A brand new thread for 2016.....:)

For old and new members alike....please join in and post food plans, meal ideas, how you use syns, weight losses and gains, how you feel.

I started exactly a year ago on 4 January 2015.
I weighed 14st 3lbs and was a size 16. Bloated and uncomfortable, I was mortified when I saw the scales.
In week 1, I lost 9lbs which has motivated me ever since.
I currently weigh 11st 3.5lbs and just missed my 3 stone certificate at Xmas. Put on 2lbs last week and not really expecting a loss this week but I want to get to 11 stone and then re set my target to 10 stone 7lbs.

I have gone down to a comfortable size 12 and even wore a size 10 Fat Face dress yesterday.

So, let's do this.

I feel quite excited. SW has definitely changed my life......:)

Some great stories here

I'm back on today after a 7 pound December gain. I lost two stone last year and kept it off and started a new job in September - still kept it off until I got a horrible cold in December

Now returning to lose the half stone I've put on and my new target this year of an extra two stone.

Unfortunately I can't get to group because of work so I'm going to be using this thread for ideas.

Today's food - breakfast at 11 ish - hexb toast and one teaspoon peanut butter (2 syns)

Lunch - baked potato, cottage cheese, tomatoes, salad

Dinner - rice and chilli

Banana/satsumas/muller light extras

Sirzy · 04/01/2016 07:54

I joined sw in June have lost 2 stone and need to lose around another stone to get to target. I am fitting into size 10 which is amazing (had lost a lot of weight pre Sw but it started going back on hence joining but was a 20 at my biggest)

I have a countdown which runs out in the next couple of weeks so think I will do another countdown after that then call target!

Howlongtillbedtime · 04/01/2016 08:04

Morning all , I have just done the dreaded first weigh in and I am tipping the scales at 14.3 which is grim but I am ready to kick its ( and mine) arse !

calzone and all I would love any tips you know that help , I am not able to get to a group but I do have all the bumf and I do have a friend who is a consultant but I need all the help I can get .

I am going off for a read of the old thread now .....

blondiep14 · 04/01/2016 08:07

Ah, there you all are Smile

overitalready · 04/01/2016 08:17

For those that dont go to group (like me) the internet is your best friend.

Google everything, buy books / mags/ find people on twitter/instagram/facebook etc

Follow this thread. Read old and new threads

Make sure you weigh yourself at the same time every week and note it down

Hay135 · 04/01/2016 08:31

I joined Sw end of November and weighed 12 stone 1 1/2 lbs and was a size 16 and felt awful. I'm 1/2 off my stone award (fingers crossed for tonight but I wasn't good NYE but I've tried to make up for it) and fit into a size 12 Smile
I'm determined to get my 2 stone award for my 30th end of March I'm focused on sticking to plan.
Actually shocked that it hasn't been that hard I've done weight watches in the past but I find Sw 100% better, easier to follow and stick to.
I have so much more energy and feel like the old me I've been wondering where she'd gone which is keeping me motivated Grin

Stellar67 · 04/01/2016 08:32

Found you. I start my 12 week countdown tomorrow.
Shock

calzone · 04/01/2016 08:34

Howlong......I have surrounded myself with all things SW.

On FB, IG, on here, I buy the magazine. It keeps me motivated and I love seeing transformation photos......

Also, I bought a 12 week countdown which I knew would take me over Xmas. I joined the social team as well which I know isn't for everyone but makes me go every week.

Have just eaten a bowl porridge with a Mullerlight tipped over it. Was delicious......Mullerlights are a bit controversial on SW but I like them!

OP posts:
KittyOShea · 04/01/2016 08:41

B- porridge with fruit yoghurt and cinnamon
L- potato and leek soup, fruit
D- prawn and crab linguine

That's today's plan. Back at work Sad so will definitely stick to the first two...

I'm not a fan of muller lights but love the activia 0% yoghurts which are also free. The peach ones are gorgeous in porridge with a pinch of cinnamon.

Howlongtillbedtime · 04/01/2016 08:43

Thanks calzone , that's my plan , I have got the magazine and I have been googling recipes for the week . fitbit is on charge after being in a drawer for a couple of months . shopping today for good food .

