A brand new thread for 2016.....:)

For old and new members alike....please join in and post food plans, meal ideas, how you use syns, weight losses and gains, how you feel.

I started exactly a year ago on 4 January 2015.
I weighed 14st 3lbs and was a size 16. Bloated and uncomfortable, I was mortified when I saw the scales.
In week 1, I lost 9lbs which has motivated me ever since.
I currently weigh 11st 3.5lbs and just missed my 3 stone certificate at Xmas. Put on 2lbs last week and not really expecting a loss this week but I want to get to 11 stone and then re set my target to 10 stone 7lbs.

I have gone down to a comfortable size 12 and even wore a size 10 Fat Face dress yesterday.

So, let's do this.

I feel quite excited. SW has definitely changed my life......:)

Alley - I'm doing the Bristol 10k. It's relatively flat, so am really hoping it will be OK. Pouring rain however means I've been down to 1 run a week for a few weeks now and starting to worry I'm losing it!!

Muffintopmum · 04/01/2016 20:33

Thank you that's really helpful😀. I think I've got my head around it. Fingers crossed!

alleypalley · 04/01/2016 20:34

will be doing body magic daily from now on until I get bored and it turns into a clothes horse

So true. I do use mine fairly regularly, but by far its main use is a clothes horse Grin

Howlongtillbedtime · 04/01/2016 20:35

Oh man, 5.5lb gain for me tonight Hmm.

I haven't been for weeks though, so I'm back up to 12st 7. Very disappointing, but I'm planning to eat mainly sp meals for the next fortnight to get back to where I was. To tell the truth I can feel it badly in my clothes, so am really annoyed with myself! If I'd not missed so many classes I don't think I'd have put on quite so much.

wonkylampshade · 04/01/2016 21:10

If anyone has favourite sp meal options if love to hear them.

sio12345 · 04/01/2016 21:10

Hey all. Im thinking about joining slimming world .. Does it really work and what does it involve?? Ive tried many diets before and failed. I put on 2 stone after i became pregnant and i really want rid of it now. I hate the way i look and really want to change. So if anyone can help by explaining a bit more about it that would be great

maygirl · 04/01/2016 21:21

ateacupofgin I'm 5ft0, 10stone 8ish and running a half marathon in April!

Been at SW since August, and on these threads soon after. Starting weight 11 stone 4. Losing very slowly. Was down 10 pounds, had a big Christmas gain, but reigned it in so by last Wednesday I was up just 2.5 pounds which I hope to have shifted by this weeks weigh in.

Gained my pounds during pregnancies (4 stone each time). First time got pretty close to target after DS (now 9 years old) with SW and maintained until my second pregnancy. Went back after DD (now 5 years old) but plateaued at 10 st 13 for months and got fed up of going to group. That was 2010 and maintained around that weight until I rejoined this year to have another go. Recently changed my SW group and I'm doing much better there so far, and with the support of this thread Grin.

Today B 2 boiled eggs, cherry tomatoes, apple
1 Hi fi light 3 syns
L New Covent gnd mushroom soup(HeB), tomatoes
snacked on ham wrapped lettuce leaves with a light blue cheese triangle and a bowl of satsumas and apple with a muller
D chilli burgers out of SW mag, in a roll (HeB2- SP day)with celeriac chips, red onion, lettuce, tomatoes and cucumber, extra light mayo 1 syn and another cheese triangle on the burger. Was lush!

HeA was half milk allowance and the 2 cheese triangles

SW tiramisu from same magazine 2.5 syns
Curly wurly 6 syns
total 12.5 syns
Its been a hungry day today, still hungry but having hot winter spice Ribena, I've eaten loads already!

maygirl · 04/01/2016 21:27

wonky I had an SP day today and do prefer them. I just do my usual meals but serve with celeriac chips, swede/carrot mash or spirilized veg 'pasta', and do the carb versions for the rest of the family. Also need to avoid non speed fruit like bananas and grapes. I've been doing it for a while so have some yogurt occasionally.

QueenFuri · 04/01/2016 21:29

As said on another thread I'm joining tomorrow night so will be first weigh in etc, I'm going to be making a start before it have porridge for breakfast, soup for lunch and pork and veggies for dinner. On it properly from Wednesday looking forward to making some of the meals and I really really want too stick to it 100%, Ive just sat and stuffed my face for the last time!

calzone · 04/01/2016 21:33

Sp is just eating speed and protein foods plus 2 hebs and 1 HEA.

