feb as I can get. (Last year I got to 3rd week Feb before a party!) weight shifts so much quicker when I am off the booze!

agteacht · 01/01/2019 13:58

That book sounds great @WillardJStevens, I must have a look for it

Well I definitely had faaaaaarrrr too many Proseccos last night, there's no point even trying to count the syns!!!
But today is a new start so here we go! Need to go for my first run of 2019...

Tailrunner · 01/01/2019 14:16

Well last night was definitely a bit off plan - I had decided in advance that I'd have a few treats so I'm not too worried. Back on it today and I got up early to do a parkrun double with some friends. I managed to complete both parkruns without any walking which I'm pleased with but I'm really peckish now so better see if we have any free foods in the fridge.

UghFletcher · 01/01/2019 14:20

Can I join you?

Have just weighed today and am going to follow SW to lose a bit of the Xmas weight 🙈

Need to find a way to shoehorn the exercise in, I've done a shop and mealplanned so am all uptogether in that sense

Poodloo · 01/01/2019 17:11

Did a great walk today with a huge incline. But not eaten on plan. I weighed yesterday. I'm 11 stone 2. I'm going to weigh myself once a fortnight (I'm not going to a group. I have the slimming world app although I think the app could be majorly improved!)

Tomorrow I'm going to have porridge in the morning with soya milk.
Soup for lunch.
I have some carrots so might take those to work as a snack. Then in the evening probably a jacket potatoe or maybe roasted veg and fish fingers or something (will syn fish fingers!)

Hope everyone has a good start to the new year.

Takiwatanga · 01/01/2019 17:50

Hi all! Thanks for starting this thread, OP. I am All Over This. I am currently at 12 stone and need to get down to 11 at least. I am 5 foot 8 so 11 stone on my frame is slim ish. Any less and I do look pretty slim Jim, so any less would be a bonus.

My dilemma is do I join a group or go it alone? I've been to groups loads, never stick them... But feel they may be vital?

agteacht · 01/01/2019 21:13

Two park runs is mega @Tailrunner!

I managed to run 4km which felt like a big achievement as didn't want to get off the couch 😂
MapMyRun tells me my last run was 3 June so basically six months ago 😬
Onwards and upwards!

Welcome @UghFletcher and @Takiwatanga
I'm not sure whether the meetings are vital @Takiwatanga, lots of people seem to do it outside of that, but I am re-joining the meetings on Thursday as I think I need to be reminded of the ins and outs, hear some tips and keep myself accountable!

Sounds like a great plan for tomorrow @Poodloo
I am a similar starting weight to you, 10.12, am short and therefore it's very obvious! What is your target?

agteacht · 01/01/2019 21:13

Not sure why stuff has gone bold sorry 😂

shecamefromgreece · 01/01/2019 21:25

Can I join you?
I'm rejoining tomorrow night, I've done it before but just messed around with it (and got heavier in the process!)
I need to lose four stoneBlush

HopeElise94 · 02/01/2019 02:01

Hi, Hope I'm ok to join im rejoining SW on Thursday I joined in Oct 2018 lost about a stone. I've not been to group for around 6 week so I've probably put about 2 stone on now. Just wondering if there's a what's app group I can join for quicker advice/support and tips thanks in advance x

Takiwatanga · 02/01/2019 07:36

Thanks, agcheat I think I shall be joining

CMH123 · 02/01/2019 09:10

I'm in, I rejoined on New Years Eve. I've previously lost two stone with them. Having major surgery in around 6 weeks so I'd like another stone off by then.

Atetoomanymincepies · 02/01/2019 20:34

I rejoined tonight, I am shocked at my weight but I am feeling positive. Really like the new book too. Currently sat meal planning for the week ahead.

How is everyone getting on?

shecamefromgreece · 02/01/2019 21:06

I rejoined tonight. I was also shocked to be expected really.
I've done my first day today and it's been fine, I've not been hungry and had nice food. I've planned for the next couple of days but then need to do a big shop.
I've made a sw friendly beef bourginion for tomorrow I've got four young children so I try and cook meals that the whole family can eat partly so I don't feel deprived but mainly because I'm lazyGrin

agteacht · 02/01/2019 22:48

Hope everyone's first meetings are going well. I am re-joining tomorrow night, am kind of looking forward to the weigh-in in a perverse way 😂

What are the new books like and there's an extra hexa now?

OP posts:
mynameisMrG · 02/01/2019 23:07

@shecamefromgreece I have four stone to loose too. I’ve been a sw member for three years now. Lost four stone in the first year and it’s just slowly crept back on. I’m rejoining tomorrow night. Even though I’ve still been going every week I thought new year, new book, fresh start. Plus I’m a sucker for the stickers Blush

Mazzmoo · 02/01/2019 23:11

I'm starting tomorrow and dreading getting on the scales. I have tried dismally to shed the weight without joining a group so I promised myself I would join immediately the new year started.
I have about 4/5 stone to lose but feel motivated and committed and I really want to enjoy shopping for clothes again.
Looking forward to starting this journey together!

Fourfantasticfrogs · 03/01/2019 10:21

Hi all. Please can I join?

Been with SW for a year and did loose a stone last year. Injury and a operation on my toe in September meant I could t run and have since put back on most of the loss.
I wasn't 100% strict withSW last time as the running helped but still recovering so need to be a lot stricter so need support!
Good luck everyone on their loss journey

shecamefromgreece · 03/01/2019 11:50

@mynameisMrG sounds pretty similar to me, I lost three and half stone after my second baby then had two more babies and have struggled to lose it.
I'm feeling pretty positive this time (she says on day twoGrin)
I've come down with a horrible lurgy so dosing myself up and just having a hot water and lemon with a tiny bit of honey.
Perfect timing as dh has gone back to work today after a three week break and I've got five kids to keep alive!!

FerreroRocherAreAmazing · 03/01/2019 14:44

Hi. I joined today and hope to lose about 2 stone. Good luck everyone! We can do this!

agteacht · 03/01/2019 22:49

Hi everyone
I had my first official weigh in today and weighed 10st 10lb which is a bit less than my unofficial weigh in at home on Saturday when I was 10st 11.8

I should be happy to have lost something but I think I was secretly hoping my scales were way out although I know how tight all my clothes have been!

Anyway joined, got the new books and stayed for the talk, came home and had a SW tea of baked eggs (no bread for once!) and then a gin and tonic as a (not sure why) treat.

Tomorrow I'm planning a run, it's my husbands birthday and we are away from Saturday so I'll have to be super disciplined.

If anyone else is a Thursday weigher or started today I hope it went well x

OP posts:
Takiwatanga · 04/01/2019 07:08

Hope the run goes well agteacht

Hope everyone is doing OK. I joined a group last night, the leader was super slim, I've never been to a group where the leader is slim so this was new for me! Also slightly more inspiring if I'm completely honest. I biught the journal to keep a diary and a new mag. I'm also going to be doing some kettlebell exercise from home, hopefully this'll get this weight off!i have a stone to lose, but a stone and a half would be amazing.

agteacht · 05/01/2019 00:26

That sounds great @Takiwatanga
I have to be honest, my leader was very overweight and that did not inspire me at all

When I last went to group years ago the leader was who I wanted to look like!

It's funny how the mind works...
