Slimming World
Starting again... Anyone looking for a buddy?
KeepAbreast · 21/06/2014 23:47
Okay, so I'm going to start Slimming World again. I lost about three stone last year on it after having my DD but I've put it all back on and more :/ and I feel stuck in a massive rut.
This time however, I'm back at work so can't make it to group, so will be doing it from home. If anyone else is thinking about starting SW, or already has, I'd love to have someone to chat to and check in with! Anybody?
BoldBlackCherry · 27/06/2014 00:46
Should say I'm 20st 1lb just now (lost 5lb this week) so I'm massively overweight and have about 9st to lose to get to a healthy bmi and size. If I don't lose it now, I never will after several failed diets my weight has gone between 15st and 20st the past 4 years. This is my heaviest and biggest dress size. The buttons are tight on a size 22 and I'm 25. It's ruining my life I need to take control and stop comfort eating and over eating
PhoebeMcPeePee · 28/06/2014 20:48
Greencurlyteeth no you don't need to count syns of healthy extras as long as you stick to the designated amounts eg HEA 350mls of skimmed milk for tea/coffee and HEB 2 weetabix no need to syn anything. But, if you then want cheese on your pasta or an alpen light bar/hifi bar (both healthy extras) you'd have to syn them. I would say if you drink lots of tea & coffee use milk as a HEA and if you need a sweet fix use alpen light or hifi bars as HEB then fill up in free/superfree food the rest of the day.
3 months in & 27lbs lost
PeachTrees · 28/06/2014 21:01
my week has been going well. I successful dodged my nan in laws attempts to fatten me up even more (she's always trying to give me biscuits and today gave me a massive chocolate bar which went straight into DPs work bag ) . Do any other family members do this to you? DPs family, although lovely, always roll their eyes and tut if I refuse their constant offers of fatty stuff .
Katiekins90 · 29/06/2014 11:59
Wow that's strong willpower passing up chocolate! My oh is exactly like that always bringing me home things and suggesting I have " a day off" and "just one pizza won't hurt"
It's strange though as when I had the BBQ I didn't enjoy it as much as I would of as in the back of my head I was adding up syns and thinking how I don't want a gain this week.
27lbs in 3 months is amazing! How are you finding it now your quite far in?
Pantspants · 30/06/2014 12:42
Please can I join too? I joined sw 9 weeks ago and have lost 16 lb so far. Would like to lose about 5st in total but am breaking it down into chunks as that seems like a huge number.
I've done ww before and found their online support groups fab but sw doesn't seem to have any of that so this group looks great.
beckslovestimmy · 30/06/2014 15:36
Can I join in? Going to my first meeting tonight. I've done SW before and lost quite a bit. I did red days then as im not great with lots of carbs. Since then I've had DD and put back on the weight I previously lost. I'd like to lose about 3stone. Going to break it down into 1stone targets. Wish me luck for tonight!
MsJupiter · 30/06/2014 18:49
Hi, I've looked at this section a few times without posting but you guys seem friendly! I've lost 11.5lbs in 5 weeks on SW, missed last week as on holiday but going to my meeting in about half an hour. I kept broadly to the plan on holiday apart from a couple of meals I chose to enjoy and not count or feel guilty about so I'm hoping there won't be too much/any damage.
I have 5 stone+ to lose but like others am focusing on one stone at a time.
Pantspants · 01/07/2014 08:10
Weigh in last night and I've put on 4.5lb. Disappointed as I did loads of exercise last week but think maybe I overdid it on the carbs. At group they thought perhaps I hadn't drunk enough water as well and looking back I haven't drunk as much as I would normally. Instead of having a pint of water with each meal I've been having diet coke or squash. Usually I drink green tea but this week I've had loads of coffee. Wouldn't think it would make a difference but maybe it does.
Nervous as we're away for a week next week but we are self catering so hopefully I won't undo everything I've achieved so far
Congrats on sotm msjupiter!

Ok so first real day today. I've downloaded the water balance app to keep on track with drinking 2l of water and i'm going to try and fit in some exercise this week.
Looked on the SW app last night. I'm going to try the chow mein and carbonara from the recipes. I've got my shopping list all ready. Feeling organised.
Hope all you other ladies are having a good week.
WhereBeThatBlackbirdTo · 01/07/2014 09:10
Pantspants - water? Tell me more! I only joined SW on Thursday and I drink mostly tea with milk from my HE. Does this mean that I'm not doing it right?
Oh, poo! Hope not!
I'm a vegetarian so using all green days. I'm basically just doing what I usually eat but using Frylight, cutting out wine, shop-bought veggie meals and my beloved veggie Percy Pigs!
My consultant on the first meeting was standing in for our regular lady (who was at Glasto) so I'm not sure the meeting went as they usually do, IYSWIM.
beckslovestimmy · 01/07/2014 09:19
Where: the water balance app is not a SW thing. Don't panic.
Often hunger pangs are actually your body trying to tell you that you are dehydrated.
It's good for your health, digestion skin and weight loss to drink around 2l of water a day. (This does not include regular tea and coffee as they have a diuretic effect and actually add to dehydration- that's how I understand it anyway). You can include diet drinks, milk and no sugar squash in that 2l.
It's not something you have to do. Your not doing anything wrong.
Katiekins90 · 01/07/2014 09:20
pants I tend to find if I exercise as well as diet it tends to slow down my loss at first, I was told something along the lines of when you exercise your body holds onto more fluid to repair it's self.
becks let us know how the chow mein goes it's my usual order from the Chinese!
wump good luck!
My food for today I have planned :
Breakfast: 1 apple, 1 alpen light bar
Lunch will be: omelette with a side salad
Dinner: spag bowl with extra lean mince and veg
Snacks: alpen bar, strawberries
beckslovestimmy · 01/07/2014 09:42
My food for the day is:
2 weatabix with skimmed milk and a nectarine.
Omelette with bacon mushrooms onion tomatoes and spinach.
South American meal out tonight. Unfortunately I've pre ordered so going to try and change my choice when I arrive.
Have a good day ladies.
