A brand new thread for 2016.....:)

For old and new members alike....please join in and post food plans, meal ideas, how you use syns, weight losses and gains, how you feel.

I started exactly a year ago on 4 January 2015.
I weighed 14st 3lbs and was a size 16. Bloated and uncomfortable, I was mortified when I saw the scales.
In week 1, I lost 9lbs which has motivated me ever since.
I currently weigh 11st 3.5lbs and just missed my 3 stone certificate at Xmas. Put on 2lbs last week and not really expecting a loss this week but I want to get to 11 stone and then re set my target to 10 stone 7lbs.

I have gone down to a comfortable size 12 and even wore a size 10 Fat Face dress yesterday.

So, let's do this.

I feel quite excited. SW has definitely changed my life......:)

Sorry, not sure about the Arla quark now,its not coming up on the app. Sure I saw it as a P food before. Blush

Buttwing · 04/01/2016 21:52

You can have yogurt on sp days but you have to use syns for it. I have the muller Greek yogurt which are half a syn (or might be one syn) each. You can eat synned yogurt as part of your syn allowance.

wonkylampshade · 04/01/2016 21:58

Cauliflower white sauce sounds great!! Is pasta ok on sp then? I assumed I'd have to stay away from it?

I've been making carbonara about once a week, using bacon (no fat), garlic, pasta and egg - syns or hea for parmesan and a shed load of salad on the side.

Would that work as a sp meal then?

Thank you for walking me through it, as I sometimes find it tricky to navigate al the rules!

cowboylover · 04/01/2016 22:05

Wow you have all been busy!Smile
Going to have to check in more often to catch up
Today
B; Overnight oats, raspberries and coffee
L; Fruit
D; Hunters chicken, SW Chips, spinach and corn on the cobs. 3 Syns for sauce.
Drinks; Coffee, Diet Coke and water but should have more tomorrow.

maygirl · 04/01/2016 22:05

No pasta on an SP day, but the cauli sauce is a speed food. For an SP lasagne you would have to use courgette or carrot strips, its quite nice. I sometimes do this on my quarter, with lasagne sheets for the others. Aubergine is nice too, mousakka style meal

calzone · 04/01/2016 22:09

No to pasta but I was just giving you some new food ideas......

wonkylampshade · 04/01/2016 22:12

Thank you Smile. So tomorrow I'll plan to have fruit for breakfast, chicken/ham salad for lunch and either pasta and sauce free lasagne or chicken curry with cauliflower rice. I think I'm finally catching on!

I'd love to shift my gain this week, but realistically I think it'll take two.

maygirl · 04/01/2016 22:18

and a HeA and 2 HeB Wonky!

wonkylampshade · 04/01/2016 22:27

Oh crumbs, yes! I somehow feel I'm eating too much! So I could actually have turkey burgers in wholemeal rolls for lunch. Excellent.

Parrish · 04/01/2016 22:33

I started in November 2014. I have lost one stone and a half. Not great but I find following the diet quite difficult. Especially as I don't eat meat and things can get quite samey.

I got a real shock today as it turns out my dad is lighter than I am despite being my height with a massive tummy and 30 years Older than me, so he's had more time to eat!

I am hoping that the slow losses I have had mean it won't come back but this Christmas I put on 6lb!

I don't really enjoy SW but I am running out of diets to try!

calzone · 04/01/2016 22:41

Parrish.....what don't you enjoy?

I meal plan normally and then switch it to a SW meal......

Breakfasts this week are
Fruit and yoghurt
Pancakes
Bacon sandwich
Egg and beans
Overnight oats
Porridge
Cereal with fruit

Lunches are
Salmon salad
Parsnip soup with chicken
Ham salad
Vegetable soup
Leftovers from night before

Dinners are
Chicken and spicy rice
Chicken noodle stir fry
Jacket potatoes with cheese and beans
SW burgers and sweet potato wedges
Butternut squash and lentil curry
Pasta Carbonara
Sausage and mash

In posting all that, I just mean it doesn't look like a diet.....it just looks like a meal plan.....have just tweaked it.

