A brand new thread for 2016.....:)

For old and new members alike....please join in and post food plans, meal ideas, how you use syns, weight losses and gains, how you feel.

I started exactly a year ago on 4 January 2015.
I weighed 14st 3lbs and was a size 16. Bloated and uncomfortable, I was mortified when I saw the scales.
In week 1, I lost 9lbs which has motivated me ever since.
I currently weigh 11st 3.5lbs and just missed my 3 stone certificate at Xmas. Put on 2lbs last week and not really expecting a loss this week but I want to get to 11 stone and then re set my target to 10 stone 7lbs.

I have gone down to a comfortable size 12 and even wore a size 10 Fat Face dress yesterday.

So, let's do this.

I feel quite excited. SW has definitely changed my life......:)

Signed up on line yesterday - never been heavier and seem to have found my motivation at last!!!! I really want to make it work this time, I'm doing it for me and not because others want me to IYKWIM it's going to be a long haul though as I need to shift 6 stone.

My first goal is 1 stone.

I'm a good cook and looking forward to making tasty meals, my dh has started a new job working away Mon - Fri so I can really focus on eating well during the week and plan ahead for the weekends.

My weaknesses are crisps, cheese and bread. Don't really have a sweet tooth but can be an emotional eater and will reach for the chocolate!

Hello allSmile

Buttwing · 04/01/2016 13:06

Duh hit post my mistake!

I joined sw just over a year ago after having dc4 and have lost 3 stone 10lbs (will ignore the 5lb Xmas gain!) I am going to lose 5 stone on total and I'm feeling motivated to get cracking as for the last couple of months I've not been losing as quickly as I'd like, which is totally my fault.

Losing 5 stone will take me down to 9 stone 10 which is what I was before having my last two babies. I'm now comfortably in size 12s I'm not really sur what size I was when I started as I was still in maternity clothes but probably an 18/20.

B- fruit and coffee

L- chicken, bacon, veg cous cous and edamame bean salad fruit salad and yogurt

D-gammon,egg,chips and peas

Hea-skimmed milk
Heb-2 hifis

ThoughtfulPenny · 04/01/2016 13:25

I'm in 13stone 1lb, bigger than I was 40 weeks pregnant with my children. Couldn't make the meeting id intended this morning but I know the basics so have started today regardless. I have to do this.

Chelsea26 · 04/01/2016 13:33

Hello everyone!

I recently started back on Slimming World and am enjoying it, however work is really busy at the moment and that is what let me down before, not being organised/having any time and then going off plan…

So I came up with a plan and yesterday I made 3 breakfasts and 5 lunches in under half an hour!

Basically stuck some lentil and veg soup onto cook (pack of frozen casserole veg, lentils, rice, herbs and spices and stock)

While that was happening I made 3 portions of overnight oats (oats, vanilla muller and frozen raspberries mixed together) can keep for up to 3 days if made in glass jars so on wednesday eve I will make up 2 more...

then made some hummous (1 syn per portion) and chopped and portioned up carrot and cherry tomatoes

then blended and portioned out the soup.

This morning I grabbed 3 things from the fridge and came to work - so easy and feel like this is manageable

I know some people wont be happy with eating the same lunch for 5 days but for 30 mins work I can cope!

B - overnight oats
S - satsuma
L - Soup and carrots/toms with hummous
S - apple
D - Korean spicy rice bowl with steak and a fried egg

I started Slimming world on the 14th November - the week after my 30th birthday. I've been miserable about my weight for some time - but specifically since summer. However it took some photographs at October half term / Halloween and then my birthday to force my hand to take action. Confused

On the 14th November I weighed in at a massive 19 STONE 11.5 POUNDS. Blush

Week one I lost 6.5, and continued with weight loss each week.

In these first 7 weeks I've lost 29lbs taking me to 17s 10.5lb.

This month I'll be doing dry January and aiming to do couch to 5k (I've downloaded the app and have done day 1&2). I'm currently walking around 10,000 steps a day (monitored through my Jawbone Fit Band). At the start of this two months ago walking a mile nearly killed me, I can now walk 4-5 without thinking about it. Largely waking / doing couch to 5k at night after kids in bed Smile

Today:
B: melon, Apple, peppermint tea

L: home made chicken soup (slimming world recipe), 2 Wholemeal bread (HexB) and ham slices.

