A brand new thread for 2016.....:)

For old and new members alike....please join in and post food plans, meal ideas, how you use syns, weight losses and gains, how you feel.

I started exactly a year ago on 4 January 2015.
I weighed 14st 3lbs and was a size 16. Bloated and uncomfortable, I was mortified when I saw the scales.
In week 1, I lost 9lbs which has motivated me ever since.
I currently weigh 11st 3.5lbs and just missed my 3 stone certificate at Xmas. Put on 2lbs last week and not really expecting a loss this week but I want to get to 11 stone and then re set my target to 10 stone 7lbs.

I have gone down to a comfortable size 12 and even wore a size 10 Fat Face dress yesterday.

So, let's do this.

I feel quite excited. SW has definitely changed my life......:)

I also had a big bag of salted popcorn today, the brand is 'proper corn', worked out at 4.5 syns. Tesco do a multipack of small bags of popcorn (including caramel!) which are relatively low syn too.

WonderOnTheUp · 04/01/2016 18:03

Thanks for the thread! I was on another thread but went AWOL!

I lost a stone on SW and reached my target, I decided to have a few off days in December...a few off days turned into an off month - spectacularly off plan!! 1/2 stone gained and my tail firmly between my legs, in coming back to shift it again! I'm on day 1....on track so far, evenings are usually my weakest time but I'm trying very hard!!

Heyheyheygoodbye · 04/01/2016 18:19

Light day today...

B - just tea, milk hexa
L - veg soup
D - fruit plate with a Muller :)

Wibblewobble100 · 04/01/2016 18:34

Hey all, great fast moving thread!
I joined in mid November at 13 stone 0.5 lb. I'm 5'7" and felt the size 16 was getting tight. Initial goal is 11 stone 7...
So far I've lost 7lb in 5 weeks but then gained 1.5 lb over Christmas- although given what I ate I wasn't too disappointed.
I'm struggling to really get back on board though. So my goals for January:
Write it all down
Focus on 1/3 speed food
Get moving again- hoping this will be easier when back at work as I try to cycle if weathers not too awful. Changing job in Feb though and new place is 30 miles away so need to drive😕. Those doing C25k do you run in the dark evenings on your own? I live in a pretty safe place but just don't like the idea.

overitalready · 04/01/2016 18:35

B - Boiled eggs and soldiers.

L - Apple, banana, pear.

D - Steak, jacket potato, rocket, cucumber, roasted tomatoes, baby courgettes, and coleslaw

S - Cadbury snack

Syns - 2 teaspoons of Lighter than light mayo for the coleslaw, smidge of butter and my snack

overitalready · 04/01/2016 18:38

wibble both times I have ran in the dark on my own.

I haven't really thought about it to be honest. Too busy trying not too pass out Grin

You can set the app to silent so it vibrates when you need to run if you wish that way you can hear what's going on around you

y0rkier0se · 04/01/2016 18:42

First day hasn't been bad. Breakfast was 35g branflakes (hex b) with a tiny bit of milk (counting 1 syn), lunch was a chicken breast and green pepper with egg noodles and 2.5 syns worth of blue dragon sweet & sour sauce, dinner was a free SW beef burger with 35g cheese for hex A, and homemade free chips, followed by one of those Miller desert things that are only 99kcals but bloody 5 syns. Snacked on walkers French fries for 4 syns, 3 mini oranges and a banana. Total of 11.5 syns Smile

Wibblewobble100 · 04/01/2016 18:43

wonkylampshade · 04/01/2016 18:46

Well I managed an ok day and am off to my first weigh in for about six weeks Blush. It'll not be a happy weigh in bit will give me an incentive to get back on the horse at least I suppose!!

Today I had bacon, eggs, tomatoes and beans for breakfast, hea was cheddar and tomatoes and 4 mini oatcakes for lunch, dinner was veg spaghetti, pickled red cabbage and seared tuna steaks (delicious).

My syns today were a fudge and a pack of wotsits. I have no willpower!
I'm mentally preparing myself for around a 5lbs gain tonight, which would make me about 12.5st.

emwithme · 04/01/2016 18:50

I am the proud owner of a part-assembled exercise bike from Aldi (DH is currently swearing at it and the kittens are shouting to be let in the room)

I will be doing body magic daily from now on until I get bored and it turns into a clothes horse

Had another on plan day today.

