A brand new thread for 2016.....:)

For old and new members alike....please join in and post food plans, meal ideas, how you use syns, weight losses and gains, how you feel.

I started exactly a year ago on 4 January 2015.
I weighed 14st 3lbs and was a size 16. Bloated and uncomfortable, I was mortified when I saw the scales.
In week 1, I lost 9lbs which has motivated me ever since.
I currently weigh 11st 3.5lbs and just missed my 3 stone certificate at Xmas. Put on 2lbs last week and not really expecting a loss this week but I want to get to 11 stone and then re set my target to 10 stone 7lbs.

I have gone down to a comfortable size 12 and even wore a size 10 Fat Face dress yesterday.

So, let's do this.

I feel quite excited. SW has definitely changed my life......:)

Well done Carrie!

Back on it after carrot cake earlier! Bit of an experiment, but it's really nice! Turkey mince cooked with green peppers, onions, mushrooms, spinach, garlic, Chinese five spice, chillies, soy sauce and lemon juice - plus rice and salad!

That looks nice calzone, recipe please?!

calzone · 19/01/2016 20:51

Make a big batch of tomato sauce. (Using other half for meatballs tomorrow.

Partly pan fry chicken breasts and wrap in ham.

I then layered dish with cooked aubergines , placed chicken on top, covered with tomato sauce and added grated cheese. Baked for 20 minutes in oven.

Okay, I've just had a bit of a giggle..

I've never had quark in my life, and not entirely sure of how to use it. I have just had this conversation..

Me: do you know what quark is?
DH: (in a serious, questioning kind of voice) the noise a posh duck makes?

Seriously though, I see a lot of recipes with quark. What does it taste of? Is it used as a sort of dairy substitute?

maygirl · 19/01/2016 23:13

So many ideas to try on this thread!
Today B beans and spinach on heB toast, some orange
L omelette made last night with mushrooms, spinach, onion, heA cheese. Tomatoes .Apple
D roast chicken, celariac and cauliflower mashed with quark, brocolli and carrots. gravy 1 syn. Orange
Milk in coffees 2 syns , bit chocolate 5 syns. Looks like it was an SP day today. Weigh in tomorrow.

maygirl · 19/01/2016 23:28

Grin posh ducks! Quark tastes like yogurty soft cheese to me, it's quite filling and used in SW recipes to make things creamy without adding fat

Oh and overnight weight loss must be due to sweating!!!

annatha · 19/01/2016 23:31

I have no will power. We went to Nandos today and I was all for getting a chicken salad. I get my phone to start checking syns and dh starts going on about it being daft to pay that much for leaves and to have a treat so I ended up with a chicken burger, and splitting chips, rice and mash with him. Tried counting the syns but stopped when I reached 20. Why can't I just say no? Although yesterday my dad was practically begging me to have something from Gregg's with him and moaning when I came out with a fruit pot. Its much easier to follow plan when I'm just at home alone with the kids.

emwithme · 19/01/2016 23:45

annatha next time you go, get a butterfly chicken breast which is 3 syns. A spicy rice is 2 syns for the small portion and a macho peas is 3 1/2. Corn is free as long as you don't add the pat of butter. Side salad comes undressed so that's free too.

Not that I go to Nandos often. No. Not me Blush

oneowlgirl · 19/01/2016 23:48

That's good to know Em.

deli1976 · 20/01/2016 00:02

29.5 syns in COSTA for a slice of lemon cake, i was kicking myself for not checking before eating!!@@ it put me way off track for rest of the night all cause of just one blip, but today back on plan.3rd weigh in thur,8.5 lost so far

annatha · 20/01/2016 00:59

Thanks em, its good to see there's a lot of options there. We went to nandos instead of elsewhere because I'd heard people at group mention the low syn options, I just don't get why I can't just stick to getting them, and why dh and df can't just accept that I want to eat a little better and rather than try and pressure me into eating crap it doesn't take much persuading they could just let me get on with it.

tabulahrasa · 20/01/2016 01:19

Quark is a low fat soft cheese...a bit like Philadelphia, with less fat and that's pretty much what it tastes like too.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 20/01/2016 07:33

3.5lbs down!! THANK GOD. First loss of 2016! Finally!! Wahoo! Still 1lb to go to get back to my pre-Xmas weight Angry but yay!

puppydogmummy · 20/01/2016 07:57

Feeling a bit stressed, life getting on top of me, so of course SW goes out the window.... Cross at myself for letting things slip, AGAIN! Grrrr. Today is anew day, healthy breakfast eaten ( fruit and eeetabix) pack lunch packed ( b pot salad beans) hopefully I'll get thru today with no slip ups. I can't go thru this whole cycle again 😔

BendydickCuminsnatch · 20/01/2016 08:25

You can do it puppy! Maybe keeping on top of SW will help you feel you can keep on top of everything else? Don't mean to sound patronising. I am certainly a stress eater too.