Not sure what I'm doing for dinner tonight yet. Either salmon, race and veg or Jacket potato, beans and salad. See what the kids and other half are in the mood for Hmm

Trottersindependenttraders · 04/01/2016 13:44

Hi all, can I join in too? Joining a new group tonight. I need to lose at least 2 stones, I'm the heaviest I've been and put on the weight I lost on SW a couple of years ago, none of my clothes fit properly now. Also doing dry January and C25K in an effort to be healthier all round.

I struggle with lunches more than anything so will be watching the thread for ideas.

Ateacup I think you are my inspiration with your running! I've just started C25k in the hope it will make me into a runner, judging by my attempt at r1 - that seems a long way off!

2016, let's do this!

FannyFanakapan · 04/01/2016 14:01

Hello, I started with Calzone in January last year, weighing 16st 12lb - my heaviest weight ever.

Im currently 12.5.5, which is just off 4st7lb loss. I started at a very dubious size 20 (probably more a 22) and now comfortable at at 16.

Aiming to get to a size 12 by summer, down to 10st5lb target.

Im actually very motivated this week, having not gained over Christmas. This has done wonders for my self esteem because part of me was expecting to walk back in with a massive gain that would set me back months. I was evidently making some good choices, and managed to claw back in the 5 days between coming home and getting weighed!

Bang on track this week, and hurrah, they will all be back at school /work tomorrow!

knowler · 04/01/2016 14:16

hello all, I started on 1 December at 17st2, my heaviest ever. Pre-Christmas I'd lost 11lbs, put 1.5 on over xmas and I suspect i'm going to have another small gain tomorrow. Not too mortified though, and back on it wholeheartedly now :)

I've recently done the couch to 5k and I was a genuine couch (!) when I started. i'd literally never run more than 30secs, even when I was at school. After 8 weeks, I did 5km in 44 mins and a 30min jog is a breeze :) It's genuinely changed my life. I'm working on doing a quicker 5km and have signed up for a 10k in May!!

Heyheyheygoodbye · 04/01/2016 14:29

Found you Grin

Back on it now! Going to PIL's for dinner tomorrow but MIL is on it too and will making a SW meal, hooray!

emmaluvseeyore · 04/01/2016 14:41

I forgot to say that I am now a comfortable 20/22 (down from a 24/26). I loved going sales shopping and being able to shop for tops in normal stores! I even had a choice!!!

I'm going to South Korea with Girlguiding in the summer, so I'm aiming to be a lot fitter and smaller by then. I don't want to put a number on it because I'll be disappointed if I don't reach that number by then. I went to Japan in Summer 2014 and really struggled with the heat and humidity because of my weight. I'm hoping to see a huge difference!

PinkSmiles · 04/01/2016 14:43

Emma wow get you!! What an amazing opportunity! Where do you do guiding? I'm a rainbow leader in Coventry

OrianaBanana · 04/01/2016 16:02

Hello everyone! [waves]

I've been at SW since March, when I was 12 stone 8. I'd been 'dieting' for years and yet slowly gaining weight, I thought enough was enough and though I'm not a clappy groups person I thought it might give me the motivation I needed. There was a TV programme around too which said that emotional eaters should seek group support. I had a friend on it who was doing the old green/red plan and I liked the sound of the complicated rules, to keep me interested!

It was Extra Easy when I joined though and I love it - I have made friends at the group and I'm on the social team so I don't have to hang around talking to people beforehand Blush. I love my consultant so I like to help out.

Just before Christmas I got my 1.5 stone award - a bit rubbish for 9 months but I don't do well at all with temptation and very often prat about gaining and losing the same pound for weeks. I like the fact I know I can get to goal eventually!

My initial goal is 10 stone, so 2 stone 8 off. Eventually I'd like to get to bang in the middle of a normal BMI for me which I think is around 9 stone 4 so 3 stone 4 off my original weight. Grin I know I will get there. Eventually.

OrianaBanana · 04/01/2016 16:09

Wow that was long. Hmm

Today:

B - 2 hifi lights (HExB) satsuma, coffee with HExA milk
L - speed veg and lentil soup (2 syns for olive oil), apple, grapes
D - roast chicken, boiled potatoes and speed veg, 1 syn for gravy, 4.5 for muller bliss (love them)

S - nectarine, satsuma, cadburys snack half (2.5), popcorn (4.5)

So 14.5 syns today - I always use all of my syns (if I'm below 15 that's a victory Blush).

ateacupofgin · 04/01/2016 16:35

Flopis I am in an awful work situation verging on bullying and the objections at my food is the latest in a long line of shit I've had to work through.