The only thing I am not sure about ( for noiw anyway ) is how many syns I should be having ? It says five to fifteen so do most people do ten ?

Off to have eggs for breakfast now .

Ledkr · 04/01/2016 08:55

Slopes onto yet another thread and throws self into armchair.

I'm in. Can no longer pretend I'm not fat!
I'm the heaviest ever and need to lose around 2 stones.
I have a broken arm so can't excercise much but cannot drive so will be walking the school runs.
I've never had much sucess with SW largely because I don't stick to it for long but it does look like the most realistic way of eating for me.

ateacupofgin · 04/01/2016 09:11

Hi everyone!

I wish I had seen the support thread 45 weeks ago when I started! The day before my birthday I was 12s4lb, I am 5'1" and could not walk up a hill without stopping at least twice and utterly miserable. I had gained more than 2 stone gradually over 2 years, the culprit being returning to FT work to an office of sugar bitches who snack constantly and bake daily cakes. So after checking out online options I hauled my arse to a weekend class as it was the last day of a free sign up offer. I didn't want another year of being the fat mum on the beach...

It's been a slow journey for me as 2015 was incredibly stressful and my old friend wine has taken all my Syns. But I started C25K in March, could not run the minute even on flat ground (I live in hilly SW) but within 7 months I could run 6 miles with just a few walk rests. I now run 7-8 miles at the weekend, 3m twice a week and am chuffed to bits that I've entered a half marathon later this year.

I weigh 10s5 so still a way off target and a healthy BMI but I've lost 2-3 dress sizes and feel more positive about myself than I have done in years. I tried many groups and failed but struck gold with this one. Like Calzone I've joined the social team and I've made some lovely friends. I also wore a size 12 dress at Xmas.... Best present EVER!

I am glad to see a few dry January's on this thread - I want Syns this year for ingredients not wine. I am banned from eating fruit at my desk (yes really, my boss told me to just be normal and eat a biscuit like everybody else) so it's another year of omelette and sugar snap pea snacks for me.

I've really enjoyed reading the support thread over Xmas, I am really spurred on - and will hopefully not need the big stick being shaken at me! Onwards and downwards ladies SmileSmile

Today:
B Toast HEb, marmite, cherry toms, hb egg
L. Chicken curry using turkey recipe from this months mag - seriously the best new curry recipe I've made in a long time
D stir fry, lots of speed veg, 4 Syns peanut butter, HEA haloumi

Syns hifi lite, Elmlea single in my coffee,
Drinks I have a jug of water with lemon and cucumber in it, tonight it will be fizzy water and angustorra bitters. No. More. Wine!

ateacupofgin · 04/01/2016 09:12

Good grief that was much longer than intended, sorry folks!

wonkylampshade · 04/01/2016 09:26

I joined in November and started at 12.9, however I have completely fallen off the wagon after losing 7lbs. I'm making a big effort this week and next and trying to focus on so meals for the next fortnight to kick start the new year.

I'm also going to go for a brisk walk at least once a day - just a mile, but it's a start as I had a baby just over a year ago and have got into the bad habit of staying in the house trying (and often failing) to keep on top of all the housework and washing!

I find the success of my day really depends on what I start off with for breakfast - have fallen into old habits of toast with egg or jam over the Christmas break, so today I'm having cereal with fruit and yoghurt. Nice ham or chicken breast with mixed salad and pickled things for lunch, and tuna steak with courgette / carrot spaghetti done with ginger, soy, chilli and lime.

wonkylampshade · 04/01/2016 09:36

Actually my 8yr old has asked for a cooked brekky so I will be having bacon, eggs and beans instead. Grin

FlopIsMyChristmasGuru · 04/01/2016 09:37

ateacupofgin how on earth can your boss ban you from eating fruit at your desk when others are allowed to eat at their desks?!

I'd be demanding the heathy version if cigarette breaks and going to eat an apple in the fresh (January!) air!

BasinHaircut · 04/01/2016 09:39

Ohh this is what I need!

Starting SW today (got the books but not joining) as I am heavier than when I gave birth 2 and a half years ago!

I'm dragging DH along for the ride too as we have both fallen into really bad habits in the past couple of years.