Brunch: Bacon, scrambled eggs, beans, mushrooms, tomato
Mid-afternoon snack: Fat free greek yoghurt, berries
Dinner (about to cook): Salmon fillet, new potato, cabbage, green beans.
Late night snack: Apple & cheese (HEA), hifi bars (HEB)
Syns: Tassimo Cappuccino (2.5 syns), splash milk (in scrambled eggs) 1 syn, mint sauce (am I the only person who likes mint sauce and fish?) 2 syns

BendydickCuminsnatch · 04/01/2016 18:57

Hello all!

Today's the first day back on plan.

B - banana, apple at 5:30, then mushroom omelette at 9 (darn that baby!)
L - mugshot (never had one before - don't understand how it can be free, it's so junky! Keeping some in house for some 'I need junk!' days!), salad, options hot choc powder mixed into total yoghurt.
Snack - more total and options [bush]
D - loads of leftover SW spaghetti bolognese :)
Have forgotten about my healthy extras so going to have to have cheese on toast later.
Syns: 2 for tea, 4 for 2 lots of options.
Drinks: 4 teas, loads of squash and fizzy water.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 04/01/2016 18:58

Ha Blush not [bush]!!! Grin

Howlongtillbedtime · 04/01/2016 19:21

Is there an easy way to work out how many syns something has ?

Sirzy · 04/01/2016 19:24

1lb loss this week!

emwithme · 04/01/2016 19:24

The app has a food checker, but for "norty" treats (chocolate, crisps, alcohol) etc a good rule of thumb is 20 cals = 1 syn. It doesn't always work that way, but it's near enough for the odd thing.

Solina · 04/01/2016 19:37

So salmon and mash didnt happen as I got what i assume to be an infection so went off to try find out of hours gp and am not going to be home for another 30mins or so (did not have luck, they closed the out of hours surgery). Had meal out, a lasagne with a side salad and a bit of garlic bread. Over my syns limit but I feel I still made better choice than normally would have.

Howlongtillbedtime · 04/01/2016 19:38

Thank you emwithme , I haven't downloaded the app yet . next job .....

FannyFanakapan · 04/01/2016 19:45

Leftovers for lunch tomorrow with a cucumber, onion and tomato salad and I'm excited about lunch!

Day one done Grin

FlopIsMyChristmasGuru · 04/01/2016 19:53

Well done basin
I might dig out the beef recipe myself!

Muffintopmum · 04/01/2016 20:03

Hello Calzone and Co 👋

Wow there are lots of inspiring people on here - congratulations on your losses.

I'm a Newbie and have just joined Slimmingworld online tonight - wasn't sure whether to go to meetings or try online - plumped for the online option in the end as someone kindly posted an offer code on another thread. Anyway, I've failed at WW more times than I care to remember and probably weigh the most I ever have - bar pregnancy. My starting weight is 13 stone 3 lbs and I'd like to lose 3 and a half stone - not sure if it's do-able given my past performance on WW but I'm hoping I'm finally in the zone and that I won't go hungry with SW (I used to feel deprived on WW then would binge at times). The SW plan seems to make a lot of sense from what I've seen so far.

Off to browse the SW site some more and try and work my Syns for today. Have a great week everyone.

Howlongtillbedtime · 04/01/2016 20:09

I have nearly done my first full day Grin only a lifetime ahead to go !

B two boiled eggs
L soup and ryvita
D roasted veg with chilli 1 cal oil and chicken thighs roasted with 1 cal and tarragon
Syns I think I have had 6 but I am still a bit unsure

ZylaB · 04/01/2016 20:27

Thanks calzone I'm a little shorter at 5 feet 5, was wondering if I need to drop my target weight a bit, but it is within a healthy BMI, which I've never been as an adult!, think I'll see how I feel and if it's still coming off when I'm nearly there :)

Muffintopmum · 04/01/2016 20:29

Well done howlongtobedtime that's a great start. I've gone slightly over my Syns today - but I'm blaming him indoors for that as he chose dinner - still he did cook it so I can't moan really.

Anyway I have a quick question for the experts out there.

To sum up a SW day - I can eat as much free food, have 2 healthy extras a and b, plus up to 15 Syns? So if I choose to have fruit and fibre for breakfast it's either a healthy extra or 6 Syns - I don't count it as both.

Is that right?

Thanks in advance.

OrianaBanana · 04/01/2016 20:30

Yes that's right!

The Facebook group 'syns allowed' is a great source of unofficial guidance on syns, if that helps anyone.