It's ridiculous that people are offended at the munching of an apple or the smell of cucumber... And I point out regularly that a pastie/sausage sarnie smells far worse at 10am!

But after 2 yrs of struggling SW is really helping me maintain control and I am able to stand firm in my choices...most of the time Wink

alleypalley · 04/01/2016 16:41

I'm feeling very hungry today for some reason, have stuck to plan but snacking more than I would like. So far I've had

B - raspberry, banana & kale smoothie

L - leek & mushroom omelette with tuna mayo, cucumber & tomato.

D - dh has made. SW friendly chilli which I'll have with rice and extra veg.

I've also had 2 satsumas and and apple, and just now finished off the rest of the tuna mayo that was left over from lunch.

knowler, which 10k are you doing? I've just signed up for the London 10,000 at the end of May. I've not been able to run for the last 6 weeks though due to having an operation on my foot, and it will be at least 6 more weeks before I can start again so I'll be a bit short on training.

ateacupofgin · 04/01/2016 16:44

Aww thanks Trotters - you can do it too!!!!! And the weeks when I've had too many syns yhd extra body magic keeps the damage down.

I have been also logging runs on mapmyrun since the v start. I am slow (but that's good for fat burning lol) but looking back through them has made me realise how far I've come. Believe me I am renowned for running to the bar...

Ledkr · 04/01/2016 16:52

Can any of you veterans suggest low syn snacks for the evening?
I like a few sweets or a bit of popcorn to munch on.
Also I struggle after school pick up on non work days. I make a cuppa and get a huge cake craving.

Florabella22 · 04/01/2016 16:55

I joined last Weds with my DP. Having previously lost and gained back 7 yes seven! stones. Walking back into class was one of the hardest things to do but I did it with the support of my wonderful DP. My previous loss was at a time when my EXH was in the throws of a midlife crisis and I'd convinced myself that losing a shedload of weight would be the way to make him stay. How wrong was I?!
I'm now losing weight for my wedding although my DP would be happy if I didn't lose a pound. We've done a meal planner for the week, bought the food and are supporting each other as much as possible. I feel positive and in control, I know SW works, it's a brilliant plan. Good luck every one x

ZylaB · 04/01/2016 16:56

Hi,

I joined SW at the end of July weighing 14st 8lb, but I had lost half a stone before joining so real starting weight was 15st 1lb in June.

Weighed in today and was 11st 12, I lost 4.5lb this week (need to lose 1.5lb more to make back the 6lb my Christmas holiday put on me).

I think my target is 10st 7lb, but now it's getting close im wondering..will decide a bit closer to the time. Calzone, I see that's your target, how tall are you?

PrivatePollyPerks · 04/01/2016 16:56

urgh... just had a root canal done :( really need a junk food fix for self pity purposes, but i'm being good and having jacket spud (no butter), beans and salad instead. would really like the feeling back in my face though.

LaurieFairyCake · 04/01/2016 17:00

Ledkr - I like cheese and biscuits in the evening. Rakkusens crackers are one syn each. I butter 3 with marmite and slice babybel lights onto them (hexa) - top with sliced cherry tomatoes

ZylaB · 04/01/2016 17:09

ledkr I save most of my syns for sweets in the evening! How about sw quiche with veggies in it, either hot or cold, veggie soup, both would be free. Or if you want something sweet, mix quark with some sweetener and a options hot choc sachet for a mousse like dessert for 2 syns - I've had these and they're not bad, especially with some raspberries in them. You can have popcorn, some small bags are only 5 or 6 syns..just check online :)

OrianaBanana · 04/01/2016 17:37

If I can manage to save syns for the evening, pufts or pops are lovely and relatively low syn. I also like gnawing on chicken legs (free) and eating smoked salmon or ham. Or fun size chocolates if you like sweet things. Or hifi bars of course Wink

calzone · 04/01/2016 17:38

Zyla.....I am 5ft 6'.....

B....porridge with Mullerlight and tangerines
L....soup
2 egg omelette with sweetened quark, banana

D.....savoury rice and chicken