I need to lose 19lbs (I'm 12st 1lb, want to get down to 10st 10lbs) and DH about 3stones (he is 16st 1lb) but he doesn't really have a target.

I have meal planned and shopped for the week, and I made soup last night that we are both having for lunch today (leek and potato).

I've just had 2 weetabix with skimmed milk and a cuppa.

Dinner will be beef kheema and saag aloo, that will also be tomorrow's lunch.

FlopIsMyChristmasGuru · 04/01/2016 09:45

Congrats on statting basin that's what I love about the flexibility of SW - being able to have leftovers for lunch Grin

BasinHaircut · 04/01/2016 09:58

If I couldn't have leftovers for lunch if be buggered on work days!

Just wondering what other things people are eating for lunch though? I will always have my healthy extras for breakfast (weetabix or porridge) so can't really do anything bread-based. I've got plenty of salad stuff in the fridge but I do get bored of salad quite quickly!

WineAndIntrigue · 04/01/2016 10:02

Morning everyone. Hope you don't mind if I join. I started SW in early November, stuck to it...stuck to it...then Christmas happened, I've thrown myself off the wagon and I'm back where I started. Totally my fault, but I'm still feeling surprisingly motivated which is unlike me.

I also started a SW Instagram account back in November, which I love and which is helping to keep me motivated - would highly recommend starting one!

So, I currently weigh 12st7lbs. Am 5"5/5"6. Target is 9st.

January goals:

  • Lay off the booze. I've got one event coming up where I want to drink, but not til the end of the month so I'm going to try and lay off completely til then.
  • On plan every day.
  • Gym x3 per week (I go before work and I usually enjoy it so no excuses!)
FlopIsMyChristmasGuru · 04/01/2016 10:18

basin I am a big fan of soup, but find if it's just vegetables then I get hungry fairly soon.
So I usually do a mix of stock (cube not fresh) veg according to what's left in fridge, leftover gammon it chicken and then lentils or noodles or pearl barley or rice.
Cook up a batch and freeze in portions to eat over the week.

emmaluvseeyore · 04/01/2016 11:26

Morning everyone and hello to all the newbies. I started at 129.9 kg (20 st 6 lbs) and a size 24/26 (my lower half is a size bigger than the top) back in April. I weighed in this morning and I am now 110.8 kg (17 st 6 lbs). I am really pleased though because I only put on 100 g over the Christmas/NY period! My plan for the next month is to go back to basics with SW again as I haven't really lost much over the last couple of months. I also want to add in another session of exercise. I took up tap dancing in September and absolutely love it. My teacher also runs FitSteps so I'm going to join her class. Longer term, I want to add in a 3rd class or do some exercise daily. I have to be careful though because I'm recovering from low mood and my counselling has taught me not to try and do too much of anything at once as I then end up disappointed when I can't stick to it.

Plan for today:
B: bran flakes (heB), milk (1/2 heA), clementine, lemon squash
L: tomato soup (4), babybel (1/2 heA), tomatoes, diet coke
D: not sure yet
Snacks: apple, mushrooms, yoghurt (1), ham

KittyOShea · 04/01/2016 11:36

Basin I am also a big soup fan and then fill up with some fruit.

If I've had eggs that morning for breakfast I'll often have ryvita with tinned salmon and Mayo with cucumber on top or laughing cow and banana. Ryvita is fairly low syn too even if I have had porridge that morning.

backinschool · 04/01/2016 12:03

Well I only lost 0.5lb this week but I wasn't convinced by my 3lbs off last week (weighed in at a different group) so I'm happy with 3.5lb off over the hols. I'm 13st 0.5lb now so fingers crossed for 12st something next week. Dashing off to make lunch for DD but I'll be back to comment properly later.

Solina · 04/01/2016 12:15

B - 2 slices of wholemeal toast (hxb), butter (4s), 2 eggs, cucumber.
S - Carrot sticks
L - spag bolognese leftovers with baked beans added so I would have enough sauce for lunch today
S - apple
D - salmon, mash (hxa), broccoli, carrots.

Feeling hungry as first day back at work. I made some carrot and sweet potato soup with garlic and parsley yesterday for lunch this week. Will have 2 lunches from it. I thought I need to prep or I will crumble and have a massive baguette or something!

Looking forward to the scale tomorrow!
