A brand new thread for 2016.....:)

For old and new members alike....please join in and post food plans, meal ideas, how you use syns, weight losses and gains, how you feel.

I started exactly a year ago on 4 January 2015.
I weighed 14st 3lbs and was a size 16. Bloated and uncomfortable, I was mortified when I saw the scales.
In week 1, I lost 9lbs which has motivated me ever since.
I currently weigh 11st 3.5lbs and just missed my 3 stone certificate at Xmas. Put on 2lbs last week and not really expecting a loss this week but I want to get to 11 stone and then re set my target to 10 stone 7lbs.

I have gone down to a comfortable size 12 and even wore a size 10 Fat Face dress yesterday.

So, let's do this.

I feel quite excited. SW has definitely changed my life......:)

I am the same, puppy. Very hard day yesterday so I binged on wheaten loaf and didn't have any dinner. I face the scales tonight.

Sometime my head is in it and sometimes not, but do keep jumping back on the wagon! Eventually you will stay there for quite a while and it will be a habit (hopefully this will happen to me too). And if not calzone will wave her stick at you Smile

Group support is great for emotional eaters so do get advice from the group to help. Maybe a food diary? x

puppydogmummy · 20/01/2016 08:58

Thanx banana and bendy you are both right, and a food diary sounds good plan ... Here we go onwards and upwards ( or hopefully downwards)

This thread is moving fast!

I had a good day on Monday but not so good yesterday. I had Weetabix for breakfast and it set me craving crap - always does so not sure why I had it! Won't make that mistake again.

On Monday I made the Singapore Noodles from the current SW magazine. Really tasty but noodles leave me feeling hungry an hour later. Reined it in on Monday night and just had a muller light and a big glass of water and went to bed. Had leftovers for lunch yesterday and again was hungry an hour later. Lesson learned. No Weetabix and no noodles! Will make the Singapore noodles again but use brown rice instead of noodles I think.

Dinner last night was the Steak Hotpot also from the current SW magazine. Nice and got a vote of confidence from DH.

Tonight I'm doing the Greek lamb and feta from the magazine.

Aiming for a good day today and tomorrow. I should be weighing on Friday but am going to Budapest for the weekend for a friend's 50th. There will be lots of friends and lots of food and wine. I will weigh at home Friday morning but not expecting a great loss. Will start properly on Monday.

With regard to weighing at home between weigh ins. I do all the time. Most days. When I'm doing it all properly that is. I find it keeps me on track. I weigh at the same time every day - first thing in the morning after a wee. So it's a reasonable record. Don't see the point in weighing after I've eaten anything or later in the day.

Akire · 20/01/2016 11:13

First week weighed put ON a pound! Ok so the first 2/3 days I was quite excited about being allowed to eat carbs and didn't do the strictly 1/3 veg thing but feeling bit sad!

Going give it dam good go this week and hopefully see a difference but considering the fat and sugar I normal would eat I have been much better! Plus was TOTM last week so normally I would expect to lose 1-2lb just from extra bloating!

HackAttack · 20/01/2016 11:33

Can I join? I've been doing slimming world for a couple of years now with a second child shaped rest in the middle.

I actually started slimming nearly five years ago weighing in at 17 stone 1, joined weight watchers trying to lose weight to conceive. I'd been overweight since childhood so it was my first ever time focusing on healthy eating. I lost 47 lbs and got pregnant with my first, put three stone back on, lost it and a bit extra quite quickly with SW this time. I then got unexpectedly pregnant with my second, only gained a stone with that pregnancy.

I'm down to 12 stone 9 now, back at SW and determined to get to target this year as hubby has had the snip so no more babies!

I'm having a pretty good week, I had quesadillas (my own recipe, syn free) with butternut squash chips last night and it was really nice.

DesertIslandPenguin · 20/01/2016 12:50

Terrible week last week, but managed to shave off half a pound despite going way over my syns every day. Trying to refocus myself and find healthy distractions for when I feel munchy.

Roasting up a huge tray of speed veg for roast veggie couscous. It's a huge roasting tray so it should do a few days worth of lunches. Also popped in some slimming world sausages to do the BBQ bean and sausage bowl from the latest mag. Mildly annoyed that the recipe calls for 8 sausagesbut it's sold in packets of 6. It's got loads of beans in it, so I doubt anyone will notice!

EmilyK83 · 20/01/2016 13:29

Well done on losses Bendy and Desert!

Today:

B - a pear and a satsuma, plus peppermint tea

L - random combination of stuff from the fridge and cupboards. Spinach, mushrooms and onion all cooked up together, with a salad of lettuce and radishes, a small tin of baked beans and some chicken.

D - I'm off out for review a restaurant tonight, but will try and be sensible :-/

EmilyK83 · 20/01/2016 13:29
  • to review. Oops.
BendydickCuminsnatch · 20/01/2016 13:30

Just made this lovely speed quiche Smile I've eaten half of it and I doubled the recipe... Shock so I used 6 eggs. I spose that's not too bad then, I'd do a 3-egg omelette if I was making one. It's delish! I'm having a hungry day though.

