A brand new thread for 2016.....:)

For old and new members alike....please join in and post food plans, meal ideas, how you use syns, weight losses and gains, how you feel.

I started exactly a year ago on 4 January 2015.
I weighed 14st 3lbs and was a size 16. Bloated and uncomfortable, I was mortified when I saw the scales.
In week 1, I lost 9lbs which has motivated me ever since.
I currently weigh 11st 3.5lbs and just missed my 3 stone certificate at Xmas. Put on 2lbs last week and not really expecting a loss this week but I want to get to 11 stone and then re set my target to 10 stone 7lbs.

I have gone down to a comfortable size 12 and even wore a size 10 Fat Face dress yesterday.

So, let's do this.

I feel quite excited. SW has definitely changed my life......:)

And well done on the loss, Wine - that meal sounds amazing too!

annatha · 17/01/2016 21:00

B- overnight oats in vanilla and coconut muller with fruit. This was much nicer than when I made it with strawberry yoghurt.

L- none. I had breakfast late and the DC were taking it in turns to tantrum all afternoon so before I knew it it was 6pm and I was starving.

D- mushroom and frozen veg omlette, salad, cottage cheese, Muller light.

S- peanut hifi, yogurts, fruit, tea with sugar

On 3 syns so far. I have chicken and tomato soup in the fridge that really needs eating today so if I get hungry later I'll have that.

KittyOShea · 17/01/2016 21:12

Properly back on it this week for first time in ages.

B- porridge fruit yoghurt
L- pea and ham soup, fruit, hi fi
D- lamb and veg risotto (was delicious)

Syns- 2 sugar, 6 hi fi,

Wibblewobble100 · 17/01/2016 22:34

Hi folks, well done to all the losers!
Having a good week...ish. Made the fish molee from the curry book that came with the January mag - totally amazingly delicious. Unfortunately it felt so decadent I drank 18 syns worth of wine.
Back on it today though...
B fruit and muller
L m&s salad (3 syn) rocket, Tomato, ham, 1 slice bread (b) with cheese (a). Melon
D a mexican bean stew (1 syn) with rice, orange, another muller
S left over pasta salad from lunch yesterday, milk in drinks 2 syn.
Planning a lasagne with cauli sauce this week too. Will be on night shift though and usually the tiredness that involves makes me reach for junk. Any other shift workers? Tips for how you cope?

ProcrastinatorGeneral · 17/01/2016 22:56

Evening folks!

Been a little wobbly recently, but getting back into the groove slowly. Made it to my three stone award, so still moving forward.

Had the raging munchies today so Inroasted off a couple of chicken breasts and tore them up and left them in the fridge in a bowl. Must remember that protein will convince my gut it's full better than a hobnob, regardless of how bloody lovely hobnobs are!

The kids have asked for pizza tomorrow, so I'm going to have a massive jacket with my hex a cheese as a bit of a treat. I'm going to syn in a blob of butter too, as that's the way I'm rolling right now!:o

Hope everyone is feeling primed for the week ahead. I want four pounds off this week if possible, going to chuck myself at the house and my volunteering and ignore the munchies as much as I can.

:)

FoofFighter · 17/01/2016 23:10

Sneaking in the door... I'm a bit late to the party...

I started sw a couple months ago, weighing in at 14st 7lb. I nearly got my 1st sticker, but then Christmas happened! Went back after the new year after not going for 3 weeks and was back up to 14st 2.5lb.. lost that 2.5 in first week back on sw, now need to keep going.

I haven't been very strict the past couple weeks. I really could do with tracking a better. Time to find a notebook or something to write in as I really don't get on with the online log for some reason.. I find it really complicated. Could do with some more of the tracking sheets that you get in the first few weeks.. that would be good.

Ended up in a beefeater unexpectedly for lunch today. Went for gammon steak with a jacket potato instead of the chips. Does that sound okay? What do we reckon on syns? The only other syns I've had today is milk as I reckon I've had too many cups of tea for my healthy extra allowance!

annatha · 18/01/2016 00:52

Anin I use a cheap week to view diary as a food diary and add up syns as I go but on Instagram I've seen people buy those family calenders and instead of writing family names they label the columns breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks or speed, free, hex, syns. A few people at group have got diet doodle diaries from The Works which look good too.

I'm @swbfmama on Instagram, will start using the # and find you all.

ChessieFL · 18/01/2016 06:46

Ain just ask your consultant for more of the food diaries, mine happily dishes them out!

ChessieFL · 18/01/2016 06:48

Meant to add your meal should be free if there was no butter on the spud. It's possible it had some oil on the skin so you could count syns for that but I always count a jacket spud as free when eating out.

emmaluvseeyore · 18/01/2016 08:28

Lost 0.3 kg this week. Pretty happy with that as it means I've kept off my big loss from last week. I've got a bit of a dodgy belly this morning though :( I think my downfall is the weekend. I don't go crazy but I don't count my syns as carefully as I do during the week. I'm away with my Brownies this coming weekend so I won't have much control over my food.

wowser3 · 18/01/2016 08:30

Slimming world week 2. This is my bed time , I work permanent nights. I don't really know what to call my meals.
Breakfast = overnight oats with blueberries
Midnight meal = pasta cooked with veg (tinned toms, celery, carrot , onion, peppers)
Supper = 2 slices HE B bread , one egg , mushrooms , a muller and more blueberries
Syns = 10.5 on a bag of minstrels
HE A , milk in tea
Does that sound ok or too much to you?
I keeps using my syns on minstrels , not very healthy :(

Pisghetti · 18/01/2016 08:40

Eurgh horrible night's sleep. My baby hates me Hmm need to avoid the urge for sugar!