Instead of carbs, find a vegetable you like and turn it into something else.
Eg.....courgetti spaghetti
Cauliflower rice
Swede chips

No yoghurt but you can have quark.

wonkylampshade · 04/01/2016 21:33

Thanks - this evening I had veg spaghetti with tuna steak and loved it! Felt really full and satisfied afterwards. Tomorrow morning in going to cook chicken breast and have that for lunch with salad, possibly with ff yoghurt coronation sauce.

I'll also defrost some turkey mince and make burgers for tea, with roast veg salad -no potatoes!

Planning is really key for me because there are lots of lovely snacks around (I have a one year old who loves sharing, and very little willpower!!).

wonkylampshade · 04/01/2016 21:35

Thanks calzone- I didn't realise you could have 2x heb? Also - no yoghurt! Does that include the mullet lights? Will have to revise my plan.

y0rkier0se · 04/01/2016 21:36

This time of night I always get peckish! Just had a couple of slices of ham, a small packet of pre chopped pineapple and a small banana. Hope this will keep hunger at bay till breakfast!

calzone · 04/01/2016 21:37

sio......SW is very low fat. You eat a third of your plate as free speed vegetables such as broccoli or cauliflower or salad.
Meat, fish, pasta, rice, fruit and vegetable are all free. Cut the fat off everything.
You then get healthy extras of a bread choice and a milk choice which must be counted or weighed.
15 syns for treats or wine or extras in the day.

OP posts:
calzone · 04/01/2016 21:38

Yoghurt isn't a speed food so no Mullerlights I'm afraid 😨😨

OP posts:
maygirl · 04/01/2016 21:39

After a week on SP they advise to add back in a pot of free yogurt or a second HeA Wonky Also your plate has to be half speed rather than a third, but that's pretty easy if having veg spaghetti/mash etc Smile

wonkylampshade · 04/01/2016 21:40

Oh! Ok. I need a snack strategy so I don't woof the baby's food then!

maygirl · 04/01/2016 21:41

That's if you are mainly doing SP days all the time

wonkylampshade · 04/01/2016 21:42

Maybe tomorrow I'll make chicken pie with root veg mash? Would that work? Lots of leeks, cauliflower and big salad on the side?

Tbh the reason I fall on and off the wagon is my total lack of imagination with meal planning - this is my year though. I am bloody determined not to have another year 2st overweight and having to wear baggy clothes.

calzone · 04/01/2016 21:43

And the more you eat the more you will lose!!

People at work cannot believe how much I eat and lose weight.

Food for tomorrow.....

Fruit with yoghurt
Salmon salad, yoghurt
Chicken noodle stir fry, fruit salad

HEB....2 Ryvita fruit crunch with sweetened quark and blueberries
HEA....milk for drinks

OP posts:
maygirl · 04/01/2016 21:45

you can have the arla protein flavoured quark I think for about 1 syn instead of mullers. or cottage cheese

calzone · 04/01/2016 21:46

Wonky......you have to make this lasagne......with a cauliflower white sauce.

Cook cauliflower in vegetable stock. Drain but save the stock. Now blitz the cauliflower adding stock as you go to get the right consistency. You now have a jug of white sauce which needs seasoning and cheese.

Make a lasagne layering meat, pasta and white sauce. Top with cheese.

This recipe is fabulous and can also be used for macaroni cheese.

I started SW at 11st13lbs. My baby was 5 months old and people assumed it was just baby weight but actually I was 11st12lbs when I conceived so it really wasn't her fault at all! I got my 1 stone certificate pretty quickly but have arsed about for a couple of months so the following half a stone has taken a while to come off. I have another half stone to go to target (although I may adjust this down another half stone when I get there). I wasn't able to weigh in last week as we were at the inlaws so I am not 100% sure of the Christmas damage but my own scales suggest it won't be pretty. Ah well I regret nothing! I owned the choice to pig out on cheese and wine for a fortnight and I know I can get it back under control now! I'm veggie and try to base as much of my meals around free foods and healthy extras as I can with Syns being used for drinks/snacks. I'm breastfeeding so I get additional healthy extras which I usually spend on cheese.

First day back on the wagon and my first day back in work after mat leave sob sob

B - Porridge HeA and HeB plus raisins (4 Syns)
L - left my stir fry in the fridge at home Hmm but the canteen came up trumps - baked potato, beans, side salad (no dressing) and an apple
S - mug shot, quorn sausages, 2 x Babybel (HeA), lindor ball Blush (4 Syns)
D - free curry flavour savoury rice, SW sweet potato curry

8 Syns - not too bad! Might have another lindor ball.... Or an options hot choc Smile

Overnight oats in the fridge for breakfast and an additional portion of the curry and rice I had for dinner is boxed up for lunch.