OrianaBanana · 20/01/2016 14:15

Well I've had a bad week and weigh in is tonight so I'm having a 'light' day (until after weigh in!) in the hopes that it might make a difference between a gain and a maintain.. Blush

B - yoghurt, coffee with HExA milk (allowance used in drinks throughout day)
L - mug shot, pear, satsuma
weigh in
D - pasta bolognese with lots of added veg, salad

S - smoked salmon, apple, hifi (HExB)

BendydickCuminsnatch · 20/01/2016 14:27

Speed day! I am actually loving them due to the double dose of HExB:

B: 2.5 weetabix (HExB + 1.5 syns), milk (HExA), melon and apple
L: speed quiche and salad (well, lettuce)
Sn: toast with marmite (HExB)
D: courgetti, cauliflower white sauce, veg, chicken if I can find some in the freezer
Sn: 25g dark chocolate which I am verrrry excited about (9.5 syns), strawberry muller corner (4.5 syns)
Drinks: loads of tea, coffee, squash. Not enough water.

So I'll be half a syn over but never mind. Ooh no maybe I'm feeling a bit cocky after my loss!

Pisghetti · 20/01/2016 14:31

B - chickpea eggah, apple
S - yogurt
L - baked potato with chickpea dahl and salad and cheese HeA
S - 2 x hifi bars HeB
D - pastitso if I can get out to buy fromage frais

Baby got sent home from nursery sick so I'm working from home and trying not to think of raiding the cupboards....

WineAndIntrigue · 20/01/2016 14:40

Afternoon everyone! Menu change from last night to Slimming World mushroom pappardelle which was absolutely delicious - highly recommend.

Food diary for today:
B - baked oats (these need lots more sweetener next time I make them, but I was substituting for sugar so I scrimped)
L - salad, balsamic vinegar, chicken, two egg muffins
D - leftover pasta/omelette and chips - I can't decide
Snacks - banana

BendydickCuminsnatch · 20/01/2016 14:52

Oh yeah I also polished off rest of the baby's dhal which was going to go off 😄 Free though!

Slimmingmumoftwo · 20/01/2016 15:11

Hi,
Since leaving university 5 years ago, my weight has slowly piled on.
I gave birth to my second child 8 weeks ago, and weigh a horrible 12St 3 lbs (I'm only 5"1 height!).
I started slimming world on Monday so it's only my third day but I'm feeling confident.

Anyone have any tips for successful weight loss? 😊

I ideally want to loose 3 stone to be in the healthy range again

Thank you! 😊 xx

emwithme · 20/01/2016 15:15

I am a good girl and deserve a Star because I went for my smear test today (on schedule for once).

Brunch: Bacon, omelette, beans, mushrooms, tomato. Tassimo cappuccino (2 syns)
Snack: Satsumas (I think I am going to turn into a satsuma soon, the amount I'm eating)
Dinner: SW burger, sweet potato wedges and salad. HEA cheese on burger.
Snack: Hifi bars.

I'm thinking of making a soup this afternoon, I've got a butternut squash and some courgettes to use up.

deli1976 · 20/01/2016 15:15

BendydickCuminsnatch ive just done a quiche this afternoon aswell.i added onion cottage cheese, 3 eggs and a tin of red salmon its delish.

Slimmingmumoftwo · 20/01/2016 15:26

Mine today is:
B: alpes light cereal bar (hex)
L: pasta, tuna, cheese (hex), peppers, lettuce, onion, sweetcorn, cucumber, carrot and a level tbsp extra light mayo (1 syn)
S: small milky bar chocolate (3.5 syns)
D: salt and pepper chicken, rice and stir fry veg. (Slimming world recipe)

Does this sound ok?
I'm not a big fruit eater but like lots of veg 😊

WingDefence · 20/01/2016 15:38

I'm also a newbie to SW and joined on Monday. Think I understand the plan but looking forward to getting lots of family-friendly ideas from here.
Starting weight 12 stone 4. Aiming to lose two stone. Blush

BendydickCuminsnatch · 20/01/2016 15:53

deli sounds delish! Didn't think of salmon, I've got to try that!

mutley1 · 20/01/2016 17:14

Thatslife72 · 23/01/2016 10:10

Oh so nice to read this thread, I've always been a skinny mini so never dieted however now at 42 and been put on medication my weight went up and I hated myself on holiday last year yuk! I felt so self conscious and I felt I looked fat in all the photos. I'm 5ft 7 and weigh 11 stone so I haven't got a lot to loose but I'm finding it really difficult. I've reading up on all the fee foods but I only lost a lb on the first week but it's because I went to a Thai restaurant the first week and I regrettably ended up at macdonalds to have a breakfast and even though I said I wasn't having anything , I felt I should stupid really! So good I lost a lb but disappointed too. I'm really trying this week lots of free food been eaten so surprised what is classed as free, like pasta I love pasta. I really hope this works I don't want to be a whale on the beach in August . Did anyone else struggle at first? I just read about people having a big weight loss the first week, I don't think that will ever happen to me 😞

Akire · 23/01/2016 12:01

I put on a pound in my first week but everyone says that's really unusual (go me!) trying really hard as think probable did go bit carb high but they are on the plan!

I'm like you I've always been 9.5 over last few years crept up to 11.3. Been trying lose last 2y but just bounce between 10.10-11.3. Like you say it's not huge amount compared to most people but it's just not me.