Hello all - starting to get into it now. Just made a tagine and a lentil soup to take to work tomorrow. Overnight oats for me too. I resolve to buy nothing extra! Started my walking plan tonight too.

Pisghetti · 04/01/2016 23:15

Zyla I'm 5'5" too. I've set my goal around 10 stone (9.13 as otherwise I'd miss out on my 2st certificate!) as I know I feel ok at that weight and I can maintain it. However I would like to get down to 9st 7lbs as it's a bit of a nemesis to me. Everytime I get near I spiral off madly out of control so I just want to know if I can get there! But I also lose boobs and bun when I get close and I don't want that either... It's tricky Confused

ateacupofgin · 05/01/2016 06:33

That menu plan is brilliant Calzone I have screen grabbed it for inspiration next week! And I've woken up starving, but not fancying eggs so bacon sandwich it is as I have medallions that need using. Thanks for the inspiration!

Solina · 05/01/2016 07:32

Right so in my first week I have lost 7 pounds and got my first award too! I have to get new batteries for the electric scale so that I can see half pounds too though! Its not so easy to tell that on my other one.

Anyways I am very pleased with this result and maybe next week I will get another 4 or so! :)

Howlongtillbedtime · 05/01/2016 07:44

That's amazing solina ! I am on day two and the idea of losing half a stone in a week is very motivating .

How have you found it so far ?

overitalready · 05/01/2016 07:56

5lb off for me this week.

Thats the christmas weight off

alleypalley · 05/01/2016 08:09

Well done Solina and overitalready.

Ledkr · 05/01/2016 08:12

I bought two of the soups from ice land so I can have them for lunch when DH is at work (broken arm remember, not laziness Grin)
I skipped breakfast then had an amazing brunch of bacon egg beans etc etc which kept me going till dinner.
Aldi on Sunday was devoid of all fruit abd veg apart from two pears and a bag of onions. I did wonder if it had been visited by you lot Grin

blondiep14 · 05/01/2016 08:21

Overit, amazing.
Weighing in later. Not hopeful but back on it so it shouldn't take too long to get whatever I've put on, off again.

ChessieFL · 05/01/2016 08:29

I joined 10 Jan 2015 and have lost 2.5 stone so far. Just 6lb to target! This is the longest I have stuck to any diet and I think it's due to staying for the meetings - when you know someone else will see your results it's more of a motivator than just doing it yourself. I like getting the awards too! Just got to hope I can keep the weight off this time as every other time I've lost it has gone back on again. I'm on the social team and plan to keep going to groups which should help.

Solina · 05/01/2016 08:31

Howlong I have found it quite easy. I have had eggs on toast for breakfast most days and it feels like a treat :D
Syns are taking some getting used to and I have been over twice in the first week but within the limit the others.
I have done SW before though so it wasnt too hard to get used to it all again.

LaurieFairyCake · 05/01/2016 08:42

Well the first day back on was easy enough - I ended up making chilli in the evening

I can't find my book - does anyone know if the Heinz 5 types of beans in chilli has syns? Because I added 2 tins of it to the chilli (not just me eating it) - lots of extra 'veg' and fibre in the 5 beans - hoping it wasn't too high

I'm having eggs on toast for brekkie later - one hexb, one extra slice for 6 syns.

backinschool · 05/01/2016 09:22

LaurieFairyCake - online it says that Heinz Five Beanz in Tomato Sauce, canned (415g can) are free. Are those the ones you added to the chilli?

emwithme · 05/01/2016 10:18

I don't know why I bother doing online shopping sometimes (except that it means that the shop does all the carrying of beer and wine!)

Thought I'd get a good mid-week shop in (because we had no beer or wine at all) but Asda have thwarted me. Apparently they have no carrots, celery or tomatoes of any kind, and they think that 400g 15% fat pork mince is a suitable substitution for my 750g less-than-5%-fat beef mince.

Oh well, they bought bacon and mushrooms so I'm having brekkie then going to the bloody shop, no doubt to find carrots, celery, tomatoes and beef mince in abundance!