B - overnight oats HeB with natural yogurt and rhubarb
S - 3x babybel light HeA, skyr cherry yogurt
L - leftover butternut squash risotto (3 Syns)
S - Apple, banana
D - might have a go at this pastitso with quorn mince HeA

wowser3 · 18/01/2016 08:46

What's this pastito thing I have seen mentioned please? Confused

BasinHaircut · 18/01/2016 09:24

wowser its this.

www.slimmingeats.com/blog/pastitsio#.Vpyu44rfXCS

Seriously good and ridiculously filling. Doesn't taste like a diet food at all. I needed a cheese fix and this did the job.

BasinHaircut · 18/01/2016 09:36

I'm not feeling great today and considering treating myself to a bit of toast with proper butter on it.

But then I'm wondering whether I will just regret it and so might as well just have some porridge.

Actually writing that down, ive decided that I'll just have porridge. Just have to muster up the energy to go and make it now Grin

So today should look like this:

B - porridge with 1 tsp of sugar (1syn)

L - small leftover roast (chicken, potatoes, swede and carrot mash, green beans and cabbage. Gravy (1syn)

Dinner - chicken, bacon and mushroom risotto, peas and salad (say 6 syns for some Parmesan and small bit of butter thrown in at the end)

Snacks - couple of pieces of fruit probably.

I'm loving that I can basically still have really nice food on SW. There are a few things i am missing, like fajitas/enchiladas and sandwiches with tiger bread baguettes and lots of butter, but I'm not missing chocolate or crisps etc. I think that completely avoiding them rather than using syns on them means I've lost the craving for it.

knowler · 18/01/2016 10:28

Basin I'm not missing choc/crisps etc either. Given the choice on syns, I've been using them for stuff like butter, mayo, salad dressing etc. Yesterday though was the first day I was massively craving bread. Bread (topped with butter and usually cheese too Shock) is my downfall and I still do miss a lovely fat slice of granary with butter. Haven't really found anything to replace cravings yet.

Anyway, today:

B: coffee, apple.
L: mixed salad from work cafe including boiled egg, pasta (I choose mostly free items, but always allow between 2 and 5 syns depending on e.g. pesto on pasta etc)
D: jacket potato with low fat cottage cheese and salad.

HexA: milk in drinks
HexB: probably ryvitas as a snack

Snacks: apples, mugshot (free), banana, grapes.

Also got my 5km plus course tonight, so that will be an hour of hell exercise.

BasinHaircut · 18/01/2016 11:25

knowler I am completely avoiding bread products at the moment as I know they will be my downfall. I did have a tiny slice of WM toast (dry) with my SW fry up on Saturday and it was so not worth it. It's got to be proper bread or none at all!

There are so many good things about this diet that I'm just going to have to live without my bread for now.

WineAndIntrigue · 18/01/2016 11:50

Thank you Basin and Emily, I'm really pleased! I've done the maths, Basin and I'm hoping it will be doable! Would love to be 11st on my birthday weekend (and, like you said, will probably eat and drink a couple of pounds of that back on!)

Ain I bought this (but in a spotty print) from Sainsbury's at the weekend which I like - it's on a magnet so currently living on my fridge.

WineAndIntrigue · 18/01/2016 11:53

Oops and food diary for today

B - Muller Light and a cup of peppermint tea
L - Chicken breast (1.5 syns for Maggi seasoning sheet), salad and 2syns of balsamic
D - Same as last night I think - Warburtons Thins 'pizzas' w/ leftover chips and veggies
Snacks - Banana, apple

I think they are rubbing the jacket potatoes in the canteen with oil - I am tempted to go and ask someone at lunch but I'm worried they'll think I'm a bit ridiculous, so this week am going to try and bring my own lunch for a few days and see if that makes a difference. Would love to leave the 12s behind by next Sunday.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 18/01/2016 12:25

First speed day today - so confused. How do you still have 5-15 syns if you're only eating S & P foods? Aren't they all free? I'm having 2 lots of bread and 1 lots of cheese as my HEs, and other than that just free S&P foods.

Does this mean I can have a banana, which is free but not S or P, and if so, how do I syn it?? Confused

emwithme · 18/01/2016 12:36

You just have your syns as normal.

For example, the other day, my syns were 2 for a Tassimo cappuccino (for some reason I've been telling myself they were 2.5 and they're not!), 1 for a splash of milk in my tea (I used my HEA for cheese) and 2 for some mint sauce.

If I'm doing SP days I have yoghurts that have syns in them (like the muller light greek yoghurts at 1/2 syn each) rather than free yoghurts

tabulahrasa · 18/01/2016 12:40

Your syns are just normal syns, for things that always have syns in them and they don't have to be S or P foods.

You shouldn't really have free foods that aren't an S or a P though.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 18/01/2016 12:53

OK so no non S or P free foods.

I don't have any non-free treats in! Might go buy a yoghurt Grin thanks for clarifying.

FoofFighter · 18/01/2016 15:54

no you can't syn a banana as it doesn't have a syn allowance. Don't forget in place of yogurts you can have quark instead to keep it free.
